Are you saying Jesus lied when He said this?

Luke 22

19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying,“This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.[a] 21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.

Amen, The death of Christ brought a new covenant, which also means the old covenant is history.

What..... I won't be able to stone my relatives if they disobey the Lord, since the old covenant is abolished?
Ah..man! :(The bible would have been my only good excuse...

Interesting way to think about it. But I can see why so many disagree with you on that. Do you believe that there is no distinction between new covenant and old covenant?

A lot of people here seem to get radical on both sides, condemning each other.

I don't think we should follow the law of Moses. I truly believe the law written on our hearts is the Holy Spirit. That's the law I believe we should follow. It would seem harsh for God to add more to the old law, since the law itself is a burden to us, especially for those trying to keep it the best they can.

I think one of the reason a lot of people are against the idea of following the old law, because it's a form of religious obedience instead of spiritual. What do you think about this redtent, give me your personal opinion?
I'm sorry, I just found this. I truly believe that we must thoroughly understand all the old covenants, and know they give God principles that are eternal before we can truly understand the new covenant because the new covenant is based on them. So when you say "no distinction between them", I don't think that is the way God would explain His principles to us. I don't think that anything that God tells us in scripture is ever wiped out, I think we must understand all of it, including how Christ took these principles and showed us ways to grow from them.

I worked months to comprehend "the law of Moses". Paul speaks against it, Paul is scripture, Paul speaks for God so he would not speak against God. Scripture is our life, so I dedicated my time for months to searching until I understood. Here is what I found. In the first century, the law of Moses is what they called the rules the Jews asked the gentiles to accept in order to join them. If you read Acts and Galatians you will see what Paul and Peter said about taking this to the gentiles instead of the gospel.

I think the burden God speaks of in regard to the law, is the burden we take on when we don't keep it. Lying, drunkenness, lack of love, such is a terrible burden. God's way makes for peace, love, and light.

I think the new law and the old law is the same, except the OT told more of the expression of love, and the new law gives more of the spirit that results in the expression.

I feel compelled to hammer home the "doing", because people finally understand the being and the Holy Spirit necessary before the doing. But without following through with the doing, we are letting in demons in our world. Demons aren't interested in your intentions, but in our acceptance of sin.

Rightly to know God is to keep his commandments - 1 John 2

3 ''And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments'''.

Assurance of salvation comes when faith results in action.

4 '''He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him'''.

5 "But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him."

6 "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."

The challenge here is to live as Jesus lived in the Spirit, in graciousness, in love.
Before his public ministry began, Jesus lived life in the spirit for 30 years without doing any healings or preaching.

Let's read 15:21 and see why it's there and what it means: For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.

I guess by not stating the obvious it means you don't know what it means. Moses was preached because they hadn't yet received (or believed) the gospel of Christ.

You are so correct. It is about living according to the dictates of where the Spirit leads. Surely, He will not lead contrary to the Father's will. If we keep His will through love, are we not then fulfilling what is called 'commandments"....

If belittling makes you feel better.
I'm writing here to discuss. Therefore, if you keep going with this attitude which is more to provoke emotional response than to discuss, I will ignore you.
That said, for those who are here to discuss:
For Moses HAS BEEN preached, not WAS preached - if the gentiles believers, who were without the written and living word of God at that point in time, wanted to know more about God's requirements, they might learn at the synagogue. Today's believers, if they want to know, they may read the scripture.
The bondage in the context was circumcision, not the whole law because the law is good, verified by the psalmist and Paul and witnessed by many who love the law.
What verse 20 mentioned, is the criteria gentile believers have to abide in order to associate with the saints.
The scripture, yes the OT, is the living word of God and is still living.

If you want to follow the law of Moses, knock yourself out. Just know this: if you choose to follow law, you will be judged by it.

If we do follow according to the law we do become debtors as far as rituals and.sacrifices but that does not do away with the true righteousness of the law as far as sin for the law is there to let us know we have sinned now slavery is wrong so is polygamy but our Lord jesus came to purify us in the spirit , that the Law was magnifiedand made honourable that sin may be abolished in the believer

Now remember if you are debtors of the law the christ was made of no effect in you now the law of the lord jesus is seek the kingdom first and all its righteousness .then that means the levitical law is over according to corinthians and the true law thar was from the begining is in place the righteoussness of the spirit

The righteousness acquired from the Law only handed out death to all those who sought their right standing before God from it.

The righteousness acquired from the Son hands out Life to all those who seek their right standing before God from that Son.

The Law is there for the sinner to know their wickedness.

The Spirit is there for the saint to know their waywardness.

Those things which the Law speak, speak also the Spirit.

With the Son, sin is abolished through a spiritual walk with Him.

With the Law, sin is abolished through a fleshly walk with Him.

One leads to life, the other to death.

In you is fulfilled the saying about people who want to teach the law, but don't know what they're talking about. Circumcision bound one to keep the whole law of Moses. Circumcision was not bondage; the law it bound one to was.

It THAT what the 4,000 years the people lived before Christ came was all about? If this would be so, then we could just as well scrap the Old Testament. Hitler wanted the church to outlaw the OT when he was in power.

I thought God gave Moses those laws so they could live in peace and harmony. Scripture says a lot about them, the 119th psalm is all about them. Scripture doesn't speak of them as you explain it.

I never teach. You do. Just don't keep make things up.

Now nothing we do can make us right with God . But jesus made us right with God .Once we been set right with jesus we are to walk in righteousness now the righteousness of things in Gods point oc view i agree with what. Yoi are saying but we must learn everything pleasing to the Father in jesus

What are you saying:confused:

1 Corinthians 11
23For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

Acts 20:7
"And on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread"

every week:)
on the first day.

The bondage was circumcision?:)
cough.

Genesis 17:26
Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that very day.

....

Galatians 4
3So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental things of the world. 4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Example of Hagar and Sarah
21Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman. 23 But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise. 24 Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.

Incredible! You’re flailing in the air pulling scripture right out of context.

You’re saying the decree out of Jerusalem was given so that the Law of Moses should be preached in every gentile city and read every Sabbath in all the gentile churches Paul established in Asia just like it has always been since the earliest times. In other words the decree was saying that if the Law of Moses (which included circumcision) was NOT preached to the gentiles in Asia and read every Sabbath just like it was since the earliest times then the gentiles would NOT be saved. You are saying that the decree was in support of the very thing that was troubling the gentile churches in the first place when a sect of the Pharisees were saying to them it “ is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.” Oh yes… and as a small caveat the decree added: “abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.”

The more you try to defend this mandatory Sabbath day teaching the more absurd this teaching sounds. That the decree out of Jerusalem was actually in support of the very teaching from the Pharisees that was troubling the gentiles churches with an added caveat.
