I'm single, but it doesn't mean I'm interested in a relationship. It would be nice to have the "middle ground" you were talking about to help keep the messaging down a little.

That's kind of the point. This isn't a dating site. Which is probably why there isn't a need to have various relationship status labels.
But to anyone who thinks this is a good, effective idea on how to stop people from hitting on you it's not. As has been posted here, and as i've heard 1000 other times, having 'married' doesn't stop them. Neither does putting it in your profile, or PM box. Some people are here seeking sexual chat, some are just plain stupid, while others assume people are willing to cheat. It doesn't change anything.

Meanwhile, as other have said, you could write your blog telling what people could expect -or find- from you, but the site is intended for chatting and virtual fellowship.
In my case I don´t mind saying I´m divorced as others had said they have problems with drugs or sex but, as model (or modelled) Chritians, we are supposed to be above the average or standard, and my experience here has proved me few people here like to read or write things like those you´ve mentioned (there are big exceptions).

'Marital Status' is status with regard to marriage.
'Single' means "never been married" --- there is no such thing as:
~ "Single - Widowed"
~ "Single - Separated"
~ "Single - Divorced"
A person who is widowed -- is widowed.
A person who is separated -- is separated.
A person who is divorced -- is divorced.
Once you are married, you are never again considered to be 'single'.

Can I get a status that says something along the lines of if you are a girl and you are nice to me I may think you like me as more then a friend cause I'm middle aged and sad and lonely, so we are better off not talking at all, or its going to end badly?
