True that.

I had to join just to take part in the discussions.

Edification of the downtrodden seems to be the kind of thing that should take place out in the open, so others might also be lifted up, or via PM. It seemed kind of silly to create a group where this can't take place out in the open. It's not offensive, or a bad example for young children, or anything to be ashamed of.

I would like to start a group for those that have gym memberships but don't use them. I hang my head in shame.

Hey, just remember that both the person who is absolutely ripped to shreds and the person with a few extra pounds on them are in shape. Round is also a shape.

Do not abandon the brotherhood! We must endure through the loss of our leaders!

Hmm... So I wonder how the ad is going to read for this... "Wanted: Unattractive, Overweight Single Male... To Lead a Group of Other Unattractive, Overweight Single Males..." Kind of like "Fight Club for the Under Secure?" (This is said as a joke only!)

*Aw guys, don't be so hard on yourselves! NONE of us are perfect... Give US a chance by taking the risk of talking to us! :)*

Alright, I'll join back up, but for the record I still think it's silly.

There is very little that could be said that can't be said on the regular forum, and now this group has no moderator since he's been banned. This could also go in the men's discussion subgroup as half of the guys who are driven to various types of sin have been driven there by lack of confidence. Or, like I said open forum.

What man wants to self identify as overweight and unattractive? You've got to find something about yourself you like and identify as that. It's all about confidence, confidence is key, you've just got to find it.

I want to say, just because you might carry some extra weight doesn't mean you're unattractive. I was always attracted to guys with a bit more of a stocky build. You can carry yourself well, dress decently, be clean, be kind, have a good attitude, all attractive traits.

Ummmm, I'm reading between the lines here and this is a group for people who intend to live in their parents basement--forever. Aren't there other groups one could join?

Yeah, I knew a woman who was attracted to fat bald guys. Not everyone wants the same thing. There is always hope as long as you don't abandon it.

Plenty of others.

I'm joining since it seems that there may be a few guys who want the support, but yeah I agree, whatever our shortcomings are we need to get over them or we're going to be stuck in neutral for the rest of our lives.

ok, i think the joking and camaraderie has been fun to read, but the concept behind this thread seems as relevant as:

Math is hard!!! Ladies only

i hate seeing anyone put a label on themselves that is a subjective, or even potentially temporary. if you guys want to identify yourselves as unattractive, i think that's somewhat like owning a label, or self-fulfilling prophesy.

and i'll also add that while i've gone out with "average" looking guys before, had one seriously referred to himself as unattractive, i might have believed him.

as to the overweight thing, if that's what is eating up your confidence (pun intended) then do a little something about it. anything to make yourself feel better. go for a walk. or cut back on the cheeseburgers. or be content in who you are, and stop using it as a means to describe yourself as unattractive.

whatever you use as a reason to describe yourself as such, let it go. we girls have seen it all. focus on your strong suit, and stop worrying about what you can't control.

while the OP may have been well-intended in starting this thread, it mostly reads to me as an insecure guy looking to boost his self esteem by associating with (attractive) women, or at least generating or leading a pep rally so that he can find the woman of his dreams and fill a void in one's life.

insecurity needs to be dealt with, not band-aided. and it has nothing to do with the opposite sex.
