It is hard to write and edit replies, unless they are only a couple sentences,, when you are only given a window an inch high. Also, those sliding buttons on the side that cover up text make it very frustrating.

The BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER of the editing window has a corner you can DRAG downward, to expand the window.
 
Quite frequently I recommend writing a post in a standard word processing program, then copy and paste it to CC. It makes it considerably easier if writing a longer post to proofread etc prior to posting.

There is a button that says Go Advanced or you can press Alt+X and that takes your reply post to a larger screen with a little more then twice the viewing area.
