In all of this debate, I did not read one comment about the Sabbath being a day of rest; I do not say that in chastisement.
I grew up Conservative Mennonite and observed a Sunday sabbath until I was almost 30. At an early age, I always quietly pondered the timeline of Christ's death. An elderly, a former Catholic, brought the topic up while I was visiting them and answered my questions without realizing it. During that week, God called me to start observing the original sabbath.
This has caused issues over the years with other Christians - some accusing me of being a SDA, others of trying to observe 2 Sabbaths since I still attend church on Sundays, or me trying to become Jewish. I've also seen the two extremes of its just another day and then other end of the pendulum swing where you go to church and that is it for the day - no playing any games, no socialize, tv, eating out, etc.
I observe a Saturday Sabbath because God commanded me to. Not so that I am under a law; instead my body, mind, and soul is able to rest. I do not ascribe to a denomination, I am a Christian - nothing more and nothing less. We were created to worship and praise God every day. If someone wants to attend church or observe Sabbath on a day other than me so be it.
