Hi everyone!

I have joined cc and I'm having problems loading the chat rooms! (It maybe on my end).

If you don't mind I would like to get to know some of you. I'm a single mother of a teenager. I am divorced. I am in my 4th year of study of Pastoral Ministry. (If you don't believe that female should be ordained in the churches then that you your right to have your opinion - But that is who I am). I live at a university campus - so internet is limited and I follow the same curfews of internet usage as the other college students.

I have a passion for outreach and evangelism and I would love to get to know some of you. If you have some time please leave a message and I can get to meet a few people though this forum.

Looking forward to some great conversations!

Hi Sparkle2003. Think of it as a miracle from God you weren't able to access the chatroom :). You stay here with us.

I'm sick as a dog today (long story) but welcome to CC. You brief description sounded like it had a much longer testimony to it! - like reading Cliff notes! Hope to hear it sometime in HD.

No prob with your gender and pastoral commitment from me. I admire it actually - you had a harder row to hoe.

Hi sparkie. No worries about the female pastor thing, as Canadians won't make it into heaven anyways. ;) (chances are you won't get that, but it's a joke haha)

Hi Sparkie -

I'm Catherder, or Steve. Father of three (all girls, two of which are teens - and one of those is already off to college).

Welcome!

Yes and yes!!! Cliff notes to the cliff notes to the cliff notes! ((smiles)) But all pointing to how great God is!

Thank you all for your brief introductions.

LOL Ugly - I got your joke, maybe not in the context in which it was intended. I'm at a Canadian University but 70-80% of the students are American! Funny they have to come here to learn about ministry - (smiles)!

Catlynn - Single Mothering is hard no matter the age. My daughter was 9 when he dad left. However before that he was military and gone 60% of the time. We didn't have the financial worries like we did once he left and that income was gone and I had the anticipation of his return to look forward to. The emotional distance was hard, and the fact that I was not a christian and did not have a 'church' to turn to was rough. There are many similarities with many differences - all with an understanding of your situation. One of my goals in ministry as I get ready to graduate is to provide for single mom's and their children. In the states - Only NA country I could get states, as of 2008 61% of children are in single parent home. In my opinion this is the new 'Widow's and Orphans' of the 21st century.

James 1:27
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans andwidows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

My prayers to you all and thank you for taking the time to say a little about yourself.

Joy in Jesus.

Arwen, from Canada asked what we thought wouldn't be in heaven... so naturally, Canadians came to my mind. If you knew Arwen you'd understand...

I'm sure these facts have nothing to do with the numbers.

19% of Canadian claim to be Evangelical Christians.
compared to
23-24% of American's

America has 9.2 times more people than Canada.

Soooooooo.. If we want to get technical here

73,730,909 American's will go to heaven (If in fact the 23% are truly 'born again')
6,362,569 Canadian will go to heaven (If in fact that 19% are truly 'born again')
67,368,340 More American's will be in heaven at the end of the day.

- So to say Canadian's will not be in Heaven - In comparison, you may have to look pretty hard to find one. And the fact that we will most likely be living in Igloo's, eating: whale blubber, polar bears, and tons and tons of 'timbits'; and speaking a weird language that involves words like (eh! aboot!); so you may never find us.

My kids love Timbits, I think we have 5 Tim Hortons in my area now and when we pass one I hear, Mom I want Timbits. We don't always get them, but they are good. I have to say you Canadians know how to make a good doughnut.

If I don't know Arwen - there is a big possibility I would know some of his friends and relatives. Since the big push in recent years by the pioneers to settle the west, more and more Canadian's have migrated in that direction in an attempt to find work, and so called 'Better life". It has caused some headaches for those left behind.

But I'm 90% sure I was moose hunting with his brothers, sister in law, who is the cousin of my ex-husbands brother in law's sister last week, or was it his dad's sister's nephew's brother in law's sister? Something like that anyway!

I hope you recognize humour Canadian Style? ;)

Hi! I'm Aimee, but some of my sarcastic friends refer to me as Duchess. I live in California. And apparently I look really old, because some woman asked me if I had grand kids yesterday while I was waiting for my doctor. Maybe I just looked that sick.

Anyway, I've been on CC for almost 2 years now, and I've met some really great people. I hope you make friends and join us on the boards! :)

Arwen is a she. Though being Canadian we can't tell for sure, what with all the facial hair and hairy arms and flannel shirts.

Ha, this thread is hilarious! Welcome to CC, sparkie2003. We're a pretty easy going group here in Singles, and tease a little, as you can see. :)

I'm Rachel, and as many here know, if you mention milk at all...I will get very excited. I LOVE MILK.

Hi Rachel. I'm looking forward to a point when I can join you all in the chat rooms. But for now I have to settle for this. Thank you all for introducing yourself. It's nice to get to meet you guys even if it's not ideal.

Ugly - Alright.. The flannel is the warmest clothes we have. If you live on the East coast that is added to by the fashionable long rubbers, (for walking in the bogs); The lovely bright yellow rain jacket - Did you know that yellow is the colour of sunshine and cheer; that is topped off with a wonderful sow-wester (or rain hat). Keeps the chill out of the cold Atlantic wind with something on our heads.

As for the overgrowth of hair - Well that helps us all us single folks keep warm during the long dark winter nights, and it serves as camouflage to helps us blend in with those pesky grizzly bears. In our old age it helps us blend in with the Polar Bears.

All these fascinating facts about Canada - I bet you didn't know about these before. I'm so happy I can be so informative to my American neighbours.
