Jer 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
Jer 17:6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
Jer 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
Jer 17:8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jer 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Jer 17:11 As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.
Jer 17:12 A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.
Jer 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.
the fountains of living waters is the Holspirit of God the Father : Joh 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
Joh 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Joh 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
now denying the holy spirit is denying the very christ that saved and redeemed us remember it is written in christ is the fullness of the Godhead ; but it is not only receiving the Gift of the holy sp[irit but by abiding by GOd"s righteous laws of the works of the spirit but forbid not spesking in tongues for it is edifying to the spirit , because if all we are is words and have no love we are but noisome instruments ( 1 corinth 13 ) alot of christians do not get the full comprehension of the word they sare in need of the holy spirit ignoring all commandments from God threough the apostles ,
without going into the subjest there are prophets as they are very vital but due to todays doctrines they are not being trained adequately and many are going about not realizing who they are or in error because a false teacher or prophet or teacher is identified by their fruits and it is written that every tree that does not bear good fruits is hewn down later thrown to the fire . and john said , he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Mat 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
Mat 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Mat 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. but the tongues are for edifying as well as for the unbelievers with fervent prayer and fasting all this is scriptural read up prove me wrong try it and see the rewards but remember that the holy spirit never contradicts his own word the Word of God and there are so many churches following error today they have forsaken the commandments of God , it is written he who refuses to hear the Law even their prayers shall be an abomination also ist is written
1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
now we must not forbid tongues or question his gifting but let everything done in ordee for God is not the author of cnfusion sin is sin and righteousness is righteousness

Tongues are biblical, why the hostility. By the way, nothing has ceased. People are still being healed and people are still being filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking tongues. What do yall have against it. Most true pentecostal live Holy lives as best they can. They preach the cross more than most psychology teaching churches. So whats the beef?

Kerry,

Perhaps maybe someone can finally please explain this. I don't think anyone disagrees that at some point the gifts will cease. The disagreement of course is in the timing. I think most can agree Paul does say the gifts will cease, but here's the thing if the gifts continued on why does James, who I think we can agree was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write this

James 5

13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

So the question is if the gifts continued why does James tell us to go before the elders,be anointed with oil and pray the prayer of faith? If the gifts continued why doesn't he say go to someone who has the gift of healing? Why does James state something that appears to be in contradiction to the gifts continuing? Why would James write this under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit pointing to a change,if there was no change?

But on the other hand isn't this in agreement with Paul when Paul says the gifts would cease and James is laying down part of the framework for that?

Kerry, the issue should come down to one thing who or what is the source of these signs these days? Jesus,John,Peter and Paul all warned us about false prophets who would come in the name of the Lord. Jesus even warns about those who CAN DO miracles, cast out demons and prophecy in His name. John tells us under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to TEST the spirits because not all of them are from the Lord. (Which is odd that the Holy Spirit is the one telling us to test these things and some will say these things won't be done to be tested when it's the Holy Spirit that tells us to test the spirits,is the Holy Spirit lying when He tells us to test the spirits and then turns around and won't allow it to be tested?)

So the real question again boils down to the question that needs to be answered, who is the source of the signs and wonders stuff that we are now? You have Hindus, those involved in Voodoo, and the occult who can also speak in tongues,we know that is false. If they can do it and we know that it is false, then by this and the Word we know the false exists. The plumb line in all of this is what is being seen as the signs and wonders these days is it true or false? That is the heart of the matter.

4. To authenticate Apostolic authority. Tongues was one of the five “signs of an apostle” (II Corinthians 12:12). Every recorded instance of tongues was either preformed by, or witnessed by an apostle, and there are only three cases recorded (Acts 2:1-4, 10:45-46, 19:1-7). After the Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrection he said, “these signs shall follow them that believe…” (Mark 16:17). In this verse “[t]he verb ‘believe’ in the Greek is in the aorist tense…which refers to those who did believe, not those who would believe at that time or in the future.” (Spiros Zodhiates) In this verse the Lord is speaking to “the eleven” apostles (Mark 16:14) who should have already believed. There were five signs that followed the believing apostles. They were: 1) they cast out devils (Acts 5:16, 16:16-18, 19:11-12), 2) they spake with new tongues (Acts 2:3-4), 3) they took up serpents (Acts 28:1-6), 4) they could not be hurt by drinking poison (tradition says that an attempt to poison John failed), 5) they laid hands on the sick and they recovered (Acts 3:1-11, 5:12-16, 14:8-11, 28:8-9). These, to be sure, were “the signs of an apostle” (II Corinthians 12:12; Mark 16:17-18). “And [the apostles] went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the Word with signs following.” (Mark 16:20) The Lord confirmed the authority of the apostles and their companions to write the inspired written Word of God with these five signs. It is likely that some of the apostles’ associates, like Mark, Luke, Barnabas, Philip, and others, also displayed some of the sign gifts which authenticated their temporary revelation gifts.

You have a bad habit of just pulling stuff off of sites that aren't proven, and some of them are just whackos. This helps everyone to understand that you will do anything and say anything to prove your point. I thought you were more educated than that!?! Over half the time you're posting to presidente, the stuff you're saying is just random. Some of it's not true at all. Either write what you know about, or bite the bullet, because this is starting to look like a circus.

AGAIN,WHERE DO YOU GET THESE STATEMENTS? Nowhere in scripture does it say that an apostle has to see Jesus to qualify him. Sheesh! Are you just grabbing this out of thin air? PROVE ALL THINGS! The ball's in your court now.

If many would get it into their heads that the Lord told us to test these things because of the deceptions that are out there, because of His love for us. He does not want to see us destroyed because of them. It is for our own good that we are to do so. (God doesn't need to test it because He already knows) It's for our sake. He warned us that there would be such strong delusion that if it were possible that even the elect could be deceived. It's a strong warning, but one that is needed to be heeded. Can someone tell me why it so often seems as if that warning is not taken seriously?

And why is it not OK to test these when the HOLY SPIRIT told us to test the spirits? We are told not to test Christ, but we are told to test that other stuff because of the deceptions.
Anyone who has a locked mindset will only see one thing when the evidence has shown....... Exactly what they're looking for. They will see nothing else.

But what evidence have you shown that this is from God? All you have given is based on subjective hearsay. We are commanded to test the spirits, yet you say it is not allowed to be tested. So when John was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write that we are to test the spirits isn't the Holy Spirit not only showing that it is what we ARE TO DO but that He wants us to do it? And again most of what has been shown is fake. Where is the real signs and wonders that people is out there? That is what is being asked for yet no ONE has shown it. That is what is being asked for. What is being asked for is so that we can see the difference between the two.

I guess in 2000 years of spiritual teaching your church still hasn't ATTAINED UNITY nor MATURETY. Grow up and become a real Christian already and stop the fake silly nonsense the Lord is being patient in. There is no need for the Holy Spirit to speak in tongues any longer as the Christian Church has ATTAINED UNITY AND MATURETY. Go somewhere else with your BS. Stop being part of the Anti-christian church you deceivers.
The church has attained WHAT??? WHERE??? It obviously hasn't been attained in your church because you're there. I can't believe you're telling somebody else to grow up. You want to call the works of the Spirit "silly"? It's your salvation you're playing with. I would tell you to stop blaspheming, but I'm wondering if you'll listen.

Are the following clips "true examples" of God's Holy Spirit in action ... i.e. ... prophecy and tongues ? I'm assuming from an earlier post/reply that both Kenneth Copeland and Howard Rodney-Browne have been identified as fraudulent and fakes ? Let's move on to this guy. Perhaps the process of elimination will help us to discern the real ? Give 5 or 6 minutes to each for full effect. They're all very short clips :)

But what evidence have you shown that this is from God? All you have given is based on subjective hearsay.

Speaking of hearsay, you do realize that your arguments as well are nothing but hearsay until proof is given? I have seen no proof. Again, everything you have said about your own life is nothing but hearsay, because you haven't proven it. By your standards you are judged.
We are commanded to test the spirits, yet you say it is not allowed to be tested.
Again, another boldfaced lie. I never said that.

I see now that you've resorted to lying on me and misquoting me. Just how far will you go? Who else are you lying on? Are you so eaten up with self importance that you will stoop to do this? Why should I believe cessationism when their own people lie, pull trash off the Internet to prove their point, and make random statements they cannot back up? Why do we need to even defend our side and all, when you guys are destroying your own witness?

Making false claims is not testing the spirits. Telling everybody that it's false, heresy, foolishness, etc., etc. is not testing it, but making false claims.

Obviously, you don't know how to test the spirits because you haven't done so far. Personal beliefs have to be proven, which means when you make your slandering statements, you have to prove them. You are not exempt.

The question is not whether tongues are biblical but whether the tongues in the charismatic movement or Pentecostal church are biblical. Paul said that tongues would cease. People were being healed before Pentacost. God heals both the righteous and the unrighteous. Believers are filled with the Holy Spirit but many never speak in what is commonly referred to as tongues. I'm all for holy living if it is an outworking of the presence of God's Spirit in the heart. the beef is that while both parties use the same terms each defines them in the context of their own doctrines which causes them to be at odds with the bible.

Sorry but you do keep saying that God will not show any of this to those of us on this side so it can tested. Yet God does tell us to test it.

Back up your claims on where you were lied about.

What I said is what we have seen is false. What we have asked is where is the true. Big difference between the two.

UMM I did back them up Stephen but you refuse to see it. It's not slander when it's the truth.

stephen,
what place does the Written Word of God (we call the Bible) hold in your world?

i am not asking about The Bible INSTEAD of God, so please don't go there.

what is your primary source to find out ANYTHING God has said to the world (including you)?

alright. we'll prove all things - from Scripture.

then you'll need to explain why you deny what The Bible says.

why doesn't it surprise me you do not know where this 'statement' comes from?

PART I

The Church, if you did not know, is compared to a building, a temple, a household.
Apostles and prophets were foundational - WITH Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:19-22
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

how many foundations were poured when your church was built?
are you guys pouring new concrete every Sunday? if so, again i would suggest you leave the building immediately, because it's going to come down on your heads.

a PERMANENT building has ONE (1) foundation.
laying another foundation means the builders are utterly ill-equipped and their house will fall.

maybe you didn't know the saints are compared to living stones (material used to ADD TO the house AFTER the Cornerstone is first laid, and the foundation is set).

the wise builder then proceeds to set STONES UPON, ON TOP of the foundation.

how many foundations are in your home today Stephen? this is not a rhetorical question - please answer it.

........

If you're a dedicated handyman and enjoy doing projects around your home, it's very likely that you've considered building your own house. The Disciples (graduated; promoted, and sent out as Apostles) were to be.....what?

GUESSERS ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

or were they specifically to have WITNESSED what had happened.

do you know what the word WITNESS means, stephen?

if you have a Red Letter Bible, tell me WHERE "i got" the "statements" that the Apostles had to have been WITNESSES.

go to Luke 24 - read the WHOLE chapter.

The Resurrection

On the Road to Emmaus

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

Luke 24
44Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

who was He speaking to?- Then he said to them
what was He bringing to mind and interpreting for them? - These are my words that I spoke to you
when did He speak the words He was now bringing to mind for them? - while I was still with you

what did he say about all of it? - that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.

did Jesus just make stuff up? - or did the words He spoke to them while he was yet with them MATCH what was written about Him in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms?
what was HIS AUTHORITATIVE SOURCE FOR THEM? - Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures

is Jesus still referring them to the scriptures here, to KNOW that what He said, and what THEY SAW matched and was TRUE? - and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

is this the Gospel message the entire Bible contains beginning with Moses and the Prophets? Jesus said IT IS:

that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

did Jesus suffer?
did he rise on the 3rd day from the dead?
had repentance and the forgiveness of sins already begun to be proclaimed from Jerusalem while Jesus was already with them (BEFORE The resurrection)?

then what did Jesus say?

You are witnesses of these things.

Apostles HAD to have seen Jesus - have you figured that out yet? YOU ARE MY WITNESSES
AGAIN,WHERE DO YOU GET THESE STATEMENTS? Nowhere in scripture does it say that an apostle has to see Jesus to qualify him. Sheesh! Are you just grabbing this out of thin air? PROVE ALL THINGS! The ball's in your court now.
what does Scripture say so far about the disciples WHO WERE THE APOSTLES BEING HIS WITNESSES - WITNESSES OF EVERYTHING THAT HAD HAPPENED AND EVERYTHING HE HAD SAID TO THEM?

Who in Scripture, in Luke 24, SAID they were His Witnesses?

1) thin air
2) zone
3) stephen
4) JESUS CHRIST

................

then what did Jesus say TO THEM?

Luke 24
48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.

do you know what "the promise of my Father" was? - power from on high

who did he say the promise of my Father would come to ? - upon you.

where did He say the promise would be poured out? - stay in the city

what was THE POWER FROM ON HIGH? - see Acts 2 - LANGUAGES AND SIGNS AND MIRACULOUS POWER - BECAUSE THEY WERE WITNESSES OF ALL THOSE THINGS, AND HE WAS SENDING THEM OUT - WITH POWER.

You are witnesses of these things.

please respond to this post and reconcile it with your NOT KNOWING where the statement came from.

You would think that anybody would be able to understand why I asked the question. But no............... She replies with something that doesn't even talk about it, loading up the page with paragraphs and pictures.

But did they speak to the issue? No. She didn't say a single thing about how she believed that the apostles had to see Jesus or they were not apostles. Not one word!

I guess maybe she thinks we would just get tired and quit from all the useless paragraphs she's writing.

You want to know what's funny? When these kooky televangelists are asked a direct question, they will do the same thing! The irony of it all! Acting like the ones you're so against!

The church itself is being destroyed through a disobedience of the word a lack of prayer life the giftings are there all you have to do once receiving the holy ghost is ask and you will receive at least it was in my case you have to believe but the only problem doctrine has to be set like the apostles had laid through christ the rewuirement of an apostle.is to see christ an apostle comes with a mission given by christ himself and remember paul sayin in scripture and last as an untimely birth seen by me , paul saw the glorified risen christ he witnessed ouR lord on the road to damascus

You are witnesses of these things.

what does Scripture say so far about the disciples WHO WERE THE APOSTLES BEING HIS WITNESSES - WITNESSES OF EVERYTHING THAT HAD HAPPENED AND EVERYTHING HE HAD SAID TO THEM?
