Unfortunately this stuff is not new news. I remember them teaching us stuff like this back when I was in Middle School (though grinding was not in the list because it had just begun to develop as a fad in our generation's culture.) Heh, I even remember when they brought in all the different types of contraceptives to show us what they are, how they work, etc. I always found it quite ironic that many of the contraceptives they showed us back in middle school and high school are now subject of lawsuits for causing health problems to the individual (ie: vaginal mesh implants.) I also found it quite curious they teach us these things every year, and instead of decreasing the rate at which teens have sex it kinda gave them a how-to guide. Heh, the article says something like only 40+% of high schoolers have engaged in sex in Kansas. Kansas must be a pretty modest state if that's true because I personally know that for my grade level the statistic is MUCH higher than that (my personal estimate be something of 70-80%), and especially the statistic of multiple partners is extremely high. I also know that the grades younger than mine (freshmen when I was a senior) were even more engaged in this stuff than even we were. The STD rate is also absurdly higher than people report. Though I suppose a reason why the official statistics are so low is probably because most people lie when asked.
Though to be fair, we did have an Abstinence Only teacher come in during two of the years in middle school, and I remember her to be the best well-reasoned. Ironically she was the one my friends' parents complained the most about because she showed us very gruesome pictures of the STDs (though I thought her "blunt and ugly truth" approach was sensible. Those pictures definantly made you think twice lol!)
Why is my generation the one that is so sexualized? It's hard to pin it on any one thing. The education system propagates it, the media actively promotes it (movie, music, tv, video games), modern "mental health" bullcrap promoting the do-what-feels-good culture, widespread social acceptance of sexual immorality of all types, parents won't talk about it or will encourage it, precedent set in the 1960s-1980s Generation (our parents), anti-virginity culture (being labelled a virgin = big time insult in my generation), the whole society dynamic as was pointed out with single parent households is probably a factor as well, parents giving their daughters birth control bills around age 12-13 thus giving them the license to have sex, access to the internet and thus all knowledge could be a factor, naturally magazines (especially Cosmo) promote it, Modern Western ideals of femininity and masculinity promote women to be sexy and men to be always seeking sex (for which there are other non-sex problems that arise also such as anorexia in girls and infidelity in men), and the list just keeps going and growing.
Even our politicians are actively spreading this stuff whether they are for or against it just by making it an issue (most of my grade learned about sex in the 3rd grade after Bill and Monica Affair, and thanks to the Bush most of my peers learned what gay was ironically because of his heavy 2000 campaigning which brought the issue of the abomination marriage to the forefront and made it a hot button political topic which since then has been a major political point every campaign from there on out.)
Heh, I don't know if this is how the generation of Noah was (I think they took it one step further by having sex with fallen angels.) It seems to me to resemble Ancient Greek and Roman culture moreso, except with spiffy new technology. Though I could see that as the generations (Boomer Hippies and Xers) that preceded mine was pretty over-sexualised and hedonistic and that brought forth a rise in divorce and sexual immorality to my generation to learn as kids, that the bastard (literally fatherless) generation that is being born right now is probably just a generational stone's throw away from the days of Noah. I am glad my older forefathers from the Greatest Generation will not have to suffer to see this, and I am very sorrowful that I will have to bear witness to it when I reach my older years if a natural lifespan is granted unto me. Sorry if this sounds rantish, I can see that it kind of is. Of all things though it is in my opinion one of the darkest and worst facets of my generation mostly because I can all ready see the beginning of the effects that it will have on the next generation which is being begat even now.
