That is certainly not what the LORD told me was the calling of my life. If that be so then may the HE strike and kill me now for I am a teacher and there is no better place to teach the Word of GOD than in HIS holy church.
"If that be so then may the HE strike and kill me"

Luke 4:12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Nahum 1:3
The LORD is slow to anger but great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished.

If you are a female and you are teaching! STOP DOING IT AND REPENT. The lord say I suffer a woman not to teach.

I Timothy 2:11 "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection."

Many people take this verse to far, for it is important that both men and woman sit and learn in silence and be in subjection to those in authority that are doing the teaching. The subject that we are talking about here is "learning" from the Word of God. When God's Word is being taught anywhere, there should be respect for the Word, and those doing the teaching. When you are in a church service and there is talking and moving around that distract others, then knowledge is going forth, and people are being robbed from what they came to hear. This is why there should be silence within the service, and every thing must be done with order and respect for the house of God.

There is nothing that anyone has to say in a service, that is more important than what God's Word has to say. If you think that your words are more important, than leave for you are missing the truth anyhow, and you are disturbing those around you.

I Timothy 2:12 "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."

Many preachers use this verse to come down hard on the women in their church, and keep them all tied up. Just as the woman is to stay in her place, so a man and their children are to stay in their place also. The word "suffer" as used here is written because of what Paul was doing prior to his conversion. Paul was going into churches and dragging women out into the streets, stripping them and beating them even to their death. It didn't matter to Paul prior to his conversion or any of those ordered by the high priest what they did with the ladies that would preach the Word of God. Paul knew the suffering that anyone that taught the Word of God would receive at the hands of the Kenite priests and religious leaders, and he did not desire that to come on the Christian ladies of the church. This was a dangerous time to teach the Word of God, and Paul's intent was that the men should take the stand, have the backbone and preach the Word with all the risks that were present.

Paul knew those risks to those that he taught, for he carried the letter from the high priests, those sons of Satan, that had no respect for women in any manner. In fact, he was carrying the letter when he was on that road to Damascus to do just this to the men and women that were preaching and teaching God's Word. It was very embarrassing to the ladies, and even caused many of their deaths. Paul is now saying here that "I give you the liberty and the authority to not do it, to not teach and preach, and cause you to be placed is such danger.

There were women prophets, which is to say teachers in Paul's day and this upsets some of the men folk. Those that take this verse center on the word "not", and skip over the work "suffer", and they continue in their clouds of confusion and bigotry, for it makes them feel very manly to wheel their force over women, and in many cases the women have more knowledge and understanding than the men folk that are over them.

Paul was trying to protect all woman from the kind of treatment that was expected in those days to be give any one that preached or taught. As far as silence goes in the church, no matter who is speaking during a church service, no man woman or child should be allowed to speak and carry on when another is teaching the Word. Paul gave the woman the liberty to keep still and not teach if she did not want to, for this sake.

you are not helping to edify and bring unity with statements like that. And you say that, with absolutely no consideration for what all ells is written on the matter to be able to make an informed thought . Why rush to conclusions before actually having had an chance to even read the Bible in full, with understanding I will add.

As we all have to try to do in humility and meekness , prayer to God in Christ name.

I really need to quite this chat site for a long while.

Then why did you say this in the OP?

"I have seen what it looks like when a woman is the head of a church and no man puts a stop to any of her ideas. It's ugly because it is not GOD's way."
I never said that women shouldn't teach, good Lord! I was saying that we need a man over us when we do and a board (which she did not have either). GOD always intended for men to be over women in any situation, but I do not believe it was to shut them out.

That was my way of saying that what is coming out of you mouth is a lie and I will not live in a lie. I will not be apart of it. And as a guy you should really be saying this stuff to a woman. Do not, under any circumstances, say this to a woman when you are in the same vacinity as her. You never know when you are going to say it to the wrong one.

It all depends. Personally, I won't listen to a woman if she's in a pulpit or has anything remotely resembling a position of authority in a Church. I'll walk out of the Church never to return. Outside of church however, I learned a lot from my mother, especially when I was young....and a lot of older Godly women taught me a lot about how to walk with the Lord the right way just by things they said and how they lived their lives in general. That verse isn't there to shut women out of the Church. Women can also have the gift of prophecy and many other things as well....the only thing not allowed is a position of authority or as a teacher in the Church. These positions aren't something women should envy or lust after either.....teachers receive the stricter judgement....it's not a position to be taken lightly

So basically your saying the word of god is a lie because I quoted from the scriptures. And so what if a woman doesn't like it, its thus says the lord.

The way I understand it is that a woman can teach other women , children and (only under supervision of another man) an audience of men and women.

None of these answers really helped me at all with my question...
I see where they wouldn't help. You are a young woman who has grown up in America, in a time in history that does not comply with Biblical teaching in society. I have studied this because even as old as I am, I struggled with that question at one time. I will be happy to share what I have learned with you if you would like. I can post here (it is rather long) or I can send you a message through the chat email. Just let me know your preference.

[h=2](You ask)
What Do I Do With This Verse?
1 Timothy 2:11-15 "Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. [SUP]12 [/SUP]And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. [SUP]13 [/SUP]For Adam was formed first, then Eve. [SUP]14 [/SUP]And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control."
[/h](Beckon here)
Remember God being All, The is Truth in all things, still any thing of its self, tends to be lacking in The Fullness Of The Truth! The Spiritual reasoning behind these scriptures show the male domnated reasoning behind such scriptures. Recall the new testament bible was put to gather around 300 years after Jesus was murdered by the religious movement of his day that was more than willing to kill even as they who were putting the many letters now called The New Testament, even the letter called Revelations that warns against adding to or taking away from this letter/book called Revelations, in an tempt to leave out other letters the Roman & or other leaders reject.
The point is, "God, The Spirit of Eternal Truth (God's seed) is within all who are, & they were in God's foreknowledge from the very foundation of this birthing program that is birthing from God's image (Genesis 1:27) back into (the garden of Eden) Genesis 1:26, God's likeness, one with Jesus, the 1st born of many, not the only one nor last.
Historically, They who put the new testament to gather (like Paul) were along the way, still in part & there are only 2 parts, 1, The Eternal Truth & the other, lacking in This Truth in 1 or more ways! Again, any in sin/lacking in The Eternal Truth can be compared to even Peter, so why would anyone thank that out & out murders would be telling The Truth, nothing but The Truth, other than to seduce followers? Again the 1st commandment is, PUT NO ONE OR THING BETWEEN SELF & THE GOD OF All WHO IS ALL, Who Jesus was the 1st to become one with through the fulfilling of (not doing away with)of God's True Way!

This birthing is also called the wedding where few are willing to be cleaned in order to wed with the mind/being/knowledge of God as Jesus (did) lived & taught.

Wow. Anyways,it all gets down to trusting God. Firstly, Adam WAS NOT deceived. Genesis(i advise u turn there now)chapter 3 it says the woman GAVE ALSO UNTO HER HUSBAND AND HE ATE. The reason why our sin is Adam's responsibility is because he SINNED WILLINGLY. U nevr hear sin being called Eve's fault but Adam for being stupid. Also, teaching is not wrong at all. According to jewish customs, a woman could teach a male till he was about 12. Women could do several other teaching but reserve the leadership of the church to the man. And Joel did not prophesy about about women pastors dnt be misled. Prophesy is a spiritual gift qualifying any gender like all other spiritual gifts n requires revelation not teaching/leading a church. The childbearing part i'll honestly tell u no1 can explain wht paul meant here as Peter himself testified (2Peter 3:15-17). We knw salvation is by faith n grace to produce good works. Childbearing saves no one. What he meant,we dont knw. So we obey what we hv been assured of.

sister noel139...

1 TIMOTHY 2:11-14...
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression ( UNBELIEF/SIN ).

1 CORINTHIANS 14:33-35...
[SUP]33 [/SUP]For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
[SUP]34 [/SUP]Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
[SUP]35 [/SUP]And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

that's the problem with so many brothers and sisters in my LORD JESUS CHRIST... always making GOD'S HOLY WORD FIT THEIR DESIRES OF WHAT THEY WANT... by never accepting GOD'S PERFECT HOLY WORD AS WRITTEN AND ITS HOLY TRUTH AS IS...

GOD CANNOT GO AGAINST OR CHANGE HIS PERFECT HOLY WORD TO FULFILL OUR DESIRES OF WHAT WE BELIEVE GOD WANTS FOR US...

but satan sure tries to get us to believe this by changing and adding to GOD'S HOLY WORD just as satan did with Eve in the garden to pull us away from GOD'S HOLY TRUTH so that we may become lost... BUT THE ELECT WILL NOT FALL FOR THIS OR BE DECEIVED...

and Eve was deceived and fell to the most unpardonable sin... UNBELIEF OF GOD'S HOLY WORD... YET GOD PROVIDED a way for Eve and that was that Adam took on her sin through GODLY LOVE... a shadow of what my LORD JESUS CHRIST has done...

ROMANS 8:20...
[SUP]20 [/SUP]For the creature ( Adam ) was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

and as for AmberGardner's interpretation 1 TIMOTHY 2:11-12...

the greek word used for ( woman ) is GUNE... and its definition or interpretation means ( a woman of any age, whether a virgin, or married, or a widow, a wife, a betrothed woman )

and also the greek word for ( suffer ) in 1 TIMOTHY 2:12 is EPITREPO... and its definition or interpretation means ( to turn to, transfer, commit, instruct, to permit, allow, give leave )

so it reads as simply as this...

1 TIMOTHY 2:11-14...
11. Let the ( a woman of any age, whether a virgin, or married, or a widow, a wife, a betrothed woman ) learn in silence with all obedience/subjection... ( just as all christians should be in my LORD JESUS CHRIST )

12. But I ( ( to turn to, transfer, commit, instruct, to permit, allow, give leave ) NOT a woman to teach, nor to usurp/have authority over the man, but to be in silence/obedience/subjection.
13. For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14. And Adam was NOT deceived, but the woman BEING deceived was in the sinner.

and this is how it should be... he needs to hears his wife and take in to consideration her thoughts and feelings and make a wise decision... BUT STAYING WITH GOD'S HOLY WORD ALWAYS AND NEVER CONTRADICTING GOD'S HOLY WORD JUST TO PLEASE ANOTHER...

AND GOD HIMSELF SAYS A WOMAN SHALL AND WILL BE UNDER HER HUSBAND IN ALL MATTERS AND SHE MUST OBEY JUST AS WE MUST OBEY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST FOR HE IS OUR HEAD...

OR ARE YOU GONNA TELL HIM NO AS WELL IF YOU FEEL INFERIOR OR UNEQUAL...

some GODLY TRUTH TO THINK ABOUT SISTER.... GOD BLESS...

What?! I don't understand! I am not a quiet person and I will not be shut down just because of a man. I do not care who he is in my life! This has made me angry and I do not know what to do! This is scripture, so how can it be wrong? If it is not wrong then it is has to be right. So what does that mean for me? Am I just misunderstanding it? Adam was deceived also... He ate the fruit to... He let Eve talk him into doing the very thing GOD told him not to do. He was there when the serpent deceived his wife and he did nothing... He did not lead her, but, instead, let her lead him. So I have to have a child and my salvation depends on who they grow up to be? If that's true then I'm screwed. I do not want children because I lack that motherly quality that is the key ingredient to the whole parenting thing: I. AM. NOT. GOOD. WITH KIDS!!! Silence?! SILENCE???!!! Not possible. I am living with a couple who live exactly as that scripture says and I can't do that. The husband talks down to his wife for, goodness sake!!! She is not his equal, she's his child! If he says no then the answer is no... I don't think so. I am a believer in the husband leading his wife, but they also need to be partners. The wife needs a say so. Women can be easily lead astray because they lack the kind of strength that men kept with him when GOD took the Eve out of Adam. A woman needs a man over her and I have seen what it looks like when a woman is the head of a church and no man puts a stop to any of her ideas. It's ugly because it is not GOD's way. I get that, but that should not belittle her strength. I honestly do not know what to do... If this is what is meant to come out of marriage then I will avoid that vow like the plague! I am not Eve. I cannot be held in contempt because of her mistake. That would contradict the whole being reborn in Christ and being washed by His blood. I could cry! What is GOD's way here?
Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to be just. I think we men should treat women in the same manner we'd have them treat us. Jesus is boss.

i have learned from many GODLY WOMEN AS WELL... OUTSIDE OF CHURCH... AND I BELIEVE WE SHOULD HEAR FOR GOD WILL AND SHALL SPEAK THROUGH A MAN, A WOMAN, A CHILD, AND AN ANIMAL IF NEED BE...

MAY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ALWAYS GUIDE YOU THROUGH HIS HOLY GODLY TRUTH... GOOD LUCK SISTER AND MANY BLESSINGS UPON YOU AS WELL...

LOL, Nathan GBU, let's go to the Bible (using ESV here)

James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.

Now you're dealing with a woman teacher, who doesn't like what Apostle Paul wrote. So the problem is pretty obvious, it's called "being outside of Christianity".

2 Timothy 4:2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

The ESV says "preach the word ... with complete patience". If you leave CC, you'll still have THE SAME job description, the same world of people who just don't listen, etc.

John 21:15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."

Keep feeding the spiritual food of the pure word of God!

sister Noel139...

the LORD BROUGHT THIS TO MY REMEMBRANCE THROUGH HIS OWN HOLY PERFECT WORD... GOD BLESS...

1 PETER 3:1-7...
1. Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation ( CONDUCT ) of the wives;
[SUP]2. [/SUP]While they behold your chaste conversation ( CONDUCT ) coupled with fear.
[SUP]3. [/SUP]Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
[SUP]4. [/SUP]But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
[SUP]5. [/SUP]For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
[SUP]6.[/SUP]Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
[SUP]7. [/SUP]Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

the greek word for ( conversation ) in verses 1 & 2 is ANASTROPHE... its definition or interpretation means ( manner of life, conduct, behaviour )

so we see here in GOD'S OWN HOLY PERFECT WORD how MAN MUST LEAD IN ALL THINGS and how EVERY WOMAN MUST BE IN OBEDIENCE/SUBJECTION to her husband... for if a man doesn't speak up and correct those things which are AGAINST GOD'S HOLY WORD in verse 4 & verse 5...

and verse 6 shows us this very example from Abraham's own wife... Sarah.

and verse 7 shows us men that OUR WIVES are not door mats to walked over and belittled... OUR WIVES are our QUEENS and should be treated as such if we truly love them for OUR WIVES ARE APART OF US...

Why bother? James calls it worthless.

James 1:26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
