The amillenialists have to spiritualize Rev. 20 In order to explain away what it clearly teaches.

Rev. 20 teaches a 1,000 year literal reign of the Lord Jesus Christ on the earth. But again, since the ammillenialists reject this Biblical truth of a Millennial Reign on Earth, Rev. 20 is another text which the ammillenialists spiritualize since they cannot handle Bible Doctrine.

Now let us look at some of the Scriptures which teach that there will be animal sacrifices during the Millennial Kingdom:

obvious Biblical conclusion which exhalts and does not humiliate Jesus Christ:

Ye also, as lively stones,
are built up a spiritual house,

to offer up spiritual sacrifices,
acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

WHY LITERAL SACRIFICES IN THE MILLENNIUM?
Thomas Ice

A common objection to the consistent literal interpretation of Bible prophecy is found in Ezekiel’s temple vision (Ezekiel 40-48). Opponents argue that if this is a literal, future temple, then it will require a return to the sacrificial system that Christ made obsolete since the prophet speaks of “atonement” (kiper) in Ezekiel. 43:13, 27; 45:15, 17, 20. This is true! Critics believe this to be a blasphemous contradiction to the finished work of Christ as presented in Hebrews 10.

Hank Hanegraaff says that I have “exacerbated the problem by stating that without animal sacrifices in the millennium, Yahweh’s holiness would be defiled. That, for obvious reasons, is blasphemous.” He further says that such a view constitutes a return “to Old Covenant sacrifices.”1

“Is it heretical to believe that a temple and sacrifices will once again exist,” ask John Schmitt and Carl Laney? “Ezekiel himself believed it was a reality and the future home of Messiah. Then, it becomes not heresy to believe that a temple and sacrifices will exist; rather, it is almost a heresy to not believe this, especially because it is a part of God’s infallible word. The burden on us is to determine how it fits — not its reality.”2 At least four other prophets join Ezekiel in affirming a sacrificial system in a millennial temple (Isaiah 56:7; 66:20-23; Jeremiah 33:18; Zechariah 14:16-21; Malachi 3:3-4), which supports a literal and thus futurist understanding of Ezekiel.

"Then, it becomes not heresy to believe that a temple and sacrifices will exist; rather, it is almost a heresy to not believe this, especially because it is a part of God’s infallible word."

NEW COVENANT SACRIFICES
Thomas Ice

We do not believe that reinstituting sacrifices in a future dispensation will be a return to the Mosaic system of the Old Covenant. The Mosaic Law has forever been fulfilled and discontinued through Christ (Romans 6:14-15; 7:1-6; 1 Corinthians 9:20-21; 2 Corinthians 3:7-11; Galatians 4:1-7; 5:18; Ephesians 2-3; Hebrews 7:12; 8:6-7, 13; 10:1-14).

The millennium will be a time in which Israel’s New Covenant will become the ruling jurisdiction (Deuteronomy 29:4; 30:6; Isaiah 59:20-21; 61:8-9; Jeremiah 31:31-40; 32:37-40; 50:4-5; Ezekiel 11:19-20; 16:60-63; 34:25-26; 36:24-32; 37:21-28; Zechariah 9:11; 12:10-14).

The new millennial law will contain a mixture of Mosaic-type laws with totally new non-Mosaic laws not found in the 613, under the jurisdiction of the New Covenant. Jesus the Messiah will be physically present instead of the Shechinah glory presence in conjunction with the ark of the covenant;

WHY A TEMPLE AND SACRIFICES?
Thomas Ice

The purpose for a temple throughout Scripture has been to establish a location upon earth—which is under the curse of sin—for the presence of God that reveals through its ritual God’s great holiness. God’s plan for Israel includes a relation to them through a temple since He wants to dwell in the midst of His people. Currently the Church is God’s spiritual temple made of living stones (1 Corinthians 3:16-17; Ephesians 2:19-22). The millennium will return history to a time when Israel will be God’s mediatory people but will also continue to be a time in which sin will be present upon the earth.

.....

Thus, God will include a new temple, a new priesthood, a new law, etc., at this future time because He will be present in Israel and still desires to teach that holiness is required to approach Him. This is contrasted with the fact that no temple will exist in eternity (Revelation 21:22) because God and the Lamb are the temple since there will be no sin in heaven, thus no need for ritual cleansing.

.....

WHY A TEMPLE AND SACRIFICES?
Thomas Ice

So what do both past and future sacrifices accomplish if they don’t actually remove sin? These sacrifices provide ritual cleansing of the priests, sanctuary, and utensils. Only Christ’s sacrifice on the cross actually removes one’s sin. Jerry Hullinger provides a solution that:

...deals honestly with the text of Ezekiel, and in no way demeans the work Christ did on the cross. This study suggests that animal sacrifices during the millennium will serve primarily to remove ceremonial uncleanness and prevent defilement from polluting the temple envisioned by Ezekiel. This will be necessary because the glorious presence of Yahweh will once again be dwelling on earth in the midst of a sinful and unclean people.

.....

It should further be added that this sacrificial system will be a temporary one in that the millennium (with its partial population of unglorified humanity) will last only one thousand years.

....

Critics of future millennial sacrifices seem to assume that all sacrifices, past and future, always depict Christ’s final sacrifice for sin. They do not! There were various purposes for sacrifice in the Bible. Many of the sacrifices under the Mosaic system were purification rituals.

This is why atonement can be said in the past to be effective, yet still need Christ’s future sacrifice, because many of the sacrifices did atone ceremonially, cleansing participants and objects in temple ritual. In Ezekiel 43:20 and 26, the atonement is specifically directed at cleansing the altar in order to make it ritually clean. The other uses of atonement also refer to cleansing objects so that ritual purity may be maintained for proper worship (Ezekiel 45:15, 17, 20).

.....

The presence and purpose of millennial sacrifices neither diminish the finished work of Christ, nor violates the literal interpretation of these prophetic passages.

Isaiah 8:14
He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

Luke 2
34And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed-- 35and a sword will pierce even your own soul-- to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed."

Isaiah 53
But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. By oppression and judgment He was taken away.

Isaiah 53:10
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

Zechariah 13:1
"On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.

probably nothing but filthy rags...but one thing i do know - He is King and Lord NOW.

He suffered bitterly once already. you be ashamed of that if you want to. i refuse.

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

2 Timothy 1
8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God, 9who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, 10but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"

We as lively stones will be offering up spiritual sacrifices during the millennium. Spiritual sacrifices are not some "pie in the sky" spiritual mumbo jumbo, it is exactly what it says... spiritual or heavenly realm sacrifices. What does that mean? Every thing we see on this earth is a shadow of what's in heaven. The heavenly realm counterpart of an earthly serpent is the devil. I don't yet know what the spiritual equivalent of bullocks and goats are, but that is what we will be sacrificing during the millennium. I know that sounds weird, but that's exactly what 1 Peter 2:5 is talking about.

Zone, what spiritual sacrifice do you offer up right now that is acceptable to God by Jesus Christ?

KJV1611,

you said you don't yet know what the "spiritual equivalent" of bullocks and goats are....you think EZEKIEL is about YOU.

btw:

what are you doing on a Christian forum?
do you belong to a church?
do you say you are saved?
do you claim to know The Lord?
do you preach Christ crucified for the salvation of men's souls?
do you pray?
do you give thanks and praise?

or are you living in a MYSTERY GAP CHURCH AGE VACUUM OF NOTHINGNESS?
a parenthesis?
an afterthought?

huh? who are you?
do you have a King?
who is your king?
do you have a Lord?
who is your lord?

.....

because apparently this does not apply to you:

Ephesians 2
By Grace Through Faith
1And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the bodya and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4Butb God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

One in Christ
11Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. 18For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,c but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God byd the Spirit.

....

2 Corinthians 6
1Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2For he says,

“In a favorable time I listened to you,
and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”

Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation

The Temple of the Living God
14Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15What accord has Christ with Belial?b Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,

“I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
17 Therefore go out from their midst,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing;
then I will welcome you,
18 and I will be a father to you,
and you shall be sons and daughters to me,
says the Lord Almighty.”

you don't know anything about what Peter said.
that's why you don't know this says:

Hebrews 13
Sacrifices Pleasing to God

1Let brotherly love continue. 2Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. 4Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. 5Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6So we can confidently say,

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?”

7Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. 8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them. 10We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat. 11For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp. 12So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. 13Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. 14For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. 15Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. 16Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

17Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

18Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. 19I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.

Benediction
20Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in usa that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Zone chill out man. Why don't you just admit it? There is nothing wrong with saying you don't know what spiritual sacrifices are.

What are we to do with Zech 14? Does it not speak of sacrifice while Christ is seated on the throne of David in Jerusalem upon His return to rule on the earth? This is a future event unless history has failed to record an earlier event for us to consider.

Are filthy rags acceptable to God? No they are not.

do you want A LIST of my EXCELLENT AWESOME FANTASTIC HOLY works?
do you want A LIST of my EXCELLENT AWESOME FANTASTIC HOLY prayers?

at least one thing i DO know - JESUS CHRIST IS LORD....RIGHT NOW.
not half way, not just for gentiles.

right now. and forever.

now why don't you tell me all about your EXCELLENT AWESOME FANTASTIC HOLY works and prayers and thanksgiving.
all the ones acceptable to God according to scripture.

do you have any?

or are you waiting for a future 1,000 years to do what the Lord has commanded?
are you waiting to praise Him?

walking in agreement with ANYONE who even suggests there will be a future Temple and GOD HELP THEM - animal sacrifices is most assuredly filthy rags.

I agree and do know that Jesus is King and Lord right now, but him being king now has nothing to with you and I making spiritual sacrifices... I'm not sure why you even brought that up.

yes i know you're not sure why.

i'm real sorry that's confusing for you.

but that's what happens when Jesus Christ is expected to Humiliate Himself again on this earth...because he came to do God`s Will - but didnt quite accomplish it.

...

why don't you read your Bible?
isn't the Holy Spirit in you?

why do you have this as your signature if you don't believe it?

Hebrews 10
Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All
1For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? 3But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

5Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said,

“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
but a body have you prepared for me;
6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings
you have taken no pleasure.
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,
as it is written of me in the scroll of the book
.’”

And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

but you have 1,000 after He comes where this is NOT TRUE.

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?”

Amen.

...

1 Chronicles 16:34
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Psalm 106
1Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting. 2Who can speak of the mighty deeds of the LORD, Or can show forth all His praise?

do you want A LIST of my EXCELLENT AWESOME FANTASTIC HOLY works?
do you want A LIST of my EXCELLENT AWESOME FANTASTIC HOLY prayers?

at least one thing i DO know - JESUS CHRIST IS LORD....RIGHT NOW.
not half way, not just for gentiles.

right now. and forever.

now why don't you tell me all about your EXCELLENT AWESOME FANTASTIC HOLY works and prayers and thanksgiving.
all the ones acceptable to God according to scripture.

do you have any?

or are you waiting for a future 1,000 years to do what the Lord has commanded?
are you waiting to praise Him?

walking in agreement with ANYONE who even suggests there will be a future Temple and GOD HELP THEM - animal sacrifices is most assuredly filthy rags.

yes i know you're not sure why.
because dispensationalism is a theological PRISON.

i'm real sorry that's confusing for you.

but that's what happens when Jesus Christ is expected to Humiliate Himself again on this earth...because he came to do God`s Will - but didnt quite accomplish it.

...

why don't you read your Bible?
isn't the Holy Spirit in you?

why do you have this as your signature if you don't believe it?

“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
but a body have you prepared for me;
6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings
you have taken no pleasure.

I never said I had any spiritual sacrifices to offer to God... but you said that you do. And no I don't need a list of all of them, just give me one example of your spiritual sacrifices?

EG - i read your entire post.
t.y.

so 490 years isn't 490 years....it's an unknown period of time.

Nope it is 490 years. The 483 has been completed. The 7 will also. As Jesus said, :now it has been hidden from you" He even acknowledged their would be a break in time. Then again, Daniel 9 shows us the break. we just have to open up to see it.

ha? servant but not messiah? what on earth does that mean?:)

Try this

According to OT prophesy, concerning the messiah, we are told:

1. He will be human, born as a child
2. He will be a ruler (government will be on his shoulders)
3. He will be God himself (He will be called mighty God)
4. His kingdom will be eternal, it will never end.
5. He will NEVER DIE
6. He will come from Judah, and rule isreal, and his kingdom will be worldwide in scope. and his kingdom will come from the strength of God himself. it can not be defeated.
7. Those who rebelled againsed him, and survived the final battle will come and worship him. No one will look down on him, but look up to him. and serve him and him only.
8. He will be served, not be a servant.
9. We are given his name: Messiah, or as we know it Christ.

According to OT prophesy concerning the servant, we are told:

1. He will be human.
2. He will have no kingdom, no one will look up to him, they will look down on him.
3. He is not said to be God (although he is not said not to be God)
4. He takes our punsihment for our sin.
5. He dies a horrible death
6. He will rise from the dead
7. His death will justify many.
8. He is given no name. so we do not know who he will be.

so from these two things Your honestly going to tell me people alive at his first advent would understand them to the the same person? There would be no way to. Thats why even his disciples could not understand he was going or had to die up until his death, Because they understood completely the messiah would never die.

this just depresses me...really.
jews use this argument to say Jesus wasn't the Messiah.
Yep. Because they closed their minds, And never saw that he had to be both the servant, and messiah. All because they do not think they need saved, so the suffering servant is just some dude who they really do not need anyway.

are you really sure you want deny that Jesus is (and was) the Christ?:

lol.. He was the christ. The christ had two functions. First to suffer for mans sins, then to be Gods ruler. He fulfilled the first part already, He is coming again to fulfill the second part.

Zone chill out man. Why don't you just admit it? There is nothing wrong with saying you don't know what spiritual sacrifices are.

KJV1611 chill out man. Why don't you just admit it? There is nothing wrong with saying you don't know what spiritual sacrifices are.

are you going to address what the scriptures say:confused:

or not.

Re: Amillennial theology is in error - (no literal thousand year reign)

1 Peter 1:7
These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

2 Corinthians 4:18
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

but oh no....we are really supposed to fix our eyes on earthly Jerusalem, so everybody can be saved by what they SEE, not by FAITH.

BUT WAIT......WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GO BACK TO THE THE CAMP - THE TEMPLE...RIGHT:confused:

...

how about this one:

Matthew 25
The Final Judgment
31“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,f you did it to me.’

41“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

2 Peter 3
The Day of the Lord Will Come
1This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, 3knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,a not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodiesb will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.c

11Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

John 4

who should i believe?

Scofield or Jesus?

if there is a future "literal thousand year reign" (per - OP) this should read something more like this:

OPTION 1 - MILLENNIUM
19The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”

21 ____ said to her, “Woman, believe me, the CHURCH AGE PARENTHESIS is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father because in less than 40 years JERUSALEM will be destroyed.

22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. So thousands of years from now the Jews will build another Temple in Jerusalem, and after the Antichrist commits the Abomination of Desolation, I will return and Rule from Jerusalem in that Temple.

And people will sacrifice animals in the temple as a memorial for how good I was to die on the Cross...that'll be fine.

23 But anyways.....the hour is coming, and is now here, when the MYSTERY CHURCH will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” 26 _____ said to her, “I who speak to you am he, but I'm not going to be able to accomplish what I came to do because the Jews won't let Me be their Messiah (Savior), so there will be a secret MYSTERY GRACE CHURCH that no one knows about yet.”

OR

OPTION 21 - MILLENNIUM
19The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”

21 ____ said to her, “Woman, believe me, the CHURCH AGE is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father because in less than 40 years JERUSALEM will be destroyed.

22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. So thousands of years from now the Jews will build another Temple in Jerusalem, and after the Antichrist commits the Abomination of Desolation, I will return and Rule from NEW JERUSALEM which will hover over this current Jerusalem, so technically you won't be worshipping The Father from earthly Jerusalem...even though people will come to earthly Jerusalem in Judea, The Father will still consider that worshipping Him in spirit and truth.

Everyone will be able to see New Jerusalem hovering over Old Jerusalem for 1,000 years. But I can't tell you about that because that's a MYSTERY. No one knows if i'll be on earth or in New Jerusalem, but it'll work out somehow.

25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” 26 _____ said to her, “Well, he won't tell you everything because the MYSTERY CHURCH AGE IS A MYSTERY. He won't act like He came to rule from Jerusalem and overthrow the Romans, even though that's really what he came to do, but the Jews were blinded, BECAUSE The Father needed THAT TIME (thousands of years) to call the Gentiles because He can't do two things at once.

But one day far far into the future, the one you look for will rule this sinful earth IN PERSON from Jerusalem, since that really is the place where people ought to worship."

help me straighten out the narrative here, please.
which is it?

What are we to do with Zech 14? Does it not speak of sacrifice while Christ is seated on the throne of David in Jerusalem upon His return to rule on the earth? This is a future event unless history has failed to record an earlier event for us to consider.

For the cause of Christ
Roger

are we seriously...actually going to throw out all the clearest passages in the bible and cling to one or two of the most unclear and difficult?

there's just a really simple principle at work here.
the OT prophets saw from afar.
they saw visions of Christ and His Church (Israel of God; jew & gentile) and eternity.
i don't know why this is so hard.
this dispensational theology is like a straightjacket.

i just don't know what more can be said.

okay....so we as literalists, generally like to assume everything in the bible is chronological.
that's how we read it.

so let's see if we can read Zechariah from 12 on (we'll say)....and see if it jumps around from Zechariah's day to Christ's day to a future 1,000 year time with a Temple and whatnot.

the things God is saying through Zechariah (And I will) were IN ZECHARIAH'S FUTURE...not OURS today.

Zechariah 12
10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

John 19
33But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

okay stop. did John clearly and without question say that Zechariah 12 was fulfilled?
yes. he did.

and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem - this tells us when this was - when they were In Jerusalem.
Acts 2 is Pentecost. the spirit was poured out at Pentecost.
Peter gave his sermon - and 3000 repented and were saved that day.

right?

Zechariah 12
10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Luke 23
27And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

Zechariah 13
1In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
2And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

here we are....next chapter.
still talking about the YET TO COME One they would look upon - whom they have pierced.
a fountain would be opened FOR ISRAEL and Jerusalem in that day.
what does that mean?

well, it's clearly OT prophecy, about the One they would look upon - whom they have pierced.
right?

But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

at Pentecost Jesus poured out the Spirit.

Zechariah 14
8And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

okay....hang on.

"it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem"

Jesus very clearly told the Samaritan woman that Jerusalem was soon NOT to be the place where the Father was worshipped.
this either means that we are still PRE-INCARNATION in Zechariah's day looking forward....OR: we are jumping forward thousands of years to earthly Jerusalem AGAIN.

Paul said NO.
Jesus said NO.

so, we are still looking forward (from zechariah's viewpoint - backwards for us) to the Coming of Jesus the first time.

LIVING WATERS going forth from Jerusalem:

John 4
10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

John 4
14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 7
37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

OKAY....John tells us what the living waters (from Zechariah 14 are): "this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive"

Zechariah 12
10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications

BUT - what did John say: "which they that believe on him should receive""

what was the condition? BELIEVING ON HIM.

Titus 3
4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

here's Paul talking about the spirit of grace: "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us"

Hebrews 10
19Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21And having an high priest over the house of God;
22Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

well...was Zechariah an OT prophet?

Luke 24
25Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Zechariah 14
8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

what's this about the Living Waters (which we now know about) - half of the Living Waters going OUT FROM Jerusalem

"toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be."

this is about The Living Waters - flowing constantly from east to west, in season and out of season. out of Jerusalem - which is precisely where the Holy Spirit was poured out at Jerusalem.

Luke 24
46and He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48"You are witnesses of these things.

"You are witnesses of these things." - who was? the disciples/apostles.

Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Zechariah 13
7"Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones."

Matthew 26
31Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

okay Zechariah being shown to be fulfilled....we're at chapter 13.

so what about Zechariah 14 plus or alongside Ezekiel?:

Ezekiel 47
1Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.

there's that vision of Christ (The Temple; The Fountain; etc) and the Church again.
and the waters going forth.

Ezekiel 47
2Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

3And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.

4Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand:), and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.

5Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.

that's a LOT of water....living water.
how is he expressing endless streams of living water? (a thousand, a thousand, a thousand)

Ezekiel 47
6And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.
7Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.
8Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.

9And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.

what about the places wither the river does not cometh?

Ezekiel 47
10And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.

11But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.

oh.....there are places that the living waters will not produce life and healing.
they are given to salt.

SO - are we still wanting to project all of this to a future Millennium?
where Jesus will be seated in earthly Jerusalem (which He said was NOT PLANNED), and literal flowing waters are so deep ppl have to swim them?

.....

but ezekiel is seeing fishermen.
and fishes - each according to its kind.

Matthew 13
47"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea, and gathering fish of every kind; 48and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away.

Mark 1
16Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
18And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

John 21
1After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.
2There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
4But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
6And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

.....

Zechariah 12
10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications

Acts 2
1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

LIVING WATERS poured out on the Gentiles:

Acts 10
44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

.....

SO FROM WHERE DID THE LIVING WATERS ACTUALLY COME FROM (and went to to the world through the preaching of the Gospel...via the fishermen)?

FROM HEAVEN....from The Father.

Luke 24:49
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

John 7:39
By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

John 14:16
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever--

John 14:26
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 15:26
"When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father--the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father--he will testify about me.

Acts 2:33
Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

Acts 10:41
He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen--by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

WHAT ABOUT THIS RETURN TO JERUSALEM JESUS TOLD THE SAMARITAN WOMAN WAS COMING TO AN END?
Paul is preaching that there is a CRITICAL change to take heed of:

Galatians 4
Hagar and Sarah

21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. 29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

.....

he has JUST SAID that Jerusalem that then was (the Covenant from Sinai with it) were about to be CAST OUT.

But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

New Jerusalem is the mother of us all (born after the Spirit - the Living Waters poured out from Heaven)?

John 3
1Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2This man came to Jesusa by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born againb he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.c 7Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘Youd must be born again.’ 8The winde blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
