Now in between Thyatira/Roman Catholicism and Philadephia/The Great Missionary Movement comes SARDIS
SARDIS means COME OUT

This is the church that CAME OUT of Roman Catholicism during the reformation but didnt progress to the point where it became the Missionary Church; In fact, Reformed, Covenant Theology DISCOURAGES evangelism; so they have a reputation for being alive but have no spiritual vitality.

The Dead Church

I think there is so much we can learn for those first few chapters about Revelation using them as a self-evaluation tool. This is the exact kind of meditating on the Scriptures I like to do reasoning from them to take to our selves to make us be what He wants. That was kind of my point in starting this thread to consoder those congregations/eras standing with Yahshua and them look at ourselves!

great post, to me this is exact or pretty near to exactly the formula to avoid being one, "that you have a Name that you are alive but are dead".

this day by day refusing to let worldly desires creep in but just seeking to do the will of Yahweh. Beautiful! I think no matter how mature or not mature we are in our walk we all need a reminder to do this daily! What higher calling could one possibly have than doing the will of the Creator of all that is? It is a firely trial, but none the less we need to hold fast to Yahweh and endure until the end.

be accepted? And if you do not do righteousness, osin is crouching at your door. The desire to sin is with you, but you must overcome it!"

"BOOM" It is the Motive behind what we do all do that will be the judge of it all, and I know many of my past works will burn up, in fact all of my works, the only works that will never burn up are God's. so I think to seek put God doing the works over me getting in the way, as 1 Cor. 3 talks about,

So it has been a long time sine I pondered this passage, it really made me think and I think it is a very powerful verse. I want to post it so people can read it and ponder it also. I would like if those here would share their thoughts on this. The meaning of the verse and how one could fall under this same principle and also how to avoid it. Also for us to evaluate ourselves in this matter.

Revelation 3:1-3, "...I know your works, that you have a Name that you are alive, but you are dead. Lesson our judgement of others. We never see the whole picture. Never.
there are 1,000 reasons a person can behave a particular way. We don't know what is going on in their movie that motivates them to act in that way. I never know how I'd behave if I were in the other shoes. Today little by little, it would be good to learn to be more forgiving. Learn to where we can come from a place of help, rather than Judgement.

Judgements are only based on what one sees, from their owns thoughts. From their own experiences. There is truly only one that knows all. that one would be and is the creator of all.
If one learns to listen to the creator as Jesus Christ revealed to all mankind. (Christ taught us, to do nothing or say nothing w/o Father's instruction first and foremost), we would make the right judgements, with out condemnation. ( coming from the one listening),much less likely
The ones that argued would reveal their true selves, as was done in the day of visitation from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Steer clear from arguements, seek the truth in all things and one shall be free from the world and it's traps.
