As long as you let Him, I guess. I think there are times when he cradles us in His arms, and after a short time, like a father, He will put us down to walk for ourselves. I believe I'm not always in a fuzzy, warm spot with God because He wants me to seek Him and to go to that secret place where all my attention and affections can be on Him. The Lord wants for us to be the kind of people that seek Him out daily, for all things whether great or small.
He wants us to draw close to Him so He can draw close to us. The Lord is a gentleman, He knocks, but it is up to us to open that door. There is nothing more Jesus wants for us than to be more like Him. They say you become more like the one you worship, so I guess as Christians we need to be in a position of constant communication and relationship with Him, to allow that transformation to take place. If we want Him to fill the aches of loneliness, then we need to be in a place of complete surrender, we need to be in a place in our mind and hearts where we know our God is a God that listens, a Father that will pick you up when you lift your arms up to Him, a Husband that will hold you tight, a Friend that will listen to anything and all things.
Run to Him and He'll be there.
(I totally just ministered to myself just then)
