Interesting posts. But I have one question - do you believe that a Christian must celebrate the Feasts in order to be truly saved?

Do we not celebrate Passover when we come to the cross in God's Word and repent;
and when we are cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb?

no dear brother neweagle...

for it was a shadow of what was to be manifested...

our one and only true savior... our lord jesus christ.

for each feast was a shadow and a type to be fulfilled by our lord jesus christ himself.

let me ask something...

if we were to celebrate each feast and we sacrificed that lamb at passover, eat unleavened bread, do the firstfruit offerings, do each sacrifice daily of a lamb at 9am and 3pm for our sins, bake two loaves at pentecost, blow the trumpets, the yearly sacrifice for us all on the day of atonement, and then dwell in temporary dwellings and have a feast unto the lord and exchange gifts...

how does that tie into old testament and new testament prophecies fulfilled by our lord jesus christ for each and everyone of us especially when it states in hebrews and colosssians that all in the old testament was a shadow of things in the new testament that had to be fulfilled by only one... the only one who came from the very face of god himself... our lord jesus christ.

colossians 2:14-17
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

hebrews 10:1-10
For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

so how could that be done without nullifying the works of god through his only begotten son... our lord jesus christ?

galatians 2:16-21
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

god bless.

Umm, now the cross is a spoon and Jesus has feathers? Anyone here buying this?

dear brother danschance and to all..

please follow and respect everyone on this thread on their views, opinions, or that which they have heard, studied, or read just as sister karraster shared that in which she just read.

and to those who wish to join this thread... please lets be respectful, loving, understanding of each others views, and show patience to one another.

for if you have nothing nice to say then please refrain for we are not here to argue but to grow deeper into the very image of our lord jesus christ.

and lets also discuss each feast according to its post and any questions or concerns for that particular feast. for we are all here to learn god's holy truth according to his holy word and not to mans view or to our own views.

and please... no jumping around or changing the threads topic.. this is on the 7 feasts.

thank you...

and just in case my words aren't humble enough or godly then lets look and use god's holy word to show how we as christians should be with one another and see if you compare to what god is asking from us himself...

here are a few holy scriptures from god himself to those reading and replying in this thread of the 7 feasts... we must not act out negatively or question were anyone stands or were anyone is measured with our father in heaven... for this is not love at all.

romans 12:10
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

ephesians 4:2
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

1 thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

hebrews 6:10
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

1 peter 3:8
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.

god bless

The new testament never tells Christians to obey any celebration. Col. 2:16

this thread dear brother danschance isn't about celebrating or following the 7 feasts but how each feast shall be fulfilled by our lord jesus christ and how they contrast to our lord jesus christ alone and no other.

so far 4 have been fulfilled and three are still to be fulfilled by our lord jesus christ.

spring feasts
1. passover
2. unleavened bread
3. firstfruits
4. pentecost

fall feasts
5. trumpets
6. atonement
7. tabernacles

for we see that these feasts are the former and latter rains. a timeline for the gentiles and the jews.

god bless

I was reading a story about a personal account of removing leaven from the house and all the lessons for the children in the household. After a thorough cleaning the mother would place a small amount of leaven by the stove while the children were busy with the father taking flashlights around the house looking for any remaining leaven. The father had with him a feather and a wooden spoon, when the children found the leaven they watched as the father brushed it on the wooden spoon (the cross, or stake) with the feather (Messiah's wings of grace). They would wrap it in white linen and remove it from the house.

I regret not showing my children these things while they were little. What better way to develop a lifestyle of following Messiah, than to incorporate Him and His teaching in all our ways. For all He has done for us, why didn't I show that to my children..it makes me feel remorse.

or, you could teach them that Christ died for our sins, though He was without sin.
that sin separates us from God and that all who are born of the Spirit are no longer slaves to sin.
don't sin.

you think spoons and yeast and feathers have anything to do with the Gospel? k...

Galatians 4
Sons and Heirs

1I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave,a though he is the owner of everything, 2but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. 3In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principlesb of the world. 4But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Example of Hagar and Sarah
21Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law?
22For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman. 23But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise. 24Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. 25Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia;e she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. 26But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. 27For it is written,

“Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear;
break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than those of the one who has a husband.”

28Now you,f brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. 30But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” 31So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.

I thought it was a sweet story told in a way a child might understand. But I guess some may not have had a sweet mother and these ideas are foreign to them.

Was reading somewhere tonight about the scripture Jesus said, "no man knows.." referring to His coming back, and also how that scripture relates to one of the fall feasts because of the new moon and not knowing until you look in the sky.

I think that the prophetic events correlate to the time of the specific feast days. For example, Jesus was crucified on Passover. Ergo, when future prophetic events occur they'll fall on the feast days according to the lunar calendar. The Hebrews were to pay attention to the phases of the moon in the sky for a reason. I think there may have been more wisdom to Christ's words than simple analogy when he said:

Matthew 16:3 [...] O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

I agree. There were shepherds in the field keeping watch and could tell by the stars that a Messiah had been born.:)

The Creator's Calender is a foreign concept to most people, but to know it would bring understanding about what time it is. Also, understanding the feasts ties in to understanding the marriage supper between Messiah and His bride. It's really the most beautiful love story ever told, and I want to know it.

jews today still perform those empty rituals.
think it helps them at all?

here's a sweet story for you:

a 7 year old grandnephew asked his grandma yesterday what heaven is like; he couldn't wait to get there; but what about people who don't believe in Jesus (he was pondering his late great-grandma)? where did they go? not to heaven, he said...because they didn't like the Lord.

where do they go?
he decided his great-grandma was a "good person"; so she would be in heaven anyway.
then he decided that couldn't be right either..."since people who don't love Jesus aren't really "good""

...

what good would a spoon; feather or yeast have done in addressing this issue with a 7 year old?
should he have been told he wouldn't going either if he didn't act out the feasts; keep the Sinai sabbath; use a sacred name etc?

help me out here.

who cares about what Jesus did though.
playing jewish church is fun.

Perhaps you should go back and reread post #2

One of the 1st years we did unleavened bread, I saw the instruction to get it out of your house. So I put in a bag and put it outside in my alley, then went and got it a week later.
LESSON: Sometimes I put sin out of my life for a season because it seems appropriate, only to intentionally go back and indulge in it again later.

Another year, we gave our yeast to our neighbor who didn't care about the Feast.
LESSON: Why would I pass along my sinful nature to someone else and let them deal with it?
LESSON 2: Why don't I continually give that nature over to God and let HIM deal with it instead?

An excellent lesson indeed, Matt my friend.

as i mentioned ealier - all feasts are/have been fulfilled...by and through Christ.
just look at them:)
to make some latter rain or fall feast future fulfillment, you have to change the ORDER.
what you don't get is, they were SIGNS; for ISRAEL...to point to Christ. done.

so if someone has posted on their fulfillment in and by Him, let me know.

Thanks for the calendar post. I have already seen controversy there too. Full knowledge will never be attained while we are yet flesh, so we test everything and pray. If we knew everything there would be nothing to seek.

I relate to your leaven story. Reminds me of realizing certain books in my house were not biblical teaching. What to do? Donate them? After thinking on it, they were trash, so out they went.

I can see where so many lessons are learned about God's nature when we live according to His Word. Kinda like a parent who says do this don't do that, without explaining the why, the more we conform to God the more we understand the why.

There are different calendars and we do use the calendar of Hillel II based on this scripture...

Rom 3:1 What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?
Rom 3:2 Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.
