The above photos have nothing to do with the right of law abiding citizens to be armed for self defense. The above photos are an example of what can happen when government has the guns. Do not trust a government which does not want its law abiding civilians to be armed. Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot all proved this.

I don't understand this obsession with guns.
I own several guns, but I will never use one against another human.
We say we believe in Jesus and He says we need not fear any one or any thing.
I have faced down drug dealers, armed robbers and even wild animals in the name of Jesus and no harm has come to me.
Do you believe or don't you?

Lord, I am glad these folks knew how to operate a gun. A sad fact is that a lot of folks don't know how to operate a gun. A burglar knows that most likely the person living in the home he is to "visit" aint got no clue whenever it comes to guns. If there is a gun hidden somewhere, rest assured nobody knows how to use it. I was raised in a rural area, and even there, none of my friends knew how to fire a gun. They didnt even know the difference between a pistol and a revolver... Well, I know somebody would say guns aint meant for a girl, but in my opinion it is. We dont have the strength men have, and there are few options to consider if we are unarmed.
Any person thinking of breaking in somewhere should know, that the chance of getting shot, will increase drastically whenever he has made it through that door he should have stayed away from. If somebody has to await state troopers, well, I am afraid the deeds done...
I dont know why somebody wants to ban guns, but I do know one thing - it is not a good sign.

Where I live I don't think of using a gun to defend myself against another human. Any defending I might need would be from a bear who decided he or she walking close to and staying close to our house is far more fearful to me then a human. Before any of you think I am being naive.......... I have driven the streets of Southeast Washington, DC all hours of the night for Property Management Maintenance and I spent most of my life living not far from the Nation's Capitol in the USA - where the crime rate has been high for I do not know how long. THERE I never even thought about owning or carrying a gun for protection of my person. Today the only gun we have is for putting meat in the freezer. Should the time ever come when it came to shooting a person I could not do it no matter what they were threatening to do to me. I stand with PlowMan on this one. I will trust God to take care of me.
Yes. I know innocent people possibly have lost their lives thinking like that but sin is not new; it has been here for a long time. Anyone who sets out with a gun to rob or harm an innocent person is sinning and God will deal with them, in my opinion.
I do believe the United States DOES in fact need to retain the right to bear arms as the forefathers wrote as the country was being formed.
If that right disappears everyone who hunts to put food on their table will lose that right too. Maybe they should rename it to The Right to Put Food on Our Table....................

There was a time in my life when I would have had trouble answering this question , debate.
Then one day my children were playing in our front yard, I was sittng on the porch, when a woman came running from between a wooded lot and house, she saw me and ran strait to me begging for help.
Her face was split open from her forehead down to the tip of her nose, the bone exsposed, she was also covered with many bruses and cuts.
I quickly sent my children up to their rooms and called 911.
As I tended to her injuries, prayed and tried to calm her she was in absolute fear her attacker would show at any moment.
I knew right then, that if the man came near our home I would not hesitate to use the gun we had then to protect her and my family.
I realised that she and we did not choose to be attacked, but this man had chosen to bring this attack upon her, and if he chose to persue further injury to her or my family I was responcible to protect them.
I know many will debate this decision, I would have as well at one time.
But once one is in the situation, one's choices are made clear, and to protect is made clear as well.
I am greatful that the man did not show, and soon police and medics arrived.
But just as we battle evil in prayer , scriputre, by faith in Jesus.
Sometimes we are called to protect against a physical threat with a physical responce as well.
I hope I will never have to use a gun to protect, and pray for this as well.
But I also know that if able, I will not allow any attacker to bring harm to the innocent.

I am not one of those who is radically one way or the other on this matter. The only thing that I am strongly against is assault weapons being in the hands of anyone and everyone. I feel that if a person wishes to have a gun for self protection or to hunt then they should be allowed to own them. However I feel that just as there needs to be a safety course before getting a drivers license, there should be a safety course before getting a permit to carry. It is way too easy to get a gun permit these days without any foreknowledge of the danger these weapons can hold. I do feel that there are those who are more vulnerable to attack and the need for protection..... HOWEVER I also feel that God knows our days...and no matter what we do ... or how much we are prepared ... protected...trained in self defense etc... when the time comes.... Our Time Is Over!~ That time will not come a moment too early or late. Therefore whatever is necessary to protect myself will be given to me at that time... God knows our needs before we do and our abilities come from him. There will always be someone out there who can out fox out power out maneuver you, and then what do you do? You come to the point where you Trust!

I and I still can't see myself using "deadly" force. But if it were my kids/family that were in danger, I honestly think that might be a different story. I just pray that I don't ever have to make that decision. May God find favor on us and protect us daily and keep us faithful and dependent on Him!

Hi Kimmie, I'd just like to build on that. I'm not arguing the point here, just adding info. A lot of people (myself included) have been confused as to what an "assault weapon" actually is. It turns out, many "assault weapons" are used for hunting, and in many cases there is no major distinction between a regular hunting rifle and an assault weapon.
First of all, we are NOT talking about the assault RIFLE. Assault rifle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Assault rifles are effectively banned in America. You can own one after going through a long process, but they are very very expensive. So expensive no criminal with a basic grasp of economics would try to get one to use in a crime. Most criminals use handguns to commit their crimes.
Next, the "assault weapon" classification is vague, and can vary from state to state. Here is a good example of what I'm talking about:
So it's not that I object to your point, I think you have an excellent point about people needing training before being allowed to carry. I just cringe every time I hear "Assault weapon", because the legislators have turned it into a festival of anti-logic. Here's one more for the road:
There is no practical difference between the two weapons, except for the fact that the lower one is probably more accurate, due to the longer barrel. But the upper one looks frightening compared to the classic hunting rifle look of the lower one, therefore they slap the "assault weapon" distinction onto it.
