Faith, hope, and, love are all great, but the greatest of these three is Love, so , if you feel someone is saying something upsetting to you, that attacks you, then, first, speak to that person in Love, as Jesus would do, right, we want to do what Jesus would do :) Then, if that don't work, turn the other cheek.

We all need to work on this, I know I do, it's not easy always being mr nice guy, but, it's good we do be nice, the Lord loves that and will bless us for turning the other cheek and just generally letting things slide that normally would get us into an angry mood.

And, do you know Ephesians 4 says that we should not go to bed with anger in us, for that allows The Devil to get a foothold on us. :(

So, that all said, it's a good work toward relationship building and understanding too when we can choose 'nice.'

OK, TeeGee, brother :)

My goal every morning is to learn at least one thing about God's word.. To assist at least one person smile, at least one laugh, and assit at least one person in feeling cared about... Who knows if I succeed but I try it's my effort for service.

All this stems from Christ's teaching on loving everyone as we do ourselves.
So much love so little time...

GreenieNicie... Great illustration of loving always

And guess what, you already know it!
smile Jesus loves you

I live you too,

Oh, yeah... Speak to that person in love...right...how could I forget that?
Ephesians 4, eh? Thanks for the heads up.

*Checks Ephesians 4* Umm.. it doesn't say that we have to go to bed clean of anger. It states that we have to grow up in love, which of course, means we have to grow up clean of anger. Thanks anyway!

:) I made a seriously wild guess, correlation is high but correlation does not imply causation so.... I no idea really.
What is wrong with me? I read 'causation' as 'castration' and thought, that's a bit drastic! Dyslexia strikes again.

The question that comes to my mind is "what is the definition of nice"? What is a "nice guy." The world perception of what is good and what is bad is completely distorted. God is that moral measuring stick.

To me the definition of a "nice guy" is a Godly man. I want a Godly man...a man that seeks after Gods face. A man that will lead his family to God. A man of moral integrity and a Godly character. You know the truth is I'm looking for Jesus...every women is and that's because God designed marriage to be a reflection of Christ's love to the church. That why Gods word says "husband love your wives as Christ loved the church" and for the wives to submit themselves unto their husband as unto God.

So the question is to you men are you reflecting the love of God? Us women are attracted to Gods love that's the truth, we need love. God's word even reveals that and when you love us we will love you..."we love God because He first loved us."

I believe that God has chosen a spouse for us, don't go looking for your spouse without God because marriage is designed to be a reflection of Christs love to the church so how can you do that apart from God. Make God a part of that area in your life...

Are nice guys (Godly guys) being rejected by society? They'll get mocked, all followers of Christ are mocked because the world rejects us, we're not of this world but you know what Gods word says "Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them."

Jesus is kind, compassionate and forgiving plus many other good Godly qualities. I guess these are all the opposite of being nice? There it had to be said...

I'm sorry, but it doesn't work. Did you even consider what I said to him?

Please, this is not a denunciation of what Liamson is saying; he may have some good points, but, from what I can tell, his contrast isn't very good. Nice guys are gentlemen; the antithesis of the nice guy, the so called 'bad boy' (which I do not refer to, because we are speaking in a Christian sphere of thinking, and there are no Christian bad boys except backsliders) are by definition not gentlemen at all, neither are they interested in being gentlemen.

Plus, as I told Liamson, much of his verbiage in his comment is rather opaque; let's just say, he needs to clean up his shirt, because they have too many purple stains. I'll leave it at that. To be quite honest, I feel that his answer is fallacious.

But oh well.
I'll elaborate a little.....the distinction he made was basically that the "nice guy" archetype we're talking about here generally just tries to befriend a girl, swoop in under the radar, and try to turn it into something later.....all done covertly while disguising intentions of course.....hoping that someday he'll manage to turn it into something. Although the guy might be helpful, pleasant, and willing to listen for hours to the girls problems and issues she wants to talk abut....I don't really consider that modus operandi "nice" but it's true....happens all the time. That type of guy has a hidden agenda and I don't blame girls that are not attracted to that about a person. Being nice and expecting something in return just because your nice, isn't really all that nice if you ask me.

His definition of a gentleman, on the other hand......doesn't try to hide or disguise his intentions.....he makes them known. He will also stick up for himself in an honorable way and won't bend over backwards for a female/cater to her every whim......opposite of what a "nice" guy typically does. That's an important distinction.

A scale 1-10 describing positive attributes where would you put Jesus?

1---------------------------------------5----------------------------------------10
Okay..... Decent...... Nice....... Charming..... Good.... Great..... The Man.... The Son of God

Because no matter how I boil it down, either sarcastically, ironically, or positively, I for the life of me can't imagine Jesus being a "nice guy."

In the same way that Albert Einstein wasn't an alright scientist.

Michael Jordan wasn't an okay basketball player.

Goliath wasn't kind of tall.

Calling Jesus a nice guy is like calling him a good teacher, or a good prophet.

I've left a lot blank here, but I hope you can understand where I'm coming from.

Well lets make this fair. In modern society it seems like "bad boys" and "bad girls" are considered attractive. Just go into one of those stupid stores and look how many "bad girl" shirts there are. So theoretically Christian women can complain that guys only like "bad girls". As Christians we should not be attracted to evil regardless of our gender.

Personally when I hear the phrase "bad girl" it makes me cringe. Its evil being trivialized. If the shirt was honest, it would say "Female that finds having multiple sexual partners a thing of virtue. Female that never dresses modestly and who main purpose in life is to stir up animal instincts in men and to destroy men's lives" The the shirt should also list all the lives its owner had destroyed and how many children it left fatherless. The shirt would quickly turn into a large volume book.

By turning a serious and complex issue into a short cutesy phrase, we are affecting the subconscious of society and trivializing evil. I hope you don't think I'm going too far here, but this was a tactic used by Nazis during world war 2. Making up insulting phrases for Jews that are quick and easy to say, but hide the real issues.

Ephesians 4:26,27- Be ye angry and sin not, let not the sun go down upon thy wrath. Neither give place to the devil.

so actually it does say to not go to bed angry.. (let not the sun go down upon thy wrath)

It doesn't at all say anything about being free of anger. Being angry is not a sin... we at to be angry and SIN NOT.
I hope that's helpful

I personally LOVE nice Christian men. AUTHENTIC ones and not the ones as Jesus once said "Come to you in sheep's clothing* They are hard to find that's for sure, haha. So, OP, i think your one of a kind :)

No offense but after going through some of the comments (as an observer), I kinda get the feeling the OP (Original poster) is being targeted. As a professing Christian, I feel it is our responsibility to counsel one another in love even if the person in question may be at wrong.

With respect to the OP (original post) don't have much to say as I feel it is not as simple as it sounds. There are inter-plays of many factors that I feel needs to be taken into account to analyse the OP. Maybe when I get the time, I may be able to put my one cent of thoughts on it.
I just realised my post was a little confusing with the use of the word "OP" in both the para though it was supposed to mean two different things. So, thought of clarifying it.

Thank you Pipp@ for stepping in to help :)

Well, geez... my bad for trying to be nice to even the people who 'whine and 'complain'.

That says that I'm an idiot who deserves to spend an extra decade in Purgatory if I end up there. Thank you for implying that I'm an idiot who posts useless replies.

Well, I was just in a good mood. I'm sorry for ruining your day.

Hey, moderators! May you please delete my post on page 5, at the bottom? I agree with Ugly, it's useless and shouldn't be there.

That's right on the money!
I'm sorry for informing you of the details of a situation you commented on with no prior knowledge ,and catching you up to whats going on, instead of letting you continue to talk about things with know clue.
Also sorry for calling you out and having you own up to things.
Sorry for giving you tips on how to have an easier time on the site.
And mods don't delete threads without a valid reason. And simply changing your mind isn't a valid reason? Or should i have not informed you of that and left you sitting in ignorance instead? Maybe i was wrong in educating you?

Not drastic at all!

Matt 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from [their] mothers womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heavens sake. He that is able to receive [it], let him receive [it].

Nice is a very vague word and is a shallow word to describe the Character of Jesus. I agree with your comment and I'll reflect on that more.

Would it be wrong to say Jesus is a good man? God is good and apart from God there is nothing good...but the problem is the worlds perception of what is good and what isn't is distorted so you cannot comprehend the real meaning of the word.

Jesus Himself actually said it was wrong to call Him a good man. He did it to prove a point, but I'd argue it's still wrong. Perfect is the word :). Most of us will have to settle for good, or better yet - Godly.

18And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God
