Katie's post in another thread made me wonder how many of us really like our names.

Do you? If you could change yours, what would it be?

I'm happy with my name. The nurse when I was born told my biological mom she should name me "Valentino" since I was a valentines baby. I just thank God she had good enough taste not to take that suggestion seriously :p

Ahh sesame street.. that took me back lol.

I don't mind my name, most people call me Phil, but it does annoy me when people spell Philip with 2 L's like this Phillip .

I have the most boring name ever.

In fact when PIXAR made the movie UP, they brainstormed what the most boring name is to give the Dog.

When King of Queens was in pre-pilot the writers came together and decided to give the main character the most forgettable name possible to fit the show's premise.

When I think about what other name I would want, I just feel thankful that my name is not something Exceptionally dumb like Caeden, Channer, Titum, Brooks, Tugger, or Colorado.

My name is Jennifer, I like it. But if my parents named something else, I think I would have liked, Kate, Zoe, Allison, Lauryn, Emily, Olivia (my daughter's name) Amelia or Lydia.

Only one in the united states with my name :) Tony Laurich

The only thing I dislike is that its an common nickname for 3 other names, so most people will end up lengthening my name... So that sucks...

Always got a kick when people found out I don't have a middle name... :)

I like my name. My name is Abbie Jean. Didn't like it when I was little and in grade school. I was teased and bullied alot. I kept to myself alot while growing up. Later, after I left home, I found out there weren't too many Abbies around. :) I am named after my paternal Dutch grandmother who was Anna Abbie. My dad picked out the names for all three of his daughters. Abbie Jean, Garnet Rae and Jessie Lea.

I wonder what would you all feel if your parents happened to be like the one who named their children... Macaroni 85, Spaghetti 88, Sincerely Yours 98.

Spaghetti who just gave birth last December named her baby son Cheese Pimiento, as she says the legend continues. Macaroni plans also to name his first born Windows XP, and Sincerely Yours plans to use the name Signature. Sounds fun!hehe

i don't mind monica. i have had the luxury of being the only monica in every school i was in, so i grew up without the dreaded "monica t" distinction. my middle name is marie, after my grandmother.

it's nice having a less common name and unusual last name. keeps things simple. as i mentioned in another thread, my dad wanted to name me kyle (regardless of whether i was a boy or girl). i probably would've been ok with that too.

a good name is a good name, regardless of it's origin, commonality or meaning. i think unusual names for obscurity's sake are just silly.

one thing i've never understood is how people pick out names for babies or animals without having met them first. i don't understand that. how you can actually be sure they "fit" their name if you don't know them yet?

Picking a name for your child is one of the hardest things ever. :)

I think family names are cool. My son was named after his grandfather, whose middle name was, fortunately, the same as my stepdad's first name. My son really likes his name, does not like to be called the shortened version thereof, and is NOT shy about telling people this. :)

I have mentioned before that my mom wanted to name me Sharon Rose (ack...gag...my apologies to anyone who might be reading this by that name, but it is definitely NOT me. :) ). My mom was heavily sedated, so the only good thing my biological dad ever did for me was name me. As many of you know, Jullianna is not my real name.

When I married I decided to use my adoptive last name as my middle name as a way of showing how much the adoption meant to me (none of that hyphening junk though :) ), and dropped having a middle name completely.

@ Liamson...I beg to differ with you my brother...I ,in fact have theeeeeee most boring name ever. "Jim" (technically- James)
Now that is yawnsville. I was always gutted when in church they'd discuss Bible names...how are names mean something.
So lame...supposedly "James" means supplanter. Not cool at all...kinda crappy actually.

My entire name is messed up...my middle name is insanely long,as well as my last name. People think I am in the Mafia.
Thank God,my Mom didn't go with Mario or Paul (because she was in love with Paul McCartney from the Beatles) so I got stuck with my Dad's name. Oh well.:p

Wow all this time I thought your stepdad was just your stepdad because he married your mom. I never knew you were adopted.

He married my mom and adopted me when I was six. :) As far as I'm concerned, HE will always be "Daddy" to me. :)

I like my name. I like writing it out and I like the nicknames from it (a lot of people call me Rach, and then there's Rackel- my bro calls me that). I can't even think of names I might "look" like or "seem like", though I think someone told me once I looked like I could be a Courtney or Elizabeth...

I like my middle name, too (Joy). I don't mind my last name, but I guess that doesn't matter because I hope to one day be married so then it will change anyway. :)

I suppose yer' right...but yanno what's really the most screwed up thing about my post? Where I say (how "are" names),instead of saying (how "our" names)...gotta love poor typing skills. Charming. lol:p maybe James means horrific grammar.
