I have reached the point in my procrastination (which for once wasn't entirely that, it's also reeeally difficult to get things done when there's a small child attached to you...) where the panic has set in.

Can't breathe.
...that could also be the dust, though...

PerSnickety, I'm much the same way (minus the Starbucks). There's a Christian girl I've just begun communicating with via email, on recommendation from a friend. She said that she enjoyed water-skiing and the beach in her spare time and this was my reply, saying what I did in my spare time:

I'm a bit more mellow, most of the time. I love to read fiction and non-fiction. I enjoy playing board games etc. with friends, having discussions about the Christian faith and life in general. I also love to watch movies and TV series and analyze them. I'm not one for partying. I prefer a small gathering of people I identify with and whose company I enjoy. In that environment, anything we do I find enjoyable.

For lil_christian :)

Banana Bread

In medium bowl combine...

1-1/2 c all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt

Make a well in the center and set aside.

In another bowl combine together...

1 egg
1 cup mashed bananas (about 3 medium)
3/4 c sugar
1/4 c cooking oil
1 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel (optional)

Once that is mixed together, pour all at once to dry mixture - pour in center well. Stir just till moistened (batter should be lumpy). Fold in nuts (1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans.

Spoon batter into greased (sides and bottom) pan.

Bake in 350 degree oven 50 to 55 minutes or until wooden toothpick (or knife) inserted near center comes out clean.

Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

Remove loaf from pan, cool on rack. Wrap and store overnight before slicing.

yes, abigailjeannie, amazing how God works. People can arrive out of nowhere to help us and be gone right after they do, or, unlike your 'water pump' answer, I believe, God had that old gentleman stay in my house a couple days because I was needing his kind of presence to move on from the rut of not working I was in at the time , age 23, and, was loafing and God sent an angel that I was unaware of being until after I tried to call him or get the address he gave me. Neither existed. We can choose to believe God works like that in our lives or not. Those who beileve, I believe, see and they seen the 'seen,' not just as Hebrews 11:1 says, the 'unseen.' :) I believe, I saw an angel and the words he said and the things that were just different that he said in these two days were just alarmingly, in a good way, different, and, inspiring and I did begin working again shortly after that time. I thank God, because my rut could have deepened, and, doesn't Scripture say, in so many words, 'Idle time is of The Devil.' ? :)

Greennnice, that is a porkchop with stuffing/dressing. I like mutton, goat too, but where I live you have to shop at a meat locker to get it. I shop for my groceries at stores such as HyVee or Fareway.

I don't eat alot of pork or beef. Mostly chicken and fish.

Thank you, Rachel. :)

Something else I make and share with my neighbors.

Has five different kinds of beans, hamburger, onions (and you could add potatoes) along with a blend of seasonings and things like ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, worcestershire sauce, a wee bit of brown sugar, salt and pepper. I like cooking with my crockpot. I use it alot. I have two - a large one and a smaller one.

Crock-pot? It looks like a Slow-cook. When you say you put in hamburger, do you mean just the meat patty or the whole thing?

There is a new store close to where I live, it's called ULTA it's a beauty store, makeup, they have a salon etc. I went in today for the first time. I don't wear a lot of make up, but I love that store. I love nail polish, I love lipstick. I love trying to new stuff, oh my gosh it was my Nirvana. Heaven help me!
Ulta was the only place that carried a specific hairbrush that I preferred back when I had the long hair. I had two initially; one for at home and one in the office. Then I'd misplace one, and go buy a replacement...and then a month or so later, the old one would turn up...lather rinse repeat. I have six of those brushes now, and I don't even need them. ^_^

I still visit Ulta, because they're the only place that I can find an exfoliating sponge I use to wash my face. I've been using these sponges since my acne-prone high school days, and now washing my face feels incomplete without them. Go figure. It's definitely a handy little shop.

crock pot/slow cook same thing. :)

You fry up the hamburger, so it is cooked first before adding the ingredients. When I fry the hamburger, I do the onions at the same time, cooking them together. I then drain and set aside.

I mix the beans, seasonings and the other ingredients together. Then combine both - hamburger and beans and put in crockpot and cook on low 5-6 hours.

Yummy absolutely yummy. :) Is good cold too on the next day after the flavors have blended together in the refrigerator.

Hope that helped. If you want the recipe, will dig out it to get the extra portions of each ingredient. I don't have it at the top of my head. Being blonde and old, memory just isn't as good as it once was. LOL

GreenNnice says: So, here's a nice bowl of 'Mallard Surprise' soup, not just broth, you get ALL the fixings in this, not just mallard, but also, Northern Pintail, American Black Duck, oh, yummy, all to sooth all that anger away you so strikingly display in your avatar :)

Yea I knew who Paula Deen was years ago when my mom used to watch the food channel all the time. There was also Nigela, Barefoot Contessa, Rachel Ray (before she got all famous), Iron Chef competition, and a bunch of others I can't think of now. I used to like watching it too.
My mom watched the food channel 24/7 in her last days :)

For you, Tintin,

I've made this so many times that I don't follow the recipe to the T. I do make sure everything is in the crockpot but I have varied the amounts of what I've used. As in how much or how little is used.

Original Recipe

2 cans pork n beans
2 cans butter beans
2 cans other type of beans (I use navy beans or kidney beans or pinto beans)

Drain the beans

1/4 c onion
1 c brown sugar (I don't use that much, more like 1/2 c)
3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
1/4 c ketchup
2 squirts of yellow mustard (I use a wee bit more than 2 squirts)

1 pound hamburger

Prepared hamburger with onion, drain. Stir in rest of ingredients. What I do is mix the beans together and set aside. Mix the other ingredient together and set aside and then once the hamburger and onion has been prepared and drained I mix everything together.

Cook on low for several hours. :)

And that folks, is all for today. Do believe I am going to call it a day online. Have a great evening/day, folks.

God bless.
