Picking a name for your child is one of the hardest things ever.
I think family names are cool. My son was named after his grandfather, whose middle name was, fortunately, the same as my stepdad's first name. My son really likes his name, does not like to be called the shortened version thereof, and is NOT shy about telling people this.
I have mentioned before that my mom wanted to name me Sharon Rose (ack...gag...my apologies to anyone who might be reading this by that name, but it is definitely NOT me.
). My mom was heavily sedated, so the only good thing my biological dad ever did for me was name me. As many of you know, Jullianna is not my real name.
When I married I decided to use my adoptive last name as my middle name as a way of showing how much the adoption meant to me (none of that hyphening junk though
), and dropped having a middle name completely.
