I'll just leave this here..

I am not a scofield fan nor do I reference him, but this reminds me of another story...

MYSTERY BABYLON DENOMINATION
FOREIGN MISSIONS BOARD

To: Rev. Saul Paul
First Christian Church
Antioch, Syria
Dear Mr. Paul:
I have your application for missionary appointment before me, and will be as frank as possible concerning your qualifications as a foreign missionary. We have to be very careful in choosing our missionaries, and our Missions Board has reviewed your case thoroughly. We have decided that it would be unwise to send you to the foreign field for the following reasons:

 1. It has come to our attention that you are doing secular work on the side. We do not feel that making tents and full time ministry go together very well. [1Th 2:9] It seems that you do not have enough experience in trusting the Lord for your income. You should make up your mind whether you want to preach or continue your profession.
 2. Your previous actions have been very rash and unseemly for a minister. We learned that in a public meeting you opposed Dr. Simon Peter, an esteemed minister with a high reputation. [Ga 2:11-14] We also hear that you refused to compromise with other ministers such that a special council meeting had to be called in Jerusalem to prevent a serious split in the churches. [Ac 15:1-30] We frown on putting ideology before people. For your own good, I am enclosing a copy of Daius' Carnegus book on "How to Win Jews and Influence Greeks." [Ga 1:10, 1Th 2:4-6]
 3. You have conflicted with mature Jewish brethren in nearly every city you have visited who simply want to encourage the converted Pagans to be properly circumcised. Mr. Paul, you must know that these men are our most learned sages with a deep sense of the roots and history of our faith. As well, and more importantly, these men control the synagogues you could be ministering in if you would simply tone down your dialog into a more friendly and respectful exchange. [Gal 5:2-12]
 4. In checking back, we discovered your Christian education consisted of a three year course in Arabia. [Ga 1:15-20] We find that the Arabian school has not been approved by our accreditation board.
 5. Further, you admit to being an unskilled public speaker. [2Co 10:10, 11:6] Paul, surely you must know that people expect fine elocution from men of God, and that as a denomination we stand for the highest levels of excellence in the pulpit. Yet instead of going to much-needed oratory classes you spend your time making tents instead. From your correspondence, you also appear to be spending a considerable amount of time writing letters to insignificant little "churches" that meet in homes. [Ac 28:3-6] Honestly now; do you really think that such misguided activities are what will lead to your success in the world of religion? We strongly suggest that you put down your tools and set aside your pen, and instead practice hand gestures, facial expressions, and voice modulation in front of a mirror for several hours a day until you come up to par.
 6. It has come to our attention that you often emphasize "the power of God" and "the gifts of the Spirit." [1Co 2:3-5, 12:1-7] Also that you speak in tongues a great deal. [1Co 14:18] Surely you must realize that such as this only drives off the better class of people, and lacks the dignity of a more nuanced approach. [1Co 3:18]
 7. It has been proven to our satisfaction that you had hands laid on you at Antioch with prophecy going forth, [Ac 13:1-3] with none of the Apostles or Headquarters brethren present to conduct this ordination service in the prescribed manner.
 8. We see here that you have a jail record in several places. [2Co 11:23-27] If this is true, it puts you in a bad light, for our denomination has always stood for a high standard of civic responsibility. I fear it would damage our reputation to have someone representing us that had served time in jails and prisons. Frankly, Mr. Paul, we seriously doubt you could have been innocent and the judge wrong in so many cases. It just doesn't look right.
 9. It seems that you are a troublemaker, Mr. Paul. Several business men of Ephesus have written us that you were the cause of severe loss of business to them and stirred up a mob protest. You must learn to cultivate the friendship and influence of men and groups such as these. [Ac 16:16-22]
 10. We also have some details of a shameful "over the wall in a basket" episode at Damascus, [2Co 11:30-33] plus a stoning at Lystra, and several other violent actions taken against your ministry. [2Ti 3:11] Haven't you ever suspected that conciliatory behavior and gentler words might gain you more friends?
 11. We have learned through channels that following some trouble with a preacher on the island of Cyprus, you began to allow yourself to be known by the Gentile pronunciation of your name rather than the proper Hebrew. [Ac 13:4-11] Yet another conflict, and then a name change. This does not seem to us to be conduct becoming to the ministry.
 12. You admitted in your application that in the past you neglected such needy fields as Bithynia, just because "the Spirit didn't lead that way," and that you undertook a hazardous journey on the strength of a dream you had at Troas. [Ac 16:6-10] Mr. Paul, surely you don't expect us to go along with such flimsy and fantastic excuses for your seemingly purposeless wanderings.
 13. Many times you did not stay long enough, in our opinion, to get a church properly established. You left your converts many times without even a pastor to guide them, and without setting the church in order in some good hierarchical denomination. [Ts 1:5]
 14. We hear also from Troas that you preach too long, one sermon lasting almost twenty-four hours, even to the extent that a young man fell asleep and was seriously injured. [Ac 20:7-12] Studies have shown that 42.5 minutes is the average time a minister can hold the attention of an audience. Our advice is thus for you to shorten your sermons considerably. Our motto is "Stand up, speak up, and shut up."
 15. It is reported from your home church that you could not get along with your fellow ministers; that John Mark--the nephew of one of our highest leaders--had to leave your party in the middle of a journey; and that you had a sharp quarrel with gentle, good natured Barnabas. [Ac 15:36-40] Now these men are well thought of in Jerusalem and we wonder why you are always having trouble with your fellow workers?
 16. We have notarized affidavits from four very popular and influential preachers: Diotrephes, Demas, Hymenaeus, and Alexander; to the effect that it is impossible for them to cooperate with either you or your program. [1Ti 1:20]
 17. From what we hear, you seem to think that you have some direct sanction from on-high to reveal some "Mystery". [Ep 3:3-4] Can't you realize that any truth that is to be revealed would come through Headquarters to the recognized, established brethren, and that after it had been checked by our Procedure and Doctrine Committee that we would distribute it on to the field workers?
 18. Finally, we hear that you claim to be an Apostle. We know nothing of this being passed upon by the proper authoritative channels and wonder how you could back that claim up, when the last Apostle was voted into office right here in Jerusalem by casting lots. [Ac 1:26] Now that our denomination has been established, why do you imagine there would be any need for God to continue the Apostolic gifting?
As you see, Mr. Paul, we feel definitely after close scrutiny of your case, that you are undoubtedly the most unqualified applicant we have ever seen, and my advice for you is to find a church where you can work in harmony, and use your past education as perhaps a Sunday School teacher.
I hope I have prevented you from making a terrible mistake in your life.
Most sincerely yours,J. Flotsam Bureaucraticus

Jesus said only his Father in heaven new of that time and day not even he knew! Talking about the second coming of Christ.

Matthew 24:36, "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

Mark 13:32, "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father."

Not time and day, day and hour. There is a big difference.

Mark 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

God bless

The 7 Biblical Feasts lay out the plan of God for Mankind; they completely model the mission, the sequence, and the significance of Christ’s redemptive work. They don't give the year, but they give the month and date of the time Christ will return.

The first four feasts told of the month and day that the crucifixion, the time Christ’s body was put in the tomb and did not decay, and the day of His resurrection. The Holy Spirit was given on the day of Shavuot. The last three feast tell of the second coming of Christ, and if they do not happen on the day of the feast that celebrate it, it will break a pattern of the Lord. Not the year, we are not given a clue to that only signs we are to watch for.

The first Fall feast is Rosh Hashanah….what is usually called Jewish New Year
Rosh Hashanah is also called the Feast of Trumpets
Rosh Hashanah, by tradition, is the day God sits in Judgment on the Universe

Ten days later comes The Day of Atonement, The day all sins will be forgiven and we will be saved.

Five days after that is the Feast of Tabernacles, when we will be given new homes for a new life.

•Feast of Trumpets: September 25-26 2014
•Day of Atonement: October 4-5 2014
•Feast of Tabernacles/Shelters/Harvest: October 9-16 2014

From all the people I've met in person who were super-obsessed with end times stuff I've noticed also seem to share this in common: judging others and seem to be lacking grace/love. Seems a bit ironic, doesn't it??

I'll just leave this here..

Actually Darby (Irish) was the brainchild of Dispensational teaching, not Scofield, and it came at a time ( early 19th century) when many in Great Britain were seeing in the Old Testament prophets that Jews would be regathered in their land...turned out they were right. The anti-semites don't like to admit to those prophecies but...that's another subject.

Oh my, an old thread, my predictions are way off now :(

A lot of new and false doctrines and beliefs came about in the 1800s. It is really crazy how active the 1800s were. Coincidence? I think not.

Darbyanism - Rapture Theory

Jesus will return......when it happens......could be in a few days....or a hundred years....or a thousand.....or even 10,000 years, or more...........

All I know is that sometime he will return.

Can't be less than 3-1/2 years and 31 days. I doubt very seriously it will be one hundred years away.

I think it is best to try not to pin his return around certain years like you are doing. Many in the past have done the same and turned out to be wrong. I think it is best to just keep to uncertainty about what year Jesus will return.

Tell that to Daniel and John...

Dan 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Rev 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
Rev 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
Rev 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Rev 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
Rev 11:9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
Rev 11:10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
Rev 11:11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
Rev 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

The final 3-1/2 years + 30 days have not started yet.

Jesus will come when the world rebels against God by establishing a world that is all about people with no governmental or religious authority above them.

The man of sin's agenda is to establish a world that is all about people with no governmental or religious authority above them,a kingdom that has never been before on earth.

God will not give up on the world until the world gives up on Him.

God will give the world 7 years to have their way and rebel against the truth because God is going to allow all people that do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom and take the mark.

When they take the mark then repentance is no longer available to them and God will take His children.

The world will operate for the first three and one half years by a one world government and a one world religious system and the world will be split in to 10 sections with a leader in each section who are the 10 horns in Revelation.

The 6 trumpets are 6 disasters that happen on earth but instead of people turning to God they keep trying to solve their problems by people's efforts.

The 6th trumpet will be the Muslim,Islam world, against the one world government because the one world religious system will be a system where all religions can be practiced but you cannot try to convert someone to your religion or you will be guilty of a hate crime punishable in the international court system because all religions are valid for spiritual enlightment.

This war will be so terrible in which nuclear weapons will fly and the book of Daniel chapter 7 states that the little horn will pluck up 3 of the horns by the roots which means the Arab nations will be devastated where they have no more growth or power.

Because this war is so terrible the world will not trust government to solve their problems anymore and governments will collapse.

After this war the world will still not turn to God so God gives them the beast to rule over them.

In Revelation chapter 12 some people think that war already happened but it has not.Satan was kicked out of the 3rd heaven by God and the clouds above us is considered heaven.Satan is the prince of the power of the air.

When this war happens it is between Michael and his angels and the dragon and his angels. The dragon and his angels lose and are cast to earth and Satan appears as the beast which the Bible says the earth has become the habitation of devils and the cage of every hateful and unclean bird which means Satan and the devils are confined to this world and cannot roam the air anymore.

The world will accept the beast to rule over them who will be a man claiming to be God and will exalt himself above all that is called God or is worshipped and all religions will collapse.

When they take the mark repentance is no longer available to them and they will make war against the saints which the Bible says that the beast prevails against them, that he will destroy the mighty and holy people, and the saints are given in to his hands for three and one half years.

God will then take His children which they will receive a glorified body and pour out His wrath on the world leading uo to the battle of Armageddon which they will attack Israel and God will fight the world and save Israel who will realize that Jesus is their Messiah during the first half of the tribulation by 2 witnesses God sends them.

When God puts them down the millennial reign will begin which Jesus and the saints will rule over one 6th of the world that God spared that fought against Israel.

I believe Christ will return during my life on this Earth.

Does the bible teach this and do you believe it?

Adam

Howdy,
Whenever the full number of Gentiles is reached, those that God predetermined to save before the foundation of the world.
Then Christ will come, does it hurt to believe in our lifetime no, its possible. The main thing is we should be ready and watching and if we are, than how many more people do we need to give the gospel to?

Instead of interpreting scriptures and reading yourself into Scripture in a twisted way that should never be done, use the words of Jesus most obvious sign. And also the reason he came to earth. For ALL the nations, not just America!

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Matt 24:14

"And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations." Mark 13:10

So no sitting around looking up to the sky, you should be on mission with God and proclaiming the gospel to all the world. Because then Jesus would come again!

That includes this one as well, as we are two or three generations removed of people growing up in the church and over the last 30 years the church has done such a poor job in presenting the gospel people dont get it, as they have only been given a part of the gospel or not even the right gospel. Its like reading the end of the book without the begining, it dosent make a lot of sense. Most Christains cant even articulate correctly what they are saved from.

Matthew 24 was talking about the descendents of Jacob whose name was changed to Israel. It is not talking about the country Israel. of the Middle East.

How do you know they are not one in the same? How do you know that the nation of Israel is not the nation of Israel?
