How about the heroine who loves the Lord her God with all of her heart (even more than she loves her husband). I haven't seen too many roles like that sadly . Here is the 20 minute long and depressing search in the depths of my mind (and IMDB).
I honestly couldn't think of a woman from a movie who I would think is wife material. They are all so one dimensional. A pretty face but the heart isn't really where I'd want it to be.
I was initially going with Scarlett from gone with the wind because that movie was awesome, but then I remembered how spoiled she was.
So I tried to think about comedies and I was reminded of young Frankenstein, but both of the female leads committed adultery in the movie, so I wouldn't want to marry a woman like that either. Frau Blucher actually gets a nod there as she was pretty uptight so maybe she was a Christian. It was dang funny when she told Frankenstein to put on a tie when she caught him committing adultery. That and the horses always neighing.
So then I figured the heck with it I'll go with fantasy.
I was trying to think of a movie with a female lead who had strong moral character and used either a sword or a bow (because both of those things are awesome), but I couldn't think of one.
So then I went with action movies. I was almost set to go with Jamie Lee Curtis True Lies. She ends up being a spy which was pretty dang cool, and she's been vocal about the body dysmorphia in hollywood. I remember she did a photo shoot 5 or so years back where she refused to be airbrushed (so people could see what hollywood stars really look like). But her character on screen never really would have been wife material to me.
But, then I was reminded of sitcoms on TV and then there was a glimmer of hope. You get to see a lot more character building over a series than a movie.
So, my first thought was Debra from Everybody Loves Raymond. She's able to put a good face on it when her husband Ray is constantly putting his foot in his mouth, and she keeps him in line (because it would be boring to be married to a woman who never told you not to be selfish or kept you in line). She kept it clean and I really liked that.
