Those who Jesus said he never knew come to him and say, "Look at all the good we did, don't we deserve heaven? They don't say, "We are yours, thank you for what you did for us."
I would also be comfortable with the interpretation that these verses are talking about Christians who won't be rewarded in heaven. Jesus says, "You didn't always do the will of the Father, I didn't know you intimately, you weren't seeking me, you were glorifying yourselves, you were lawbreakers." The quote is from Psalm 6, "Depart from me, all evildoers," a Psalm about coming to God out of contriteness and asking for mercy, not out of pride and asking for reward.
So it doesn't doubt the genuineness of who you are (wheat or weeds) it just rewards what you are.
