In all of this debate, I did not read one comment about the Sabbath being a day of rest; I do not say that in chastisement.

I grew up Conservative Mennonite and observed a Sunday sabbath until I was almost 30. At an early age, I always quietly pondered the timeline of Christ's death. An elderly, a former Catholic, brought the topic up while I was visiting them and answered my questions without realizing it. During that week, God called me to start observing the original sabbath.

This has caused issues over the years with other Christians - some accusing me of being a SDA, others of trying to observe 2 Sabbaths since I still attend church on Sundays, or me trying to become Jewish. I've also seen the two extremes of its just another day and then other end of the pendulum swing where you go to church and that is it for the day - no playing any games, no socialize, tv, eating out, etc.

I observe a Saturday Sabbath because God commanded me to. Not so that I am under a law; instead my body, mind, and soul is able to rest. I do not ascribe to a denomination, I am a Christian - nothing more and nothing less. We were created to worship and praise God every day. If someone wants to attend church or observe Sabbath on a day other than me so be it.

What???!!!!! Our bodies and minds need a day of rest???!!!!???
(Just kidding bro.)
- The resplendent reason for a day of rest is so evident, that to oppose it would be foolish and derogatory for the naysayer.
- - Well said and God Bless.:)

20 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
[h=3]Exodus 20:1-17[/h]
so once you keep the sabbath everything is good and you don't have to follow the others? that's just the thing.. sda put the sabbath over everything as the most holy thing and forget about the rest, do you work 6 days every single week, have you ever been sick and had to miss a day or a few days? what about when you get older and can't move as you can at an earlier age? it never said you can cease working when you get older.. this was ALWAYS meant for the jews not us, and the jews wasn't even able to continue with this SO GOD MADE A NEW COVENANT WITH THEM,

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
[h=3]Hebrews 8:7-13[/h]

I am a Sabbath keeper. The reason I keep this is because it gives me an entire day to focus on Yahweh. and this is my rest, im free from stress, bills, all worldliness, etc. The total focus gives joy that can be found nowhere else, literally refreshing.

I mean this comment as a complement to what you said, as you stated you also honor the Sabbath of Yahweh.

Brother Josh I would like to ask are the other 9 Commandments still binding?

And also if my honoring of the Sabbath is showing love to Father Yahweh by setting aside a day (a day He chose at creation) to focus on Him 100%?

the scripture proves that it is no more... i have nothing against you for chosing a day to focus on God 100% the problem is people have a religious spirit to this, you must do this.. and must do that and the point of the matter is that i just keep showing everyone.. over and over and over and over again... you cannot keep the 10 commandments... but you want others to keep it and it's so sad that everyone got so much pride in them that it would be shameful to them to come forth and say, yes i can't keep it perfectly.. but i love God and he said if we love him we will keep his commandments, but why can't i keep this perfectly? well.. because it's not suppose to be kept in the first place

listen...i didn't know what will happen when i gave my life to God but i kept his commandment and surrender my life to him then the love came
1 John 3:23
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

until anyone experience the supernatural power of God, they will not know what to keep or what not to keep, when you truly accept christ and you feel the change in the life you will feel that supernatural love that enables us to love each other, that is it... believe in God truly and faithfully to know his love and you will be able to love, but the problem is.. it's too simple for people that's what it is

I dont fully disagree with what you say, certianly none are perfect, if we were there would have been no need for Yahweh to send us this mercy the of the real Sacrifice. and again none are saved by works, but we know:

Yaaqob 2:26, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so the faith without works is dead also."

and once we have been cleansed we are to strive to walk as Yahshau did, or simply remove sin from our lives.

Yahchanan (John) 5:14, "Afterward, Yahshua found him in the sacred precincts and said to him: Behold, you are healed. Sin no more, or a worse thing will come upon you."

and the scriptures give us a clear definition of sin:

1 Yahchanan 3:4, "Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."

i feel obedience is key, we are not saved by works, but as Shaul said:

Romans 3:31, "Are we then doing away with the Law through the faith? By no means! Rather, we establish the Law!"

just because none are saved by Law dosent mean we disregard it.

Is there anyone who has driven a car that has not broken a traffic law? So because none can keep EVERY traffic law shall we then do away with all traffic laws? No, it would be complete chaos.

You know the term mystery of iniquity? iniquity is lawlessness, transgression. Satans power will be at its fulness when the mystery of iniquity is at its fulness. again we are not saved by Law, but according to (my reading) of this Scripture one can be rejected for their lawlessness/transgression.

Mattithyah 7:21-23, "Not everyone who says to Me; Teacher! Teacher! will enter into the Kingdom of Yahweh, but only he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day; Teacher! Teacher! Have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and in Your
Name performed many wonderful works? But then I will declare to them; I never knew you. Get away from Me, you who practice iniquity."

Iniquity is Word #458 from word #459, Greek Dictionary, Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, meaning not subject to (Yahweh's) Laws, transgressor.

I see you have noticed the change, praiseYahweh, i have also.

I agree with what you say, but as the beginning of our walk, certianly Yahweh must call us when we are filthy (completely) or there would be no proper time to call us at all. I do think however once we have recieved this that we must stive to the fulness and stature of the Messiah,

1 yahchanan (John) 2:6, "He who says he abides in Him, is himself also obligated to fwalk exactly as He walked."

Not a change that happens overnight. I myself can certianly say I have a long road ahead of me, but one i am glad to be on.
We all come from different walks but we are to all end up in the same place.

Ephesians 4:13-16, "Until we all come to the same unity of the faith, and of the same knowledge the Son of Yahweh has, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness; (perfection), of Messiah. No longer are we to be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with devery wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive. Instead, speaking the etruth in flove, we may grow up in all things unto Him Who is our Head--Messiah--From Whom the whole body, being fitly joined and brought together by that which every joint supplies; according to the effective working in the measure of every part, causes growth of the body itself for the building of the body of Messiah, in love."

Thank Yahweh that we are called and even a part of this, HalleluYAHWEH!

i feel so bad rick.. this cultism of man made rules.. just dragging people faster down to hell.. i have so much friends in it, and it's so sad to see they so full in the world can't help smoking partying drinking sex nothing but soon friday evening reach, they got so annoyed sometimes and say.. boy i wish it wasn't sabbath this evening got a cool party tonight wish i could've went... it's so sad to see... HOW CAN YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO IS BORN IN SIN? TO FOLLOW SOMETHING? it's so sad to see man.. i try to help some of them by telling them come bible study, they tell me just come to church on saturday.. and they truly think they are saved because they keeping this one particular day holy and might i add CANNOT KEEP THE OTHER COMMANDMENTS, i really would like to just sit down and have a long talk with one of you on CC if you have an open mind and willing to find the truth yourselves instead of just going into a conversation with an adventist mindset, if you do that you will be against anything that goes against what you believe in and would even reject the truth in that process
No disrespect, but which adventist have you been speaking with?
The sabbath's not a burden it's an honor and a seal.
What exactly were you going to show them at bible studies that contradicts keeping sabbath?
And no self-respecting adventist has told you we believe we're saved because we keep the sabbath.
We keep the sabbath because we are saved.
A fruit tree doesn't produce fruit to be a fruit tree.
It produces fruit because it is.
And if a few corrupt people make you pass judgement on the entire church then every church should be condemned.

And i hold the counter view, Im still trying to find a verses that says not to honor the 4th Commandment of Yahweh.

Colossians 2:16-23, "16Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths, 17which are a shadow of the coming things, and the body [is] of the Christ; 18let no one beguile you of your prize, delighting in humble-mindedness and [in] worship of the messengers, intruding into the things he hath not seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh, 19and not holding the head, from which all the body — through the joints and bands gathering supply, and being knit together — may increase with the increase of God.20If, then, ye did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances? 21— thou mayest not touch, nor taste, nor handle — 22which are all for destruction with the using, after the commands and teachings of men, 23which are, indeed, having a matter of wisdom in will-worship, and humble-mindedness, and neglecting of body — not in any honour, unto a satisfying of the flesh."

Ithink we have v16 down, I want to focus on 20-23, as to see context. Shaul (Paul) in nearly all his thoughts talks about a topic and then goes on to explain, he uses an advanced style of writing as his (worldly) education was beyond that of the other NT writers.

20If, then, ye did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances?

So he is saying if your dead to the world why would you subject yourself to its (the worlds) ordinances. To think he is saying if your dead to the world then why would you subject yourself to Yahweh"s/Yahshua's Commandments would make no sense, but he explains it further.

21— thou mayest not touch, nor taste, nor handle
the pharisees had a law in which you could not eat meat and cheese togather, or even within 4 houhs of eachother. Now this is not in Yahweh's Law even, Yahweh's Law says dont boil a child in its mothers milk (3 times) (the local pagans had this as a religious practice Yahweh did not want His people to partake in these evil pagan practices) the pharisees using something called "midrashic interpretation" the pharisees looked at it and said well since it says this three times it must meant three different things. SO THEY MADE UP THEIR OWN LAW, that was completely disconnected from Scripture and enforced it as from Yahweh.

22
which are all for destruction with the using, after the commands and teachings of men, So here very clearly he states "the commandments of men", now if you read from 16-20 you see he stays on topic, and 20 says basically if your dead to the world why do what the world tells you, so we can see he is still on this topic from v16. In this verse 22, he says "which are all for destruction", how does Sabbath lead to destruction and it would also have to be a "commandment of men" if there is ant commandment that is the farthest thing possible from being a "commandment of men" it is the Sabbath, it was from creation and it shows the AUTHORITY of the Creator, the mark of the Creator. Also tying a "commandment of men" to destruction Romans 8:13, "For if you live according to the
commandments of men, you will die; but if, through the Spirit, you put to death; put an end to, the evildoing of
mankind, you will live."
23which are, indeed, having a matter of wisdom in will-worship, and humble-mindedness, and neglecting of body — not in any honour, unto a satisfying of the flesh.

Pleasing of the pharisees by following the talmud. v22 for context = "after the commands and teachings of men"

you see the pharisees would have a problem if you did things according to Yahweh's instruction and not their ORAL LAW, this is shown in MATT 15, 23, mark 7:7-9, etc

Also i want to add you wrote:

3) with respect to a (Jewish) holiday
4) a new moon (Jewish calendars were based on the moon and new moons were celebrated.)

the jews did make their own holidays, Haunnaka and Rosh hashanna. when they left babylon they even changed the names of the moons (months), and rosh hashanna even changes the time of the new year, commandment and ordinances of men. the calendar Yahweh instuted is Yahweh's calendar, the one who created the heavens and the earth. Our current calendar is the gregorian calendar, which goes back to the bablonian calendar. Yahweh said the days end and begin at sunset, not the jews.

And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Mark 2:27

Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. Genesis 2:3

At this point in Genesis there was no Jew or gentile. The sabbath wasn't an ordinance of Moses it was sanctified at creation.

So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. Acts 13:42

On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. Acts 13:44

Keep in mind Paul was a gentile.

Hope this helps

I can't find in scripture where anyone is under law apart from disobedience to GOD.

If you are being led by the spirit, you are not under law. Galatians 5:18

There is no contradiction, there may be misunderstanding, the same guy that wrote that wrote this:

Romans 3:31, "Are we then doing away with the Law through the faith? By no means! Rather, we establish the Law!"

Romans 8:7-8, "Because the carnal mind is enmity against Yahweh; for it his not subject to the Law of Yahweh, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are of the flesh cannot please Yahweh."

Also I have to ask you sincerely, i my be misunderstaning you, but why are you tring so hard to find reasons not to follow 1 or all of the Commandments?

I take great joy in obedience, you are very zealous I bet if you tried it you would also?

Mattithyah 22:37-40, "Yahshua said to him: You must love Yahweh your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall
love your hneighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

The Messiah didnt say destroy, or does away with, He said HANG ALL the............

Let me help you...

Here is the church keeping the Commandments. Not the disobedient church, not the rejected church, the remnant of the church...

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Here are the saints (and every one of us desires to be numbered with them) obeying the Law...

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

And those who will inherit eteranl life, keep the Commandments...

Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

So, all you really have to do is look.

This is a bit misleading because the Greek does not say THE law (which suggests the law of Moses), but simply law. The implication being, of course, that faith (a commandment) is not lawless, but a commandment that fulfills the law of Moses. The other commandment is love. The one who does these two things has fulfilled all of the law of Moses and does not come under condemnation, and is well pleasing to GOD.

I have looked. Jesus' commandments are:

  • Believe in Christ

[The people] said to [Jesus], 'What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?' Jesus answered and said to them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe into him whom he has sent.' John 6:28-29

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord [by faith], so walk in him [by faith]. Colossians 2:6

  • Love your neighbor as yourself

A new commandment I give to you
: that you love one another. As I have loved you, also
you love one another. John 13:34

This is [GOD's] commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us. 1 John 3:23-24

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are summed up in this statement: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does not commit evil against a neighbor, therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:9-10

Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12

What are the great commandments of Moses' law?

  • Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:36-40

What does it mean to love GOD with all the heart, soul, and mind?

  • For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5:3
  • If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15
  • He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. John 14:21

And what are GOD's commandments?

This is [GOD's] commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1 John 3:23

There's no misunderstanding. Paul clearly says that only those who are disobedient to GOD, i.e., not led of the spirit to believe in him and love one's neighbor, are under law.
