Polar Vortex 2014: Its so cold out that....

That reminds me of going through PA. They always have like a ton of traffic jams due to road work....so it's always (or seems to be when I've gone through) just so congested with traffic. Seems like it takes forever to get through the state.

The 405 in the vicinity of the Marina Fwy. I gotta agree with you Banana, I spent entirely too much of my life stuck in traffic on that freeway.
 
At least they're being polite. I've seen them jump out of cars and attack each other on the 5 freeway. I've seen them smash their cars and trucks into each other in a total rage on the 10 freeway. Lol. This actually looks peaceful to me.

Yeah we get a lot of traffic sometimes too.

Usually that's our wonderful PA Turnpike, it's horrible. We took that to NJ once what should have been a 7 to 8 hour trip was about 12 hours. I 79 and I 90 is much better.
 
It's so cold that I am going to lodge a complaint with the inventors of the Arctic Vortex.
 
It's so cold out..that if Polar Vortex was a dude I'd kick his......

well you know...I'd do something,not nice.
 
Yes, Oncefallen, that's the 405 Fwy for ya. It used to be a 2-hr commute between Santa Barbara & Orange County. Now, it's still a 2-hr commute after you spend 1 hr parked in L.A. waiting for traffic to move. The 101 isn't any better.

Yeah, AOK, it may have been a CA Sunday, LOL. Nonetheless, my CA commutes ended about 18 yrs ago.

Lol I hear ya though, The last time I went to S.F. about 14 yrs ago was because my buddy wanted me to drive us to the Grand Nat. Rodeo
I almost passed ...but I thought seeing George Strait would be worth it.
Afterward we ordered a Huge Pizza with everything on it.
Little did I know everything also included artichoke hearts, anchovies and Pine nuts. It probably would have been alright were it not for the Pine nuts.
I vowed to never go to S.F. again if I could help it.

BTW, those are 2-lane hwys separated by grass median covered in snow.

Yes but there's something interesting about a vortex that even It... obeys Gods mathematical laws.

I hear ya on the pine nuts. Also, anchovies are like so not cool.

BTW, that shore on the south side of the Golden Gate was not accessible to the public because back then... way back then... LOL, the entire area was part of Presidio, a military base; therefore, we kids never went down the rocks.

The terrain was pretty messy with large rocks and dangerous to be carrying a bike down. Now, it's a tourist attraction, but I still ain't going for a picture; not with that load of cars running on weed. :p

LOL! I went there once and took the Chinatown tour and got in a fight with a Chinese security guard that was mad at me because one of the Chinese youth pretended to shoot me from down the street and instead of putting my head down and walking away I pretended to shoot him right back. I ended up visiting the hospital off Fisherman's Wharf because my friend broke their toe and there was some black guy in there with a knife wound talking about how he got stabbed breaking up a fight and was a hero but the police had a very different story about the event... lol. Then the next day I went to Alcatraz and met Darwin Coon sitting at a table next to the bookstore and he told me how it really was back in the day there and signed one of his books for me. Lots of fun. I might go BACK! LOL!

My grandfather was stationed on that tiny Naval military base there during WWII and didn't have to go with a battle group to fight Japs. He lucked out. It's called Naval Station Treasure Island and it's the size of a postage stamp. I kid you not, it has to be the smallest U.S. naval base in the world. I thought the view of San Francisco at night from there was interesting with all the lights but then it was a clear night not a foggy one.

Lol, I read that he finally talked to the Lord in his isolation cell at Alcatraz.
 
He was interesting. He was an old convict through and through that much was obvious. He broke out of prisons and went on bank robbing sprees. He told me once he walked into a Las Vegas casino with a double barrel shotgun and let loose a volley over everyone's heads and then robbed the place. But then he told me he found his peace while reading the Bible and turning to God and went straight after that. I read he died a couple of years ago.
