I watched a boxing match Saturday on HBO, and, there was a guy named Alvarado who was really tough, held light welterweight title belt of wBO or WBF, a one-loss record against 34 wins and his one loss he avenged (beat the guy in a rematch) .
So, this Alvarado guy was tough. And , he went against a guy who was up and coming named Provikous, just lost a fight to Tim Bradly a month ago, and, had lost another fight too versus 22 wins. But, yeah, this Provikous, who suffered a big cut over eye from that Bradley fight, didn't give up after loss .This provikous, a Russian, from Siberia, guy was fighting a month after that brutal fight verse Bradley going 12 rounds , having lost the fight by decision. This Provikos after he beat Alvarado in a real war going 10 rounds before a TKO said afte the fight that the better fighter would not win, it would be the one who broke the others' will. And, to note, Alvarado had never been knocked out in any of his fights, I don't even think he'd gone down for the 10-count. But, he went down three times in this fight and only lost fight after he was sitting in his corner chair before the start of the 11th round. The referee had said, 'Can you go on?' And Alvarado did not answer, his left eye puffed up the size of a 1/4 full little water balloon. Ref called the fight then.
Anyway, I was just thinking....
That is what Satan does, he just keeps coming and coming at us, he knows we are tough in Christ but he just keeps coming and coming with more and more 'stuff,' Job's uprightness didn't stop Satan, did it? Au Contraire. He came at Job harder and harder and harder, first,took all his livestock, then, took Job's kids, who were, suddenly, killed in storm, then, Job's body with boils, then, Job's wife told him to 'curse God and die.' And, so Satan's attacks just get harder and harder to parry (say 'no' to?) and eventually he breaks our wills and we succumb to his temptations.
But, Job, who did not know Satan was attacking him, it was NOT God, as God just allowed Satan to destroy Job in so many ways. But, Job stayed faithful to God through it all, including over a week's worth of his own friends blaming and shaming him.
Sorry if this is too disturbing for some, I'm just saying what's on my mind and I want everyone to understand in this little world of singlesforumdom, which all are welcome, that Satan is horrible. He really WILL hammer on us in sooo many ways and we just need to fight things off and then realize that thru total faith and commitment not to CR-ACK, that God will give us MORE than we even had before. Job didn't get his kids back but he did have his livestock, not just double but I think Scripture says his cattle and such became threefold from what it was before Satan's attack.
