Waht is that, kill them all and let God sort it all out?
No, its just our Professor and some Students will think they are SOOO clever and make up some half truth about Jesus, and then Yuk Yuk Yuk, laugh about it.

So I'll ask, is there a source for this or did you just pull this out of your nature's pocket?

Because This verse, this verse, this verse and this verse, say X. Or According to Irenaeus, or According to Josephus, or according to Acts...

Or they will talk about how inaccurate the bible is after being SO OLD. I'm like, do you have any clue what the Dead Sea Scrolls are?

Ugh. Sounds so annoying. I pity you.

Are there people of other religions in that class?

It's terrible to hear the opinions of people with half baked knowledge.

Well, there is other religions in the Classmates and I defend those as well. Like the Prof will say, "Holy Cow! lets talk about Hinduism." And I'll climb on him for that, cause its disrespectful.

But to be honest some of the worst damage comes from this girl who is like super charismatic or something, because she will say stuff like God told her stuff and she knows its true because a friend of hers was speaking in tongues and confirmed it.

She talks about Angels and Dreams She's had. I'm just like *cringe*

Wow Liamson, that's pretty rough. I honestly don't know if I could sit through all of that. It sounds extremely aggrivating

Just got back from Disney on ice. It was pretty awesome. Fireworks and everything. Pretty costumes, dudes flipping on ice, ugly step sister's. And Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. So much fun. Sometimes the stuff I do with my kids makes me feel like a kid again.

Confucius say, that would be called politically incorrect now.

it was always politically incorrect.

i've never understood why they would give an atheist, a guy who embodied "reject all religions" a class on world religion.

seems as appropriate as putting me in charge of teaching the auto shop classes...

Because he's the guy with the advanced degree in world religion, which is probably why he became an atheist in the first place. If you take someone who isn't firmly grounded in what the believe and cram a bunch of book knowledge about a ton of religions into their head they'll invariably end up believing nothing (atheist), or believing that all of them are equally valid (universalist).

Maybe see he has been, waiting for you to slay your own flesh
? Just maybe

2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
Colossians 2:15 and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
One should not speak about that which one does not know.

And yes, it's my one-thousandth post

i wonder if i am the only one who finds this site and its proliferation of various countries' flags as one long pop-quiz, challenging me to remember and identify all the (more obscure) country flags as you come across them?
I don't even try anymore :)

BUT...here's where we can cheat :) (Thanks RoboOp :) )

Your an introvert? Pshhhh. I'm a horrible people reader. I'd have never guessed
I'm very quiet natured, even shy at times, which surprises a lot of people, especially professionally. A lot of them have told me they expected me to be an aggressive *you know what*. I type a lot here and am very open because, as with many introverts, I'm far more comfortable writing my thoughts down than verbalizing them....unless I'm extremely comfortable with the company I'm keeping. :)

thanks, i have relented and looked up a couple that were vexing me. i actually enjoy seeing the wide variety of representation too.

you know, this reminds me of the backlash of easy reference-type tools.

i don't think kids are growing up even needing to learn how to spell. that bothers me. spell check is not spelling. i can't tell you how many presentations i sit through full of homophones switched and the like. i think spell check is partly to blame for that.

for example, i refuse to buy a calculator, because i know that the moment i do, i will probably stop figuring it myself.

my entire worldview will break if i forget things like math. : )

My training officer/former partner and his wife drove all the way up here to go to church and have lunch with me. :) Love them so much! :)

God surely sent him with a message. He said I needed to stop hiding from life and love. He said, "Life is gonna hurt you. You have never been a coward. Stop hiding and get back out there!"

It is time. Thank you, Lord.

@ Misty77 "Happy 1000th Post" (I'd throw confetti,but all I have is dust...sorry)

I am all kinds of exhausted. Waiting till right before bed to pack up the computer & phone stuff.
Then it's catch the bus at 6...try not to get lost or die in Boston, then on to NY. My goal is to be gone from there by March.

How is it only 4 pm & yet it feel sooooo late?

I just want it all to be over.

I wish we in the US were taught more about other countries than we are. I listen to others here and in chat, and they know so much more about us. I fear we are far too arrogant about this....or maybe just lazy. I do love to travel and am very interested in the culture of others, so this has been very helpful, especially on this site.

I feel this way about certain lost arts too. Things we may need one day if the power goes out: Sewing, cooking from scratch, gardening, basic construction and mechanics. Even the simple joys of life like crocheting and my gramma's dumpling recipe. :) We are losing so much, aren't we?

I loved geometry and calculus. Algebra and trig...not so much. :) These days I don't do math unless I'm getting paid for it. :D BUT I can make change if I have to the old fashion counting backwards way! :)

I was talking with a lady a few days ago who actually knows and uses shorthand. I remember my mom taking sermon notes in shorthand. I was amazed!

So many things are lost. Next will come our minds if we aren't careful.
