What day did they buy the spices because i was reading that it was a sabbath then they bought spice the they prepare them

What day did this occurr:confused:
They bought the spices after the annual Sabbath, which was Passover, and delivered them after the weekly Sabbath which was the first day of the following week. These verses are after the annual Passover Sabbath. After Jesus was buried

Luke 23:56 (KJV)

[SUP]56 [/SUP]And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day (weekly) according to the commandment.

Mark 16:1-2 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]And when the sabbath (weekly) was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

No, Pentecost is not the appointed time of firstfruits. The wave sheaf is the day of firstfruits (firstfruits of barley); the two wave loaves are Pentecost (firstfruits of wheat). The above verses describe firstfruits; the day after the sabbath after unleavened bread.
Lev 23:15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
Lev 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
Lev 23:17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.

The firstfruits are offered on the Fiftieth day after the Wave Sheaf.

Ok, I will try to make it very simple and then rest. Pun intended

Jesus died before the annual Sabbath of Passover, and was resurrected after the weekly Sabbath. There is one day between these two Sabbaths when the women bought and prepared spices, and that day was not a Sabbath. There are three days and three nights between these two Sabbath days. With that said, Jesus was in the grave during the three days and nights that fell between these Sabbath days. Counting the 14th day through the 18th day with your fingers, you will count 5 days. Subtract the two Sabbath days and you have 3 days left. It is like the weekly counting from Sabbath to Sabbath. When you do that you count 8 days, not 7. I rest.

Yes, that is the firstfruits of the wheat harvest. The wave offering of two leavened loaves of wheat bread is an entirely different offering, though, than the wave sheaf of barley described in verses 10-14. The first symbolizes the body of Christ (leavened, sinful), and the second symbolizes Christ, the firstfruits from the dead (unleavened, pure). Look it up; the barley harvest came in the spring before the wheat harvest.

This happened just before Christ was presented (waved) to GOD in fulfillment of firstfruits.

Jesus said to her, “Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.’*” John 20:17

This is true. I have had this conversation with others before, and I thank you for the confirmation that the scripture says what it says.

you are a sabbath keepr and still say that Jesus was resurected after sabbath

i have 2 questions that only has to be answered with Matthew 28:1

Did the sabbath finish ?

Did the first day come as yet ? Why or Why Not ?
Matthew 28:1

All I have to say is that a day began as night fell. If the sun goes down at 6 PM. 6.01 PM is the next day. That's the way the Bible is written, and is also the Hebrew way. Jesus was in the grave during both the annual Sabbath, and the weekly Sabbath. Just because we might think that He was buried before night, doesn't make it true. The question would be then; "When was He stuck with the spear? Was it just before dusk? Was He buried after dark?" Maybe. If I keep the Sabbath days, do I have to believe that Jesus rose on the Sabbath? There is nothing in the Bible or the Mosaic Law that says that's the way a person must believe. I just like studying the Hebrew way, and it is very rewarding.

Matthew 12:40. For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Jonah 1:17; Luke 11:30. If you try counting 72 hours it is not going to happen. We have to rightly divided the scriptures! As Jonah was in the whale's belly, Jesus was going to die and raise the third day!

In John 2:18,19 Jesus said to the Jews, destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Jesus spoke of his body, not the building Verse 21.

Matt 27:62-64 The next day that followed Jesus death and the day of preparation was the Sabbath. Note: it was "even" when Joseph begged for the body of Jesus. Verse 59, Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary was there too Verse 61. On the Sabbath Pilate command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, Verse 62. The first day would be the death of Jesus and the Preparation day for the Sabbath. The second day would be the Sabbath and third day would be the first day of the week. No way getting around this!!

Mark 15:42-44 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead (been dead for a while). This means that it was Friday, the day Jesus died, and the following day was the Sabbath.

Joseph, took the body of Jesus down from the cross. Luke 23:50-53.

Luke 23:54-56 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on. And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Ex.20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Those Jews were not worried about keeping the sabbath, remember they went to Pilate and Pilate command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, Someone worked on the Sabbath and on into the first day of the week.

Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome "Had" (all ready) bought sweet spices they were going to go into the tomb and anoint Jesus. Mark 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

As sure as Jonah was in the belly of the whale, Jesus was raised from the dead the third day, which it the first day of the week!

Luk 23:53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
Luk 23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
Luk 23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
Luk 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

It is clear in this passage that the body of Jesus was taken down and wrapped in linen and laid in the tomb during preparation day.

This can only mean one thing to a Jew, This all happened on the Friday before the Sabbath came in which happens at sunset Friday. The text clearly says that the "Sabbath Drew on" This means that the Sabbath is coming close. This is why the women had time to prepare the spices but not apply them because the Sabbath had come.

Luk 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

So the scripture is clear that they did not apply the spices which they had prepared on preparation day until Sunday the First day of the week.

So very clearly Luke records that Jesus died on Friday, Rested on Saturday and rose on Sunday.

So why all this stuff about three days and nights? The problem is people are trying to put western meaning on eastern thoughts.

Jesus multiple times refers to the time he will be dead for.

Mat 26:61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

Mat 27:63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

Mar 8:31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

Joh 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

People focus on the one text that says three days and three nights. but Ignore the fact that Jesus also said simply three days. When we look at how the eastern three days of Jesus worked it fits perfectly with what Luke says.

They reckoned days in full even if only a small portion comes into it. They did not measure in 24 hour periods. So the Fact that Jesus died on a Friday afternoon means that all of Friday will be reckoned in this. Saturday Jesus was in the grave so all of Saturday/Sabbath is reckoned. and early Sunday Jesus rose thus all of Sunday is Reckoned. That is three days and nights.

Its only a problem if you try to make Jesus' words fit our modern western thinking, but clearly Jesus was speaking to Eastern People of His day and thus the days and nights must be reckoned according to their view and not ours. Luke clarifies and makes it clear that Jesus did die on Friday and rise on Sunday morning.

BLessings.

I am new testament

but how could the women buy and prepare spices if they did not believe that Jesus was going to die ?

Also from reading I see that they were always watching and following Jesus . When did they get time to buy the spice in that short space of time ?

The Bible does not tell how, so it doesn't matter. it could have been any number of things. Maybe they had someone bye it for them. They clearly did not stay at the tomb the whole time. so maybe they did it then. who knows I don't see why it matters?

[h=4]What Really Happened from Burial to Resurrection[/h]Christ’s crucifixion took place on Passover day, the 14th of Abib (or Nisan), the first month in God’s Sacred Calendar. This occurred in the year A.D. 31, in which Passover fell on a Wednesday. Many fail to consider the prophecy that the Messiah would be “cut off…in the midst of the week” (Dan. 9:26-27). Wednesday falls in the middle of the week—the very day upon which Passover fell in A.D. 31. According to the Roman calendar, this date was Wednesday, April 25.
Between the ninth and twelfth hours (3:00 - 6:00 p.m.), Christ died (Luke 23:44-46). With Governor Pilate’s permission, Joseph of Arimathaea procured the body, wrapped it in linen (John 19:40) and placed it in the sepulcher (Luke 23:50-53). By the time the burial was complete, the Sabbath “drew on” (vs. 54). Thus, the burial took place on Passover day, shortly before sunset.

That Passover was a preparation day, in that it preceded an annual Sabbath. This annual Sabbath (called the First Day of Unleavened Bread) was called a high Sabbath or “high day” (John 19:31) and fell on a Thursday that year. It was on this day that the high priest and the Pharisees came to Pilate to ensure that Christ’s tomb was securely guarded and sealed (Matt. 27:62-66).

Mark 16:1 records what took place on that Friday: “And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint Him.” (Verse 2 jumps to Sunday morning.) The phrase, “and when the Sabbath was past,” refers to the high day that occurred on Thursday. Since the women could not buy spices on the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday), Friday was the only time they could have done so.
Luke 23:56 states, “And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.” After buying the spices, they returned and prepared them to be applied to Christ’s body in the tomb, which they planned to do after resting on the weekly Sabbath.

I think one would have to search the customs they anointed the dead with the spices to preserve them. Sounds as if they prepared the spices but waited and kept the commandment, and went the next day to do the anointing. Luke 23:55,56 and Mark 16:1-4.

The scriptures prove different! We read and search the scriptures to prove ourselves, not to fit our belief.

Lets take another look...
He died and was buried on the day before the sabbath and raised from the dead the day after, which was the first day of the week. Luke 24:1, Luke 24:17-21

The trouble is, it doesn't work. This only adds up to three days and two nights, not three days and three nights.
Also, John 20:1
tells us that "on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb."

Did you catch the problem here? John tells us it was still dark when Mary went to the tomb on Sunday morning and found it empty. Jesus was already resurrected well before daybreak. Thus He wasn't in the tomb any of the daylight portion of Sunday, so none of that can be counted as a day.

What Really Happened from Burial to Resurrection

Christ’s crucifixion took place on Passover day, the 14th of Abib (or Nisan), the first month in God’s Sacred Calendar.

Not sure where you got this information from but it does not seem to marry up with scripture.

Joh 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

This Sabbath was a high day. what Sabbath?

Luk 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Answer: The Sabbath according to the commandment. this can refer to none other than the 7th day Sabbath. why was it a high day?

Jesus died on the 14th which is Passover. Whenever a feast Sabbath fell on a 7th day weekly Sabbath it was called a high Day. The next Day was the 15th what happened then?

Num 28:17 And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.
Num 28:18 In the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of servile work therein:

It was the first day of Unleavened bread which was to be a feast Sabbath. however this feast Sabbath fell on the 7th day Sabbath the day after Jesus had died. Thus a High Day. The next day as we know was first fruits.

Notice the outlay in Leviticus.

Lev 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover.
Lev 23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
Lev 23:7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
Lev 23:8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
Lev 23:9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 23:10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:
Lev 23:11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

So the 14th was Passover.
the 15th was the beginning of unleavened bread which was a holy convocation with no work.
then the day after the Sabbath was the day of first fruits.

Jesus is our Passover
Jesus purges us from leaven
Jesus is the first fruits of the dead.

1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
1Co 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
1Co 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

14th Friday, Jesus dies our Passover lamb.
15th Sabbath, Jesus rests on the Sabbath and His perfect sacrifice purges us from leaven/sin
16th Sunday, Jesus rises after the Sabbath to life, our hope of resurrection.

By the way the middle of the week is a year not a day. 31 ad was the middle of the week 3 and a half years after Jesus was anointed by the spirit in 27 ad.

Blessings.
