Yeshua teaches to obey the commandments, He also mentioned the two great laws of love. I paste the latter here below from the Word. Note these laws are in the midst of other laws, all full of good and wisdom. While you are reading, please note all those laws that are bad?? I do not see one. Of course these are telling us how to please the Father and not just ourselves. Hypocrisy is never a virtue.

Lev 19:13
Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

Lev 19:14
Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.

Lev 19:15
Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

Lev 19:16
Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.

Lev 19:17
Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.

Lev 19:18
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Deu 6:5
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Deu 6:6
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

Deu 6:7
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Yeshua taught to obey Yahweh by His own example. No one is legalistic by obeying the Father; that notion is from the enemy.

If people are afraid of the good commandments because of the law, they have nothing to fear providing they believe they are saved by the Blood of Yeshua, Jesus, for the sting of law, that is death, was crucified with Yeshua, and now, when we should sin, the law no longer has its sting. All anyone need do is follow the Example of Yeshua.

I tell you anyone who intentionally practices anything that Yeshua would not do in His life time in order to save us all is walking on His great and wonderful sacrifice. That person is blaspheming. Believe Yahweh, and if you love Him, obeying Him is a joy, especially knowing we are forgiven past and future transgressions for blessed is the man against whom Yahweh does not impute sin. Psalm 32.

Do not teach against obeying God. Too many with itching ears already have this type of religion, and I know our faith does not come without tribulation in this age. We need not fear that tribulation because our Lord, Yeshua, has overcome the world. We will suffer, if it is Yahweh's will, for His name's sake. Praise Yahweh, amen.
I love the verses!

How can we know what love is if we reject all of those "OT" scriptures? If love isn't defined by God in HIS written word then we're just doing what is right in our own eyes (Been there, done that.) Without the word, there's no template or mirror to examine ourselves by.

For the most part, that's really all that anyone is saying here. Study the whole bible! Don't leave anything out! God's word is too important for us to ignore even one jot or tittle.

"Matthew 11:6 and how blessed is anyone not offended by me!" (CJB)

Jesus has been speaking since the beginning.

Revelation 12:17, "And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went to make war with those who forsook her seed; her seed being those who keep the Laws of Yahweh, and have the testimony of Yahshua Messiah."

I see contention here...

Read Galatians.... this is a foolish debate that was dealt with directly in Scripture.

If the Law causes contention, it is because there are a few who are trying to place believers back under the yoke of the Law, and a few that don't love the Lord and despise His commands because they love themselves.
Both of these camps need to repent. I see that we have some from each side here.

Do not pretend you are saved if you are arguing for the sake of the Law, or for the sake of lawlessness!

Hi Crossnote,

May I ask how you come to your conclusion, because there are a few accusations here:

  • Following God's law is bypassing faith...
  • Following God's law is choosing one's own way...
  • One following God's Law is doing so in one's own strength...
  • One following God's law is not favored by grace (by implication)...
  • One not following God's law is favored by grace (by implication)...
  • One following God's law will eventually persecute one favored by grace...

If I've misstated your position please forgive me and correct me...but please share how you come to your conclusion.
0 for 6. I said 'following God's Law in one's strength'. The layout is ...
1. Faith in God's Promise.
2. Receiving of His Spirit/Regeneration/Co-crucifixion/Resurrection powr..
3. God's nature written on our hearts.
4. The Law continually shows us our continual need of faith in Christ.and His Promises.
Hope that helps.

Faith in works of law is lawlessness. Faith without works of faith is lawlessness. Lawfullness is faith working through love.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love. Galatians 5:6

What are the coomandments of God ?

[h=3]1 Corinthians 7[/h]King James Version (KJV)
18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

So Paul is clearly not talking about Old Testament law when he speaks of keeping the commandments of God. Good verses.

Sin existed before law.

Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee [shall be] his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

The law is what Jesus Christ says it is--idol worship is prohibited because our entire heart and mind is devoted to loving God.

Luke 10:25-28 ¶ And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

So Paul is clearly not talking about Old Testament law when he speaks of keeping the commandments of God. Good verses.
That's right. Because circumcision is a commandment of GOD, Paul can't be talking about the commandments of Moses if he said the only thing that matters is keeping the commandments of GOD. Therefore, he was referring to the commandments of Christ.

I like that way of saying it. You want law (that will never make you like GOD), or do want to be like GOD.
It also explains that since love is the fulfillment of the law it is shed abroad in our hearts as well as 'God is love'...our new nature is God fulfilling His Law of love in and thru us.

Peter and Paul both called Jesus God (θεός)

Titus 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, (NASB)

2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: (NASB)

The older readings from the KJV are incorrect.

One of Granville's letters written in 1778 (published in 1798), propounded what has come to be known as The Granville Sharp Rule (in actuality only the first of six principles involving the article that Sharp articulated):

“When the copulative kai connects two nouns of the same case, if the article ho, or any of its cases, precedes the first of the said nouns or participles, and is not repeated before the second noun or participle, the latter always relates to the same person that is expressed or described by the first noun or participle ...”
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
