Do you see yourself referenced in scripture? :) You wouldn't be the first to expect the end within your own lifetime. As I've stated my own great grandmother thought this, and she died at age 102 almost 50 years ago. There is evidence in scripture that the Apostles believed Jesus would return in their lifetimes.
and thus the scripture is fulfilled: know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking following after their own lusts and saying ( where is the promise of his coming? for ever since the fathers fell asleep all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation) the quoted part was fulfilled in your post. now i have come across many mockers and unbelievers of the pretribe rapture or even the rapture itself or Christ coming in our lifetime. I have seen them smirk and laugh because they were proven right since Jesus has not yet come. because of how i and others believe he is coming very soon they take great pride in being proven right everyday he does not come. Yet in all humbleness we continue to look to the sky because we know he is coming. The bible clearly warns we will be mocked and ridiculed for our faith and when indeed he does come it will be a shock because of the disbelief of his imminent return. many say he is coming soon or he is coming now and many reply soon to him could be ten or even 100 years from now. but this is simply not true, if The lord says he is coming soon then expect him soon. do not concern yourself with how soon is soon to him, do not say it could be years because while his time is different than ours he would not give us a false hope. so expect him in days and do not allow yourself to grow weary in waiting lest the bridegroom comes when stop believing or grow tired of waiting

Those scriptures are basically the same as Matthew 24, and do not give an actual date. I think I understand what you may be referring to GISMYS, but you are overlooking I think what the original question was that the person who started the thread asked. Which is, "when will Christ return?". We do not know the actual date per se, but we can say that it's definitely going to be soon, but pretty much the world has been in that phase for 2000 years because there have been wars for 2000 years since Christ's ascension. But yes, we definitely are to "be ready", because just as a "thief in the night", when He will return. Also the Scriptures you posted he is talking to believers REGARDING unbelievers. So as believers, we have our minds and hearts opened and not blind like unbelievers because the Holy Spirit lives in us. So what 1st Thessalonians is saying, basically is just to be ready and similarly to Jesus I the Garden of Gethsemane, "watch and pray". Signs like that, mean it's getting closer. But we still will not know the actual date.

YES!!! GOD'S WORD SAYS BELIEVERS ""WILL"" KNOW WHEN JESUS IS AT THE DOOR READY TO RETURN!!! AND THAT TIME IS NOW!!!!===First Thessalonians 5:1-11
[SUP]1[/SUP]But of the times and seasons, my brothers, you have no need that I
should write to you.
[SUP]2[/SUP]For you yourselves know perfectly well that the
day of master comes like a thief in the night.
[SUP]3[/SUP]For when they will say, Peace and tranquility;
then sudden destruction will come on them, as travail on a pregnant woman; and
they will not escape.
[SUP]4[/SUP]But you, my brothers, are not in darkness, that
that day will overtake you as a thief.
[SUP]5[/SUP]You are
all the sons of light and the sons of the day; and you
are not the sons of the night, nor the sons of
darkness

There are accessibility features on Windows that he can utilize. The fact that a 70 year old can use a computer (maybe he lied about his age), who knows, but if he can use a computer, and he can read our small writing he can change his to lower caps and make his screen bigger so he can see better. that's no excuse to do that, and he took liberties by the things he said, called names, and was very inconsiderate. we are not animals in here. we are imperfect yes, and in need of Jesus' grace.

Maybe it helps the guy see what hes writing better, i won't say his name if what my discernment tells me what it says i don't want to say it. maybe his cap tab is stuck, i'm not sure. If his name says what i think it says, i think it would be a nice gesture for him to change it.

Karraster, I am learning and I have made mistakes as well here in the forums. It takes a lot of grace to not "react". If someone does not agree with you on something, it's not the end of the world. you can agree to disagree. We can know a lot of things about scripture, about God, prophesy, and the Holy Spirit, but if that which we "teach" to others will not be well received by the second party, then we have "taught" no one and our words were in vain and not spoken in Christ's love. There are exceptions however, because there will be weirdos and people who will not listen and have the spirit of satan, but most people are just a bunch of sinners who are Christians and make mistakes just as you and I do. No one ever has EVERYTHING all figured out. We can all learn from each other and as long as we read the Bible on our own, we will not be deceived when someone says something that is "off", if someone doesn't understand, and they are not yelling or acting very rudely, then I think they deserve the time to understand and learn. I've made mistakes in here with letting people ruffle my feathers, we are all works in progress. Try to do as the moderator said in here, and walk away from your computer for a short time, then come back and respond civilly. (I've failed at it too! but I'm learning)

God bless. :)

Wrath is not tribulation. Tribulation is not wrath. Which part do you not understand?

OR: get it straight from Arnold Murray.
word for word.

You over looked the documentation for what I reported on my post #103 . Arnold Murray quotes scripture word for word. If it sounds similar to what I said, then that is why : It is written. Again my post #103 .

It's no surprise that your kinda in the habit of reading over a lot of the Bible. -_- what excuse would you have, to think God's words came from a man, unless you didn't know it's actually written, and comes from the Bible.

Here is a blog I wrote a while back on this topic. We all are works in progress.

Braveheartgal, when I see that you practice what you preach, then perhaps your words will have merit. Feel free to correct my spelling, I know you want to.

As far as the topic title, I would like to contribute something to chew on, because everytime I see the title these terms continue to come into my mind. As I have said before, I have yet to study prophecy, but I have/do accept the eschatology view of Christ appearing for our appointment, not because of or that I have studied out anything in depth with end times or last days, but because I understand who the new creature is and what the new man is for, that being said;

The day of Christ

The day of the Lord

These terms mean something, just like "Christ is at hand"

The kingdom of heaven, is at hand

The kingdom of God, is at hand

Was preached, separately, no coincidence there, they are distinct.

Christ said,"My kingdom is not of this world" check out, Luke 22:29, 30 kjv

What is that kingdom?

Those saved in the dispensation of the grace of God, by the gospel according to the revelation of the mystery given to the apostle Paul, are said to be "translated" by the Father into the kingdom of His dear Son.

I think it is very important to let the words on the page mean what they say & say what they mean, even if it means by examining ourselves contrary to what we made to be truth for ourselves. Couple more verse;

Matt 21:43, Lk 12:32, Acts 1:6

There are four primary kingdoms, one of which will not stand, of course. There are three realms of dominion.

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our*glory.

Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known*it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Compare Acts 3:21 & Rms 16:25 kjv

There are different body types, for work & function of predestinated vocations, this has to do with the "all in all" and inheritances. When it comes to sin, sin nature, the flesh, etc., our worst enemy is the system, wisdom & theology of men.

Matthew 24 was talking about the descendents of Jacob whose name was changed to Israel. It is not talking about the country Israel. of the Middle East.

He was teaching his disciples (learners) of the doctrines of Jesus Christ.
They had the following characteristics
1. Had given evidence of repentance and faith toward God.
2. Had been scripturally immersed by John the Baptist
3. CALLED OUT BY CHRIST
4. Were given the authority to make, immerse and teach believers ALL THINGS not just the O.T.
5. The term (CHURCH), assembly, ekklesia is used in the PRESENT tense numerous times by JESUS as applied to his disciples.

It is funny how the same people who push the O.T. and use quirky comments seem to forget that there IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK under the covenant of reconciliation as the two have been brought back under the same banner, and only seem to remember this when it is convenient!

// there IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK*//

This only applies to the new creature, not time past saints, the little flock is still just that, the household of God is made up of some distinct inhabitants.

Acts 3:21 "since the world began"

Matt 25:34 "from the foundation of the world"

God plainly shows in His word ministries distinctly, if we don't try so hard not to see them. In early Acts, filled with the Holy Ghost we see over and over "ye men of Israel" being addressed.

Acts 2:5 Jews... devout men, out of every nation- down to verse 10, Jews and proselytes. Look at Acts 4:8.

Even Cornelius was included in the term,"devout man", that feared God, look at Acts 10:22. Peter did not even want to go to his home, because "it is an unlawful thing for a Jew" Acts 10:28.

During the ministry of the Messianic house or church... gentiles had the Holy Ghost fall on them, the call was still preached "unto the Jews only", for a reason (Acts 11:19). The apostle Paul, after his conversion, read Gal 1:11-18. Paul preached the faith of Christ, according to the gospel of the grace of God. We never read about preaching "saved by grace through faith" justification, "neither Jew nor Greek" in the other ministry, but doctrine of enduring, remission, time of restitution ect.

God is brilliant, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

The rapture is right around the corner now, praise God. And I for one will be happy to see the "wheat" taken from this cesspool of a planet...

Good luck to all you "tares"...you were warned... \o/

I think we all need to be careful to read every detail written down. Because, its written there is no return before the tribulation:

His return is After the tribulation. We have to read and learn what the Bible has already said of the nature of the tribulation, and what to expect. I remember reading its a time of peace, and deception. Specifically a apostasy : that has to do with the state of ones soul, not their body .

Everyone alive on earth at that time is going through that confusion. The one way you can escape it is in a spiritual sense; that you know what to expect and Don't, find that "hour of temptation", tempting . Don't take my word for it, read Matthew 24:29-30 for starters .

The ones taken, is taken by the subject. that is the dragon ( antichrist ). Remember Noah's flood was used to teach this, how, Noah worked in the field, preparing the ark. But the rest were taken in the flood. So shall the end be in like manner . Revelation 12, at the end, documents what kind of flood He was referring to .

You don't want to be the one taken.

When we are ready just like the word says in James, i wrote when we are ready before without scripture to back it up and got a hmmm, James 5:7, Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain..... the Word says when we are ready, God is being patient.

Have you ever noticed that those who seem most keen on looking for the evidence of the end times are often the same people who are somewhat prone to various conspiracy theories? Or is it just the conspiracy theorist in me who imagines this?

It is so that this is true. The reason is because the govt./big business/religion conspiracies are directly related to last day conditions leading up to the coming of Christ. There must be a takeover of govt/business/religion to hand over control to the Antichrist. It's the setting of the stage.
Interesting idea, Stephen. I hadn’t thought of that connection before. The question then becomes are they prone to believing these interlinked conspiracies because of their belief in the End Times? My brother-in-law, for example, is an atheist yet he strikes me as something of a conspiracy theorist. At a family gathering he expressed the view that the crown was behind the death of Lady Diana. I tore a strip of him, which I had never done before, and I’ve never heard the nonsense repeated. My brother thinks aliens may be visiting earth. He converted to Catholicism some years ago, more to please his wife I think than out of any true conviction. I never hear him speak of End Times, though he does talk about aliens a fair bit, and ghosts.

It seems to me there may be a subset of people who simply are inclined to be interested in conspiracy type stories. If the individual is deeply religious they might be more inclined than the next religiously minded individual who doesn’t get worked up over End Times scenarios. What do you think?

Anyone interested in End Times claims might also find the book by Jonathan Kirsch, A History of the End of the World, quite interesting.

Nathan3...

Umm.....no.

The tribulation will "not" be "peaceful". Billions of people will die in terrible ways.

The "rapture" isn't Jesus "returning" to us, it's "US" going to be with Him.

You're right, I absolutely WON'T take YOUR word for it. I prefer the truth, thanks.

I find it sad and confusing that you would choose hell on earth when God offers you refuge in heaven. Oh well...good luck then, eh...?
