honestly...i don't know about " possessed " but it is possible to fall into a trap that is why when we fall we gotta ask God to cleanse us again, i'm speaking from experience also, because you do realize it is our will power to choose to do that wrong over the right thing, i got frustrated recently because i can't find a job so i needed some money.. so i started gambling and well the spirit of bondage had me i couldn't help myself i just kept running back to the arcade, i don't know if to call this demon possessed or what but spirits can still come on to us when we do wrong i had to ask God to cleanse me from this spirit of bondage and he did i felt the weight come off my chest and i had a free mind again
Josh you were not possessed, you sinned and it was your choice to keep going back, the devil did not make you do it, neither did a demon, you made the choice to sin.
-BUT-
You realized through conviction that you were sinning and you asked for forgiveness and the bondage was removed. That is Bible 101. Had you not responded to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, you would have placed yourself in death.
temptation is not sin, sin is a choice not a lifestyle or some demon making you do it. That is the biggest lie of all:
THE DEVIL OR HIS DEMONS MADE ME DO IT!
Nope, sorry you make the choice to sin, based on a temptation that is manifested to you. If you submit to God, resist the devil, he will flee.
[See James 1.12-18 & James 4.7]
The Bible says in 2 Peter 1.4 that by exceeding great and precious promises of God, we might be partakers of the divine nature. Romans 8.29 tells us we are to be conformed into the image of his son.
Jesus was in all points tempted yet without sin. We miss that, because we continually put Jesus on the pedestal of perfection. Make no mistake Jesus was perfect and we will never be perfect, but I believe we can renew our minds that we can be all points tempted, yet without sin. [See Heb 4.15] There are sins in my past that no longer tempt me and I do not commit them.
While we are on the subject, there is no such thing as unintentional sin, that is a lie from hell, to keep people paying alms and the church for atonement. These statements will no doubt ruffle many feathers and beliefs, but the word is clear about the sin cycle and it is found in James 1.12-18.
Read 2 Peter 1.1-11, Romans 8 and 2 Cor 5 and you will see that those passages alone completely refute what danschance and 2thewaters are preaching.
