1Jn 5:7 For there arethree that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: andthese three are one.
1Ti 3:16 And withoutcontroversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believedon in the world, received up into glory.
Joh 14:26 But theComforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, heshall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Joh 8:42 Jesus saidunto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth andcame from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
Joh 15:26 But whenthe Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even theSpirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

as you can see none of those verses, have a command to receive (who)., this doctrine must be discuss with sincerity. This is part of being properly born again.
Watcher,
The Lord has kept salvation very simple. Why do we complicate it.
If you are talking about a command to receive the Holy Spirit, I do not specifically know of any such "command" given generally to everyone. Yes, Jesus commanded the Apostles to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:4.

Still wondering what you mean to say by the original post.

The subject speaks for itself, who will you receive, Jesus or the Holy Spirit?
Born again believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit and have the Son and the Father in them.

John 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

1 John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

We received Jesus into our heart when we become born again, and, after that, we received the Holy Spirit, of His timing and His way, which comes in a receiving of His faith in us for Him .

Now, 'faith' is the keyword here.

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit are one, Scripture teaches us, so, as someone's already said, when you receive Jesus into your heart, you receive all three . There is just an understanding of faithfully believing that God CAN be inside you, that you CAN have a Helper in your life, that you CAN have a Comforter, and, that you CAN have an Advocate who goes before you in all these ways to help you learn to grow in faith in Him more. :)

An indepht study of Revelation 21 and 22 might put more light on Who Jesus Christ really is and forever will be and has been from etternity past into eternity future. Like The Word clearly states " He has always and will always be. He is "I AM " He is NOT " I Will be" NO . HE IS "I AM " God bless brother star.

It is the Spirit that can see and hear.

The flesh is a vessel for the Spirit.

Which of us have with the eyes of our vessel seen the Messiah?

We believe to see.

John 20

26And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

At first i was a little unsure what you were trying to say.. if none of this makes sense then maybe i have misunderstood you.

Is it not true that when a christian bring someone to Christ, they pray the prayer of receiving Jesus? (that's how simple it is.

But is there a biblical support that directly said this?
Starfield on the other hand have provided a scripture that it is the Holy Spirit that is to be received. (john 7:39)
In the acts of apostle is there any scripture that shows they teach to receive Jesus?

Isn't this biblical support: John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.

You have to receive Jesus before you can receive the HS. Jesus is the Word and the Word teaches us of the HS.

We receive the Holy Spirit as God's sealing of the contract (covenant) which Jesus brought to us when we accept that contract as our means of walking before God. By the Holy Spirit moving in, we then become temples in which God lives in. By answering that door which Jesus knocks on, that spiritual door which allows Him to move in and sup with us, He then moves in.

We receive the Spirit, He cleans out the temple. God moves into His temple. But, we must first answer that door for Christ to give His Spirit.

I hope I have helped.

These are the verses before that.
[Joh 1:10-12] KJV v 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world kne, w him not. v 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. v 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

This is a good reference, however this was referring to receiving Jesus when he came in the flesh.
There is no question that they received Jesus during those days, one example was Zacchaeus

[Luk 19:5-6] KJV v 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. v 6And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

Ok, then try Acts 10:42-44 this teaches to receive Jesus and can't get anymore direct or simple to see and understand what is being said.

I have provided one scripture verse above: Acts 2:38
This verse is about the measure of the Holy Spirit that indwells in a believer.
However, there are other times when the Holy Spirit was given for the purpose of being a witness or for testifying the authority of the Apostles.

Here's
[Act 10:42-44] KJVv42And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. %v 43% To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. %v 44% While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

In these verses who do you think we need to receive?

And here's
[Act 2:38] KJV Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The above does not say receive Jesus, but we shall receive the gifts of the Holy Ghost.

But what do you think of this verse

[Act 19:2] KJV He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

Paul did not say, have you received the Holy Ghost since you received Jesus Christ.

Many verses in the bible saying to believe in Jesus, and that is how it is suppossed to be.

The above shows that some may believed in God and in Jesus but have not received the Holy Ghost, because they do not know He exist.

[[Joh 14:16-18]] KJV v 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; v 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. v 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

In these verses, we see the following.
1. Jesus leaving (no more chances of receiving him, dining with him, dwelling with him)
2. The Father will give us another comforter.
3. The comforter is the Spirit of truth (also knows as the Holy Ghost)
4. The Spirit shall be in us, dwelleth with us.

We cannot receive Jesus for He's in the Father (john 16:16), but he did not leave us comfortless
He send the Holy Ghost, which we can receive.

Repent - for we worship false gods.
Believe - the true God of Abraham, Isaac And Jacob, and in Jesus Christ his only Son.
Receive - the Holy Ghost

Please scripture support.
Of course Jesus Christ, because he is the one who made our legal position in the Heaven possible. Everyone has to be born of spirit to attain that position. Jesus Christ made it possible for us.

Ro 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Only if u have the spirit of Jesus Christ you are called spiritual, in other word born of spirit.

We are legally circumcised when Jesus was circumcised.
Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

We are baptized legally, when Jesus Christ baptized
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

We are crucified legally when Jesus was crucified.
Ga 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

We resurrected with him legally when he resurrected from dead
Col 2:12-13 ...wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses
Col 3:1 . If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

We all are sitting on the right hand side of God legally
Eph 2:6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus

Father reckons Jesus Christ as substitute for all Christians before the foundation and for all future.Father now looks on Christians as already having kept the commandments perfectly (because Jesus did it for us).
He made it possible for us to be born in the spiritual image of God.

Hope u understood my previous reply. I believe we will be born again only when we become like wind, that is to have spiritual bodies.

There is but one word in the Greek manuscripts to represent "begotten," and "born." Numerous Scriptures tell us that we are given in this life, only the ernest or downpayment of God's Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13-14).

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Furthermore, Jesus told Necodemus that when one IS ACTUALLY "born again" he is like the wind (John 3:3-8).

Jn 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Christians are not powerful and invisible as the wind is, in this life. From these two truths, we can establish that we are "begotten" of God's Spirit in this life, but we will not be "BORN of God's Spirit" until the resurrection to immortality (I Cor. 15:42-54).

Goodevening brothers and sisters. Starfield you will notice that the Scripture you quoted "Jesus Christ is neither the Holy Spirit nor the Father. He is the Son of God, the second person of the Godhead. Here, He is distinguished from God the Father: "...for I [Jesus] am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God" (John 20:17). " Was said before The Holy Spirit was poured out. There is only One God (YHWH) and there will always be only One God . He manifest in 3 "ways or forms" if you will pardon the expression . YHWH bless you all.

If u are chosen one of God, u will be born again as a wind (spirit) to enter the kingdom of God.

1Pt 1:23 Being born again (begotten), not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1Pt 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

I guess the answer is "word of God". It can be Jesus Christ, or it can be the word uttered by the Lord? i don't know. But i think if we are dedicating our lives to have "knowledge about God" that leads to a rebirth.

Re 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

It's not an argument but, i believe Babylon is the church institution which we have now. We have to come out of the church doctrines and understand God by ourself. God is calling his children to come out of Babylon.
