I had an interesting conversaton with a lady recently about how she wanted to put an ad in the paper letting men know she is avaliable. I adviced her against it, but of course left that up to her. Thankfully she decided against it. But it got me thinking that would be a fun thread. If you put an ad in the paper showing you are avaliable what would it say?
Mine:
Single, Christian lady, age 53, 5' 1", greenish blue eyes with a sweet sparkle, medium length, curly burnette hair with a hint of red. I open up slowly.... thus it makes me a sweet mystery to discover. First of all, love the Lord Jesus with all my heart. Not perfect which makes life more joyful and interesting, and would understand the same about you:D. I have a daughter 35 and son 17, son-in-law and two grandbabies (girl 9/boy 11) desire a man that would love them as his own, and would teach them to love and respect you. I'm strong-willed, have to have a strong, godly man who loves the challenge.... who is himself, who will stand up for what is right, even at the risk of offending me for a brief period of time and then I would respond with a well of love and respect for him being stong and not backing down. I'm a good Kentucky cook. Most the time keep a nice tidy home. I love a handyman, but would appreicate just as much if you paid for things to get fixed (after marriage of course). Desire a long courtship, taking the 12 steps that make a strong bonding relationship. Don't care much for over or under talkers. I'm a medium talker as well. To me words don't mean no where near as much as actions. If you love Jesus with all your heart i won't beable to keep from loving you, because I love him as my best friend. If this describes you and what I described about me is what you are looking for please e-mail me at ----------, and I will get back to you as soon as possible, and also I have a big, giving heart if you show me love I won't beable to keep from loving you right back. Take care. May the best man win <3. Sincerely, Rose

If you can: cook, clean, be caring and loving, and occasionally deal with my ignorance I am the man for you. I am not saying the woman is solely responsible for the listed things in the previous sentence, but there is no way I would want to be with a woman that relies on restaurants/microwave for dinner. I will not change for you or any other woman in this world so get over yourself. I am who I am and expect you to respect that. I will do the same in return. If you are looking for a fairy tale romance you are in a dream world. There is no such thing, quit watching Hallmark. If you are still reading this then obviously I haven't made you run yet. If you are interested in a 31y.o. bearded man beast, contact me.

******note to CCers. I AM NOT SINGLE! This is a make believe ad with the things listed that I would say. Don't get any ideas. I am not interested. Thanks.******

I'll play.

I'm Rational, Resourceful, Tall, Poor, Intelligent, Educated, Unambitious, Impulsive and Opinionated Human Male. I'm 28 years old, I have hair that is approximately the color of Old Pennies. I have eyes that combine green and brown to form a sort of Moss on a Log color combination.

I have an extensive history of galavanting off on obscure adventures in search of Love, Exploration and Experience.

I have strong well thought out opinions on matters of faith, culture, and love. My Relationship with Christ is in and of itself a non-negotiable position in my life. However its practical application is something that varies greatly. In matters of culture, I value a rational motivation based reasoning behind social customs. I spent the better part of 2 years studying Love, conducting experiments and research into what makes it the virtue of virtues.

My life Goals are to Love my favorite person in the world for the rest of my life, to be financially free, and to leave a mark worthy of being called a Christian.

I'm looking for a woman who is Content, Intelligent, Laid back, Deep, Tall, Creative, Expressive, Extroverted, Adventurous, Forgiving, Clever, Curious, Optimistic, Playful, Patient, Athletic, Funny, Gracious, Impractical, Loyal, Reasonable and Trustworthy.

Things I'm not looking for: Pessimistic, Bitter, Manipulative, Angry, Violent, Vane, Schmarmy, Shallow, Ignorant, Prissy, Conceited, Judgmental, Impatient, Neurotic, Moody, Trendy, Inexpressive, Self Loathing, Gloomy, Closed Off, Materialistic, Unreasonable, Dogmatic, Prejudiced, Passive, Stoic or Pragmatic.

Of course, this is all just a fake want ad, cause I only date locally now. And I would never actually do this ;)

In my case that's good because I think I'm pretty dull and un-interesting. But then maybe it doesn't apply to me. :(

Yes, but do they think too high, or too low of themselves? And some people are more accurate and honest than others. Also it can come down to personal interpretation. I have low self esteem... and some people would look at me and think i have good reason, others tell me i am not seeing myself right and i'm better than what i see. So its subjective, not only to the writer, but the viewer.

All these seem like reasonable things to NOT want in a significant other, but I'm wondering why you put "pragmatic." I always thought that was a good trait, like the opposite of materialistic and unreasonable.

Oh let's see... my eHarmony account is still up. Here's what it says:

I'm passionate about the Gospel. Living it, sharing it, belonging to a community of believers. These things are important to me. I also love children, reading, laughing, and the ocean.

You will win me over by initiating lively conversation, deep questions and light-hearted interaction.
You will touch me by being interested in who I am.
You will charm me by being a bit quirky and fun-loving.
You will captivate me by telling me that you have a collection of sci-fi and fantasy books on your nightstand.
You'll earn my respect with your spiritual leadership qualities.

(There's more, but that's about it as far as anything interesting.) :p

Must enjoy sitting for long periods of time, while surfing the Internet, watching TV news, and other things.

Must be fine with quirky, interesting, but not necessarily flying by the seat of your pants excitement.

When not sitting for long periods of time while surfing the Internet and watching TV, you must enjoy road trips, dollar stores, getting tacky souvenirs at gas station gift shops or tourist trap gift stops. Appreciation of tacky nic-nacs is a plus.

Should be ok with at least baseball, football, and momentary emotional mood swings where a brief interest in NASCAR racing is shown.

Must also be ok with going to movies once in a while, dining out at non-fancy places aka places you can get in without a tie, slacks, and dress shoes. If you consider Culvers high class fast food, and Applebees as fancy eatin out, we'll be fine.

Must be able to accept that I have boring interests like politics, eschatology, and various theological swings with different Christian movements in order to learn what they're all about.

I reserve the right to add to this as more comes across the canvas of my mind.

Forgiven. I thought afterward, "Maybe she was just talking in-general". So, sorry if I misinterrupted. When you are trying to make a sale you always want to put your good points. definitely don't consider myself perfect. Wish I were. Life would be so much easier, lol. Take care.
