Fed up with Obamacare yet?

Charitable Hospitals To Be Fined Under Obamacare | Acton PowerBlog

A new provision in Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code, which takes effect under Obamacare, sets new standards of review and installs new financial penalties for tax-exempt charitable hospitals, which devote a minimum amount of their expenses to treat uninsured poor people. Approximately 60 percent of American hospitals are currently nonprofit.

The bill was written by the major insurance companies.
There will still be 30 million uninsured citizens even after it takes effect.
Just another power grab.

And yet people still make excuses for this control mechanism...
They don't care. They don't look into what is really going on.
All your hear is people talking about pre-existing conditions and how people without insurance can be covered. No insurance company will deny anyone. Those with preexisting conditions have higher premiums, but they can still be covered. Even if people still didnt have insurance they could go to charitable hospitals for free treatment. My sister did this before she passed away. The medical bills were covered, and she had no insurance.
Now, thanks to Obama charity is disolved, these hospitals will be for profit.

IT is also in the constitution that the government cannot impose tax on its citizens, yet this is exactly what obamacare does. America, the land of the free is extinct.

Alas yes. Even sadder is that there are few to mourn her, as most don't even realise her passing. Communism won, without it's enemies even realising their defeat.

It's not over, not by a long shot.
America is still a representative republic.

I'm not sure. I certainly don't advocate giving up. But I think the freedom that was once taken for granted is gone.

I don't know. Government control is more and more prevalent here everyday. Aside from Obamacare, public schools are now being dictated. Even their lunches are controlled. Salt is not even allowed in schools now. Sounds silly, but their trying to control everything.

I know they are.
But things tend to change when people see they don't work. (At least in America)
As the fiscal noose tightens, the Americans who earn will simply pull out of the welfare state.
Not wanting local insurrection, the city, county, and state leaders will defer to the desires of their citizens.
- 26 states have already sued the federal government over obamacare.

Also, the relation of home schooling to quality edjucation is already well known by the centers of higher learning, many of the best scholarships are awarded to home schoolers. (Because many of the highest SAT scores come from that demographic)

So i bothered to look this up and came up with
Charitable Hospitals Treating The Uninsured Will Have To Jump Through Hoops To Meet New Obamacare, IRS Standards

[h=2]Tax-Exemption Of Non-Profit Hospitals Face Scrutiny From IRS[/h]About 60 percent of the hospitals in the U.S. are non-profit, or tax-exempt. But, according to a U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) investigation, non-profit hospitals only spend about 3.5 percent of their overall expenses on treating uninsured individuals who do not compensate them. With millions more Americans set to get insurance in the fall, that number could dwindle to nearly nothing.

So basically what this is saying is that if a non profit hospital gets 100 million in a year only 3.5 million is going to uninsured individuals. Those hospitals still claim tax exempt status only spending 3.5% of the money they get on these individuals.
So where is the rest of the money going? Operating costs obviously, but to what else?
It's a two side of the coin story. Every good thing gets taken advantage of.
Is it a draconian attempt to take us further down the ladder and under goverment control or is it policing of a system long taken advantage of?

The power of the representative republic has been diminished and handed over to the unchecked regulatory bureaucracy.

FDA EPA USDA OSHA DOE and the list goes on. These agencies have been given almost unbridled authority by congress to control by regulation. Not to say that any one of these agencies has gone completely rogue, but many of them are getting there.

I understand.
But we still have a powerful voice over our congress.
Also, as the fiscal situation tightens, those who work are making their voice heard.
In America, even the police and military side with the people. (Because they are the people)
- What I'm saying is, this nation is not like some other third world dictatorship - where what the leader says goes.
- - Not by a long shot. We have the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

IT is also in the constitution that the government cannot impose tax on its citizens, yet this is exactly what obamacare does. America, the land of the free is extinct.

haven't read the constitution?
Article 1 Section 8:
"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;"

so now I wonder if you've actually read the ACA regulations, or if you're just being reactionary & spinning the worst possible interpretation after reading an information-scarce article on a right-wing blog.

just so we can all be clear, and not the victims of either left or right wing propaganda, here is the actual law, from IRS.gov

Section 501(r), added to the Code by the ACA, imposes new requirements on 501(c)(3) organizations that operate one or more hospital facilities (hospital organizations). Each 501(c)(3) hospital organization is required to meet four general requirements on a facility-by-facility basis:

  • establish written financial assistance and emergency medical care policies,
  • limit amounts charged for emergency or other medically necessary care to individuals eligible for assistance under the hospital's financial assistance policy,
  • make reasonable efforts to determine whether an individual is eligible for assistance under the hospital’s financial assistance policy before engaging in extraordinary collection actions against the individual, and
  • conduct a community health needs assessment (CHNA) and adopt an an implementation strategy at least once every three years. (These CHNA requirements are effective for tax years beginning after March 23, 2012).

here is the full article outlining the forms required to be completed and what is new:

New Requirements for 501(c)(3) Hospitals Under the Affordable Care Act

i think it's better to find accurate information before we parrot back fear-mongering or patronizing headlines to each other.

Private ownership of people was ended with the Emancipation Proclamation.

Public ownership of people begins with Obamacare.

We did not take our freedoms for granted, we gave them away for a welfare check.

We believed that charity was the cure for poverty.

We taxed the rich calling it equality, when all it was, was covetness.

We felt the pain of the poor, over common sense and called it compassion and in effect are going to cause more poverty than our country has EVER experienced.

Tyranny always starts with good intentions. Its exactly how satan works. Take something like caring for others and pervert it into power into a fews hands and poverty for all.

Conservatism as we know it is dead...and the republican party killed it. No incumbant should ever win election again.

"but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;"

Sorry PostHu, but that means no tax based on personal income. (progressive)

Also, to post a few short sentences and claim that is the whole of the law is superfluous at best, and conveniently denies the facts of how it changes the cost of medical care for every american citizen.

I challenge anyone to do a search of actual living people, and their insurance rates and detuctables pre and post.
Also, the act leaves 30 million americans uninsured.
The act was written by the major insurance companies and HMO's.
The stock of those companies has soared.
Why? Because they will be providing healthcare at a lower cost per unit-(patient)? No.
Affordable healthcare? More like nationalized medicine.
Soon to be rationed like the rest of the socialized medical establishments of the world.

i'm pretty sure that's interpreted as meaning that congress can't single out a state or a group of states for tax burdens.

personal tax rates adjusted by income have been the norm since 1862 -- the very first income tax.

i think it's pretty clear that the claim "the Constitution forbids the government from collecting taxes" is patently false.

It's not working. We have built a house on sinking sand.
The leader is pushing us like a dictator. He gets his way
every time. But....God is God and the leader is NOT. I do
not look for freedom, but I am a pessimist, only because
I see communism all over the place. Dictatorship at its best.
God ? Being pushed down ? He only wishes he could wipe
our Lord God out of our vocabulary. His God is not the God
we as Christians worship and serve. If he reads Gods Word,
he would be shaking in his boots. You know the ones his
Muslim friends lick. God save America ~

Exactly, Rick - you hit the nail on the head. The taxes that were intentioned were duty type taxes, certainly not an income tax, or property taxes that are used to enslave. Note even the purpose for these duties/taxes "to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare". With the (unconstitutional?) income taxes paying the usury on an imaginary debt, how could they even dare to justify an ObamaCare tax as paying for "general welfare". Lol.
