the funny thing is that the same people who condemn the roman catholic church in the strongest terms just -take the catholics' word for it- when it comes to the origin of sunday observance...

'these people are liars...except when they say something i agree with'

Once again we are confronted with Sabbath lunacy. The charge is somehow those Catholics changed a law of God for pagan reasons, or other such nonsense.

First off the mosaic laws were never once forced on any christian in scripture. In fact Paul writes about how some Jews insisted that circumcision be kept be the gentile converts. Paul refuted these legalistic"Judaisms" several times in Scripture. Paul wrote in Colossians 2:16
"Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath."

This verse plainly teaches us that we can eat any food and worship on any day we wish. Yet the neo-judaizers still insist on pushing defunct rules in clear violation of scripture. Scriptures such as Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Colossians 2:16-17, and Revelation 1:10 indicate that, even while the New Testament times was being written, the Sabbath is no longer being observed by Christians and that Christians are worshiping on the "Lord’s day", Sunday, instead.

Did the Catholics really change the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday? Let's see what the early church father's said of this:

Clearly there is no mention of the Catholic church changing a worship day because at this point there was no Catholic! So the charge that the Catholics changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday is devoid of any facts.

1) The Catholic church had nothing to do with changing any worship day.

2) Scriptures indicate Christians observed Sunday as a day of worship.
(
Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Colossians 2:16-17, and Revelation 1:10 )

3) Col. 2:16 forbids others from judging anyone on what they eat or which day they attend church
.
BRAVO BRAVO "clap"

"For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.[SUP]2 [/SUP]Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. [SUP]3 [/SUP]I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. [SUP]4 [/SUP]You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. [SUP]6 [/SUP]For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love." Gal 5:1-5

Take your SDA legalism elsewhere, because grace and our sovereign God and Saviour Jesus Christ save, not keeping Old Testament laws.

Did you know the Ten Commandments only appear in two places in totality in the Old Testament?? Once in Exodus 20:3-17 and repeated before the children of Israel went into the promised land in Deut 5:7-21? No where else!!

What that means is that it was not important enough for any of the major prophets or minor prophets to repeat it. In fact, most of the prophets just pleaded that the people worship the Lord their God. We are under obligation to obey Christ, who came to fulfill the law, not to prolong it!

Turns out keeping the Sabbath on Saturday in 2013 doesn't grant me salvation. Hmmm. It's almost as if Jesus is the way, the truth and light, and no one comes to God but through him. Like Jesus died to forgive our sins and provide salvation and that faith in Jesus alone will get us saved.....

Nah..... let's just bicker about which day of the week we call the sabbath.

It's not like their was one united Jewish religion back then. The bible is full of different factions, and believe you me these Jewish factions were very different from each other. Just as they are today with the new factions of Jews in 2013.
I don't think that because there were Jewish factions back then, Christians shouldn't try to find what God wants of them today. If the Pharisee would have discussed openly and looked at themselves carefully they would have seen truth.

We know that Jesus is the truth and the light. We are talking about the best way to walk, the walk that is closest to how Christ wants us to walk. I think learning as much as we can and searching for that way best we can is worth while.

Do you think that any discussion is bickering?

You keep saying not to obey law, it isn't important. That is not what God says. You go on about legalism. Legalism is legalism, law is law, one does not define the other. Christ, forgiveness and law are items that need to be thought of together, legalism does not have to be included.

Exodus 13:9, "And it shall be as a sign (could easily be translated MARK) to you upon your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that Yahweh's Law shall be in your mouth; for with a strong hand Yahweh has brought you out of Egypt.

*sign=Word #226, Hebrew Dictionary,Strong's Exhaustive Concordance,
meaning mark, token, sign, consent, flag, evidence of consent.

Revelation 14:9-12, "And the third malak followed them, saying with a loud voice: If any man worships the beast and his likeness, and receives his mark in his forehead or upon his hand, The same will drink of the wine of the wrath of Yahweh, which is poured out without dilution into the cup of His indignation. And he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy malakim, and in the presence of the Lamb; And the smoke of their torment ascends up forever and ever. And they have no Sabbath night and day (because the beast changed the Sabbath), who worship the beast and his likeness, and whoever receives the mark of his name. In this manner are the saints purified--by keeping the Laws of Yahweh, in conformity with the faith in Yahshua Messiah.

upon your hand and as a memorial between your eyes,
your actions are with your "hand" and your belief/faith is done with your "memorial between your eyes."
Please show which words in the original Greek translate to "because the beast changed the Sabbath" in Rev 14:9-12.

(SBLGNT)

We're Christians here on Christian Chat, so naturally we have great concern whether or not the phrase "because the beast changed the Sabbath" is a good translation of Rev 14:9-12.

Rev 22:18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; (NASB)

When will y'all understand that Jesus is our Sabbath. The commandments repeated in the NT did not include keeping Sabbath. Because if we put our faith in what Jesus did at the cross, we have kept the Sabbath. There is no rest outside of accepting Christ. Only bondage to sin with no escape.

Now I am not saying that the law is bad. But, to place faith in keeping law, negates the cross and God will not accept that.

My apologies I did not mean it in that manner, the catholic church is the beast and they are the ones who "changed", it was prophesied to happen

Daniyl 7:25, "And he will speak great words against Yahweh, and will wear out; mentally attack to cause to fall away,
the saints of Yahweh, and think to change times , and Laws." I put it in () bit I forgot to italicize. I was typing in a hurry.

I agree, problem is churches don't teach the difference and take advantage of peoples ignorance. People have no idea the of the real meaning of Yahshua's encounters with the Pharisees because they don't understand Pharisaical law, the Talmud.

mark 4 v 11-13
Mark 4:11-13, "And He said to them; Unto you it is given to know the great secrets of the Kingdom of Yahweh, but to those on the outside, all things come in parables, So that seeing they may see, but not perceive; and hearing they may hear, but not understand; unless at any time they should be converted, and their sins be forgiven them. The Parable of the Sower Explained Then He said to them: Do you not understand this parable? But how then will you understand any parable?"

What does this parable have to do with not keeping Sabbath? Nothing.

Jesus is not the Sabbath, He created the Sabbath. Reducing Him to somethin He created is bordering on blasphemy.

I wish each and every Christian in the world would go to the bible and history and follow how our Christian church developed, hundred year by hundred year. We have enough material that has been saved that we can do that, now.

You can see in Acts the problem of the Jews lifestyle and the gentile lifestyle and how they clashed. Think of yourself as a gentile who worshipped on Sunday, always had. Nimrod, great grandson of Noah started a religion worshipping the sun and the idol worshippers followed suite. The Jews worship included every step of their everyday life, it is how both Jesus and Paul lived. For thousands of years it had always been that any time a gentile decided to accept the Jew's God, they became Jews, accepted their lifestyle. Christian Jews never gave a thought to changing their lifestyle, only that the gentile should change theirs.

Most of the letters of the NT revolve around this problem.

Then the temple was destroyed in a war, and by 136 the Bar Kokhba Rebolt had killed off the Christian Jews. Besides, the Christian Jews wouldn't join the orthodox Jews in the revolt because Kokhba was called the messiah. That made the orthodox angry. Now, gentile men led the church, and more and more they talked of separating from those strange Jews, but the idea hadn't taken absolute hold of them. Even in the year 250 most Christians wouldn't have considered that all of Judaism was wrong, even as they watched the Jews denying that Christ was the messiah. Gentiles weren't thinking about connecting the two ideas.

Now a pagan emperor of Rome, dabbling in Christianity, decided to make Christianity the state religion. You can imagine the problems of that if our president ordered you to become Muslim. He also wanted no disagreements about what this religion stood for. He called a council, said he would not have a thing to do with it, but they had to decide about Christianity. He did actively participate, though, and he wanted those hated Jews to have nothing at all to do with this new religion.

This Nicene Council ruled that Christ was indeed God, and that Passover should become Easter. A quote from the minutes of the Council reads: "And in the first place, it seemed very unworthy for us to keep this most sacred feast following the custom of the Jews, a people who have soiled their hands in a most terrible outrage, and have thus polluted their souls, and are now deservedly blind. "

It was the Council of 364 that outlawed Saturday worship as too Jewish.

I don't think it was scripture telling us to change our worship day at all. I think it is scripture telling us that worshipping God is more than the day you choose for obeying about rest.

I would rather follow what God says to do about it, though, than what an old Roman emperor and 1st century pagans said about it.
I think you all need to read and then look into this. Constantine minted the pagan SUN god (Sol Invictus Mithra) on his coins 30 years after "converting," the holy day of the SUN god was SUNday, who cahnged the Sabbath to SUNday? Constantine council of Nicea 321ad

Daniyl 7:25, "And he will speak great words against Yahweh, and will wear out; mentally attack to cause to fall away,
the saints of Yahweh
, and think to change times and Laws."

Mattithyah 15:8-9, "These people draw near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me. But in vain they do worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men."

1 Yahchanan 2:4-5, "He who says: I know Him, but does not keep His Law, is a liar, eand the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His Law, in him truly is the love of Yahweh perfected: by this we know that we are in Him."

DO YOU KNOW YAHWEH? Your pastor tells you that you do, but do this Scriptures?

Jesus is not the Sabbath. He said Remember the Sabbath ( seventh day) and keep it holy. The Seventh day is a sign that identifies Gods people bar none. Although there may be Christians who keep or that is observe Sunday, it does not point to God. It points away for Him and His truth.

What a narrow understanding. There are over 500 Sabbath keeping groups and the SDAs are only one of them. Apparently, most do not know much about the Sabbatarian world.

A day of the week is your God? How many times was Christ asked: "What Commandments?" And how many times did He point to the same Commandments from the beginning? And here you try to claim some new commandments from some Jesus that Christ doesn't know. Christ came to fulfill the Commandments by doing the Commandments. Yet somehow you think to fulfill the requirements is a removal of them? Christ showed you how to fulfill the Law by DOING it. And your idea is to fulfill the Law by doing away with it? Yet liars are still liars, thieves are still thieves, murders are still murders and you think that repentance...to turn around and DO the Commandments as Christ requested negates the cross? Better yet, by keeping the Commandments and the bearing of your own cross and not speaking lies, not cheating or stealing from others, not hating each other, not being full of guile is not acceptable to God. Christ did not do away with the Sabbath, and when they came together to break bread on the first day of the week, it was the day after they kept the Sabbath. And because Friday was payday, the Church said not to worry about setting tithes aside now but rather prepare for the keeping of the Sabbath and on the first day of the week they gathered together to break bread and gather their needs for the upcoming week. Christ said have faith and keep the Commandments; your God says have faith and forget the Commandments...meet on the first day of the week and serve God a little and serve mammon a little and all will be well? Break all the Commandments you want and turn not aside nor repent because you have some faith in something you don't really understand and based upon some perversion of scriptures to serve a Christ of a generation of vipers.

Welcome to the World. And the fruit of it: Liars, deceivers, murderers, destruction...because you have turned aside from the Law of the House above the top of the mountains: Welcome to the World, welcome to the Bottomless Pit's beginning found in Deut. 28:15...This is the Christ you serve and have put your faith in. And out of this Pit arises that Great Dragon, that Beast System, and that deceiver you call your Christ. Have faith in the true Christ that this will be the reward of those that turn aside of doing the will of God. God is "ONE," and there is no Devil beside Him. For good or for evil, your reward is with Him. That wicked one exists in your own heart to resist God, and the voice of Christ is not heard in you.

To keep the Commandments and have the faith of Christ is how you worship the God I know. No other worship is as acceptable as this. My God is my Father. And He is ONE, and for good or evil, our reward is with Him. And the Son reinforces the desire of the Father, and whether you do good, or do evil...by the same deeds will you receive justification or condemnation. But as you have sown, whether it be good or whether it be evil, such shall you reap and you have a faith that makes God into a liar?

The final word from Rev. 21:14: "Blessed are they that DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter into the city."

Your faith is in a ...W I D E... gate descending into a Bottomless Pit of curses.
Why not lie to get your way? Why not cheat? Why not steal? Why not murder? and you find yourself surrounded by liars, cheaters, thieves, and murderers just like yourself and the Christ you serve and wonder why that is. You are a lawless people that trust in the traditions of men. You have given your backside to God.

I do not know what Bible you are reading that states that " the whole world is the Church". The majority of this World is not much of anything as far as Christianity is concerned. Only a very select few understand Gods word at this day and time and only those who have His Spirit dwelling in them.
