I am not suggesting you learn and use the shofar for this purpose, but it is used to assemble the faithful..........among other uses.
So you make fun of people who are worshipping in a way you can look at it. Do you bow your head in church as you pray? How would you like someone pointing a finger at you doing that saying "priceless" "stuffed animal" "Made in China". Is there a scripture asking you to bow your heads? Perhaps there is, but I'll bet you don't think of that as you bow. People bow for tradition, not to follow scripture, usually. These people are thinking of scripture as they let people see them worship. And I'll bet you are careful that no one could possibly guess you are a Christian unless they saw you go to church. "Let's pretend we're Hebrews". Perhaps you think the OT God is a Hebrew God and you aren't included? How could you worship Christ if you won't recognize anything His Father said? Christ said not to do that. Christ isn't in this post at all! Christ would never make fun of what His Father talked of.Agreed. Just another new twist to the "Let's pretend we're Hebrews" craze ... up to and including some in these clips bobbing their bodies (draped in their Made in China prayer shawls) like they were at the wailing wall itself. Priceless ... lol Did you happen to take notice of the stuffed animals set on each side of "the altar" ? ... lol These people are priceless. Absolutely priceless ... roflmho

I never encountered so many who hate Jews so much as to be hostile to those who embrace them as fellows in the Word, and who ´need Jesus Christ, Yeshua. Rather than loving their brethren and theirenemies, they look very strenuously for treasons to vilify and ridicule.
What happned to "love your enemies?" What happened to those hypocrites who claim to believe Paul's teachings on what is conscientous for an individual in the sight of God is not a sin as long as what they practice breaks no laws or commandments?
I will share with you what it is, and I do pray for them. Their opinions are as large as their egos, and their desire to be front and center outweighs any teachings from the Word, that is from Savlation. Shame on anyone who says loving the Jews and our Faith of Abraham heritage is anything less than honoring our Heaveny Father. Shame!
Read the Word and see how the shofar figures in our heritage of faith. Leave the children to their uinderstood manner of pleasing their Father. I do not expect anyone to apologize for this dark attitude, but should I see one forthcoming, it would be the brotherly thing to do.

Ouch. But you are correct RedTent. My post wasn't meant to edify somebody who thinks (and tells his congregation) that "he's just like Elijah" ... because one of his accomplice's told him that he was after his accomplice heard this audibly from God Himself. Consider for one minute exactly WHO it is that is looking for praise and adoration with such ridiculous claims as this ? Same goes for those today claiming to be apostles and prophets. These claims have nothing to do with worshipping Christ. Quite the contrary. Let him who wants to be greatest become the least. But is this what is seen in these circles today .... ANYWHERE ? No, it is not ... and for good reason. Because their humility is false humility ... just like their pretend stuffed sacrificial animals perched beside their pretend sacrificial altars. When you pray for somebody, do you pray as this shofar minister does when laying his hands on his followers and say .. "blow the trumpet in Zion" ? If not, why not ? It sounds so old testament, doesn't it ? Do you think that Christ was merely giving us all tips on winemaking when he said ..."nobody pours new wine into old wineskins lest they burst" ? Do you have any inkling at all what Jesus was saying about Himself and what He meant ? I hardly think so. So you, Jack and the rest of you nice OT folks can blow all the shofars you like. It remains true that it has nothing to do with Christ and His New Covenant.

I do not hate the Jews at all, just me sayin' for clarification. What I have seen with my own eyes is the abuse of what was a good instrument in its time & place. Maybe not everyone has seen what I have. I hope you haven't. What I saw in my church at the time was a tapering off in true spiritual worship & some members bringing in the shofar, flag waiving, & huge banners all around the walls to try to "bring back" what used to be. Instead of "bringing it back", they ended up "replacing" true worship with "shouting the victory marches", excitement, & a lot of vain hand clapping for a God they no longer obeyed in action, but in empty lip service.
I witnessed this church put on a falseface of victory all the while their children were getting pregnant, drinking, & doping up. They claimed their children were saved while these same kids were posting on Facebook their ungodly activities. The pastor's daughter, about 12-13 at the time, posted that Lady Gaga was her favorite singer. It made me sick that instead of keeping the faith, they were more interested in keeping up with appearances.
I don't think this should be about playing the blame game with the Jews. It should be about the church taking responsibility for its own sins. God's not gonna play that game on Judgement Day.
The customs is not the issue the issue your pointing out is lack of true righteousness in the spirit the worship is one part the other important part is prayer true prayer and many missing aspects that is being lost in recent years through lack of true knowledge ,I can
N tell you i can feel an overpowering in God's presence wherever i go but this is only because of my life with God , allways being watchfull of my conduct wether people are present or not , to be true in testimony to thyself being truthfull to God , a true testomony is important to feel his presence and believe it or not this influences others and the good fruits are multiplied therefore bringing in fullfillment every tree after its own kind , bringing yield to much fruit , a good fruit is produced by a good tree and bad fruit comes from a bad tree ... Its not much the worship style but the spiritual status ..

What could my post possibly have to do with your experiences. You are not the only person who has experienced assemblies filled with hypocrisy. What I have to say about those hating Jews is true, and stands. If you are personally affronted, I am only permitted to believe it is because you feel threatened by truth.
You are perfectly allowed to obey the teachings of the Master without the hypocritical assembly(ies) of which you speak; I know I do, as best is given me. Do not say "there are sinners in the congregation" using this as some excuse to condemn the entire assembly, for the tares are allowed to grow with the wheat until the harvest. Muscle up spriitually, and stop looking for sinners, or you will have no time to follow Yeshua, Jesus.

I have been sounding a Yemenite shofar for about 6 months now. I am in a group that sounds at conferences, bible studies, in homes, at courthouses, in hospitals, in parks, at malls and other places. I often times bring the kudu horn (48 inches) into grocery stores, coffee shops, my bank, restaurants or where ever. Often times people ask about it and then I talk about Jesus as well as tell them about it's use in the bible.
I am attending a Bible college and a classmate sounded a couple of times before class and the sound stirred me up greatly. Then one day he looked at me and asked me to join the watchmen. He actually said "you're a watchman" after having looked at me for a moment.
I love sounding the shofar. I practice daily.
The shofar is mentioned over 70 times in the bible. The power of the shofar is for today. This is a unique ministry that is a powerful tool for evangelism and a way to have people repent and return to God with a sincere heart.
Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face, who exult in your name all the day and in your righteousness are exalted. For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted. -Psalms 89:15-17 esv
The festal shout is the Hebrew word "teruah". H8643 teruah: a shout or blast of war, alarm, or joy. Teruah is used 36 times in the bible. With the majority of the occurances referencing the trumpet or shofar, such as at Jericho.
The kjv and nasb have the festal shout translated as "joyful noise" the niv uses the word "acclaim". (acclaim?) In sounding the trumpet it is interesting to see the vast range of responses. Many people do not react strongly-some amazingly do not seem to even hear it, a few people become angry or very upset and a small amount of people love the sound, some even getting goosebumps all over their body.
The anger is quite pointed at times, I have heard a few "shut ups" some words I can't say here and a week ago was told from an apartment balcony that if we kept it up he was going to get his .38 out. In these situations I simply say 'no weapon that forms against me will prosper' and continue sounding. God's word is powerful and people stop directing anger towards me each time I speak His word.
At some point - perhaps an appointed time, or a season - everyone that loves and serves Jesus should hear the trumpet / rams horn and know that sound, know it intimately, uniquely, it should reach into your inner being and cause a stirring.
I sound the trumpet only to glorify Jesus, to magnify my Lord and to pronounce Him as King of kings. I speak first of repentance to some people and God's grace towards others. When people who I have just met ask to hold the shofar or touch it - when I sound it they are stirred up. When I tell them about Jesus they listen intently. It is as though my Father has made it so simple for me that I can't mess up. When they ask to hold the shofar they are open to receiving the Gospel every time.
I only use the shofar as an instrument to magnify Jesus. There are so many ways to witness. I am amazed that I have been given this way to point people to The Way.

naw, I assume OP is just a guy who innocently wants to know what it was like to hold and make a noise with a shofar. Like I did at one point.
And it only costs him about $20 to find out (hopefully)
As far as the references to people using them in church services, I'd wager it's no worse than reciting the apostle's creed in monotone, or singing verses 1,3, and 4 of a hymn but dropping verse 2 because they don't have time or because it doesn't sound "as holy" as the other verses.
No worse than repeating the "Lord's prayer"...
