Wow. How many churches did you go to to find that out? 1? 2 maybe? Or did you stay home & watch TV?

Don't have a TV, but I find it ironic that if it's on TV it's either crazy TBN or crazy DayStar.

Ask a charismatic/pentacostal if they believe in name it claim it and they say no...then listen to their doctrine....their doctrine says yes.

I am no fan of these denominations. The gifts are real, the bible says they are, they are but the problem is not the existence of gifts.

Its the worship of them.

Legalism.

Holiness doctrines.

Genie God.

Emotional manipulations.

...and if your charismatic/pentacostal church has no independent financial accountability? If they preach the pastor is God's annointed and above reproach?

Run as fast as you can.

When I saw the ole "charismatic/pentecostal" phrasology slapped together, I realized that this statement, while a certain portion is true, is basically stereotypical at best. Did you know that even Wikipedia knows the difference? Sheesh!

Outside the extremism of charismania their common flaw is on 'emphasis'. The work of the Cross is quickly passed over in order to get to the 'meat' of the Holy Spirit and His gifts...consequentially they remain babes.

On the other hand the Cessationists/doctrinal types could spend a little more time in prayer during their studies relying on the Holy Spirit to open Scriptures to their understanding instead of parroting others.

Throw out your parrot beliefs & consider them as God's people, & you might come up with different answers. Don't be found believing what everybody else does because everybody else does.

Have you ever wondered why none of those crooks have NEVER been prosecuted? It's obvious not all of them are professionals at what they do. Yet they stay in the clear. They only go to jail on other unrelated crimes. Bakker was the only one I remember that did, & that's because it was an obvious unprofessional fraud. His wicked religious program would have went right on if he hadn't oversold his properties & got caught for fraud. The religious part is NEVER caught.

One phrase....separation of church and state. Yes, I know the phrase isn't in the constitution and we despise it when anti-theist groups use it to remove all semblance of Christianity from the public arena but this same philosophy is what keeps the Feds from major investigations into the finances of religious nonprofits. Imagine the uproar if suddenly the IRS began to investigate/prosecute faith based non-profits for misuse of funds.

The IRS policy for 501c3 organizations in regards to executive compensation packages is that an executive's compensation must be reasonable, but really has nothing codified as to what reasonable is so the Benny Hinn's of this world get away with living like royalty off the donations of unaware supporters who see them as "men of God" instead of the greedy charlatans they are.

There are several financial accountability organizations that rank Christian non-profits based on their financial transparency and how funds are used within the organization. It doesn't surprise me at all that organizations such as Benny Hinn's (just to use an example) blatantly refuse to release any financial information to these groups. You would think that if everything was on the up and up they would welcome the scrutiny.

Lawson's message was pretty basic and sound covering Sola Scriptura. The ironic part of it was he was relying heavily on the writings of others like John Owen to make his case.

Will you unlock your little mind for just a few minutes and quit associating all Pentecostals and charismatics with those heathen? I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about true Pentecostals. Most like you wouldn't know a true Pentecostal if he slapped you upside the head, and believe me, there are times I feel like doing that. We're treated so generic by the world, and that's to be expected. But by the rest of the church? You don't even know us, yet you talk about pentecostalism like a know-it-all. The only answers you and people like you have are those that you parrot from everybody else. Just following the crowd. If the crowd says it, it must be true. If anyone's generic, it's those that judge us like everybody else.

Not every Pentecostal is out there passing up Christ for the Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit does not speak of himself or bring glory to himself, but always glorifies the Lord. True Christians do not go after the Holy Spirit to glory in themselves, but to bring glory to the Lord Jesus Christ & to edify the body of Christ.

The truth of the matter is, anyone who takes an entire denomination and judges them all as one is a narrow-minded, self-righteous bigot. If that bothers you, you should stop and think about how other people feel when you judge them like that. I hope it bothers you.......... at least enough for you to pray through.

It's time some people find out that Pentecostals aren't some sort of mat for self-righteous people to wipe their feet on.
