I pick up hitchikers all of the time. It can be risky, but I'm not going to let fear keep me from loving my neighbor and helping those who need it, like "scary" homeless people. I'm not married so I don't have a husband to tell me what to do. If he didn't like me doing that I wouldn't, but neither would I marry a man who has a spirit of fear, too scared to pick up a walking person. I don't have children either to protect.
And if I get harmed or killed for loving my neighbor.....

I agree that God does protect us, but He also gives us wisdom. I don't deliberately walk out in front of a truck, because even though I believe God protects me, it would not be wise to do so.

Anonymity isn't the same as denying Christ.
Christians are to be humble. We aren't to show off. I don't need a flashing neon sign saying IM A CHRISTIAN!! my actions and character should define me.
Keep in mind Jesus blended in with the Jewish people. He didnt walk around with a glowing halo like we see in photos. He looked like everyone else.

The purpose of God must prevail. There was a phase when Jesus kept his real identity from the Pharisees. He did this to avoid being distracted from his purpose. Then there was a time when he revealed his true identity and made them furious. Again, there were times when he withdrew from them, as the time was not right for the purpose of God. In the end he declared himself as the Son of God to everyone.
A Christian must not be overzealous and legalistic about his faith. Revealing your real name and identity to "trollers" would invite them to distract you from your purpose and fellowship.
Therefore to say that one is denying Christ if he or she is not revealing his real name on CC sounds silly to me. There is a right time and place for everything. One must portray Christ wherever they go, by the way they live (home first). If it helps the purpose of God, one must not hesitate to reveal their real name. However not in an open (but undoubtedly awesome) forum such as CC, with all due respect and gratitude to CC admin team.

True, we are called to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Can't be naive. So how one chooses to balance these attributes should be left to the individual. Therefore, if one person chooses to reveal his or her name that's their choice. If another person chooses not to reveal his or her name, it's again their choice. We must not tell people how to live their lives.

I worked with a girl whose twin sister got her head blown off by a man who stalked her from a christian website. I withhold my name and other identifying information only until someone asks me for it. And at that point I use my own discretion on whether or not this person is trustworthy. The internet is a dangerous place because even with photos and names, those can easily be faked. For instance Amber, I have no clue if that is a real photo of you or that you are even using your real name.
Remaining anonymous is not denying God in any way, nor is it "hiding" from anything. It's a form of protection. I have a kid and younger family members that are protected by my own anonymity. I hardly even post pics of myself or family on facebook because of this. It's not hiding from anything or hiding a "demon" or something. It's being wise and protective of my well-being, as well as others.

You can withhold your name and address in your offline life and still be hit by crime. Christians will be persecuted.

Offline life is different. It's not like all of us here go around wearing masks in public. The internet typically has different rules than when you've met someone in person.

Would you give the same advice to the teens who visit this forum regularly? Name and city, but nothing else?
I think it would be a good idea for them to know that this is horrible advice. I'm not picking on you Amber, I just think this advice is dangerous, especially for younger people visiting the forum.

The Great Commission found at Matthew 28:19 and 20 commands us to preach and teach.
Sometimes being anonymous means being discrete and sometimes (probably most) it is being a coward. If we carefully examine our hearts with prayer to God we will know which we are. I feel I have been both.
in all the years I have been on the internet (very long time) I refuse to give out my name,address,ect,ect I also will not post any pictures of me. (I also do not allow pictures of me to be taken)

its not about disowning god, its about being smart on the internet. by posting your real name, pics, age, and state/area you live in a lot of information can be found about you.
So even as you say you never give out your address, I have to assume your real name is your user name here. you are 31 and in MS. if someone wants to search enough they can find your address,mom/dads name,brothers/sisters, extended family ect ect.
