OK, forgive the title. That was just to get you to look inside the thread.

Things CC has taught me, or re-taught me, this year – both serious and not-so (you figure out which). Some have references to threads that will make the newbies go “huh?” Sorry, newbies.

My top ten list:

I learned…

10. that this is not a dating site.

9. how to make inexpensive homemade hippie deodorant that works.

8. that CC is a place where you don’t have to speak “Christianese” to fit in. You can be real. Yeah!

7. that teen girls in Alaska are generally much wiser than teen girls in the rest of the country.

6. that internet trolls don’t always see themselves as trolls, and that many are just hurting, and we should remember them in prayer.

5. that there are many who are hurting who are not trolls, and we should pray for them as well.

4. that Doctor Who should never be abbreviated as Dr. Who (thanks, Nautilus)

3. that many godly men and women want the same thing. They may want it packaged differently, and may describe it differently, but it seems to be essentially the same thing.

2. that because of #3, I have a hope of finding someone compatible when it’s the right time.

1. that I can be missing my “rip” and still have a fulfilling life.

What pearls of wisdom has CC given you this year? :)

I've actually had quite a year on CC. It's my first one, actually, heh, but it was quite the year.

1. Do not go to the Bible forum if you don't want a headache from facepalming hard and slamming your head against the wall.
2. Not everyone is who they say they are. Be careful.
3. You can be real and not be condemned for it.
4. Sometimes I need a break from CC, and then sometimes CC is my break from my real life.
5. There are great males out there who love Christ, are honest, protective (in a good way) and trustworthy. Same goes for females.
6. CC has helped me (and continues to help) through some personal issues
7. zaoman is a sparkly vampire. A vampire full of awesome wisdom, that is.
8. People are very diverse, but also more alike than you'd think

Awesome!

Except vampires don't sparkle. Period. (Long live Joss Whedon!)

I am unfamiliar with the above acronym in a context not associated with cartoon tombstones. Could you please elaborate?

I liked this point: "7. that teen girls in Alaska are generally much wiser than teen girls in the rest of the country."

and not the trick to get the attention to re-teach.

Isn´t it like lying?

:p

It was a typo in a thread waaaaayy back referencing Adam's rib (as in missing a part of yourself/needing a mate). The OP of that thread typed "rip" instead of "rib" and it became a running/recurring joke for months.

In my time of being here, I've observed things about CC that are different (in good and bad ways) than another forum I frequent.

1.) The community is pretty awesome. Yes, there are cliques here and you have your fair share of creepers/pharisees, but overall the community seems strong in their faith and their ability to love.

2.) There seems to be two different communities here (forumers and the chat users), but that's not a bad thing. People get to choose what they're most comfortable with, and I like that this forum offers that opportunity.

3.) This forum is a lot more diverse than the other one that I frequent, which brings about different fruitful conversations with brothers and sisters across the globe.

4.) Members usually aren't blatantly bashed for their opinions (unless it's in the Bible forum :p). On the other forum that I visit, I was bashed just for posting an article about how to become a less negative person. So I give CC an A+ on that spectrum. It makes me feel more welcome.

5.) People are generally friendly here.

6.) There are a lot of active members here, other Christian forums seem to be dying (which always brings me back to Christian Chat).

Brilliant thread title. Only it's a little uncomfortable when your daughters come in to see what you're up to, and you are reading the masturbation thread. :p

I hope I'm not considered a creeper or a pharisee in this community. Oh wait...I might already be considered one. :p

Things I've learned on CC this year:

10. There is a depth of spiritual maturity on CC that was totally unexpected for an internet chat site.

9. There is a genuine love for one another and for the Lord on these forums.

8. You must not, under any circumstance, treat this site as a dating site.

7. Posts made in Streams will disappear rapidly and may never resurface.

6. Things like age and location fall away completely when posting with brothers and sisters here.

5. Ignoring trolls is effective and great in theory, but many find it impossible to put into action. (Myself included.)

4. Derailments are frowned on in the first several pages of a thread, and delighted in thereafter.

3. Multi-reply button is best friend of all.

2. For people who just want a little social interaction without romantic complications, CC is a godsend.

1. I love all you people. :)
