Are there movies out there that everyone else seems to love, but are total groaners to you?

Mine: Princess Bride and The Sound of Music
I called in to a morning show once when they were talking about how wonderful The Sound of Music was and how much everyone loved it. There is apparently something terribly wrong with me for hating that movie so much.

Avatar: Everyone around me went gaga over it and I believe, it even won many Oscar awards. My brother bought the DVD and gave it to me to watch with high recommendation but I just couldn't stand the blue face and the alien looks. So, didn't watch it but last year maybe in July or August (can't recall), my niece came over and finally made me watch it (under pressure) with her. I still don't like it.
Other than that, I can't bear to watch any movie with alien character, animation, cartoon and movies starring Russell Crowe, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Van Diesel, Jackie Chan and Sandra Bullock.

The Notebook was a horrifyingly awful movie. The ending's implausibility would have been acceptable were it not for the banal story-line, the twisted views of sexuality, and the fact the old characters looked nothing like they were when they were younger.
Of course, knowing Nicholas Sparks, they were probably physically disfigured in a mud slide or something along those lines.

Avatar was awful. The only reason people seem to like it is because of James Cameron, the man I'll also credit with ruining the Alien franchise. But yes, he's on some sort of "look at me, I'm like Ernest Hemingway, Walt Disney, and Neil Armstrong combined" kick, and people are buying in left and right. It isn't the art itself they prize so much as this new, enlightened image.
The actors you mentioned are good, but they go too big and showed a serious lack of wisdom in choosing their roles. Jackie Chan is the one I can't abide the most.
He had so much potential and he is off making movies like 1911, which I watched twice the other night hoping it would make for a good historical ride...nope.Before he went off making Communist propaganda, he should have at least watched Battleship Potemkin which was well-done Communist propaganda.

You have a point there but the reason I cannot bear to watch movies starring these actors are a little bit different. I have not watched any of their movies full length except Sandra Bullock's "the proposal" but even in this movie, I would have preferred much if another actress had starred in it. For the other male actors, I have no proper valid reason (I am still yet to figure it out myself). It partially maybe because I kept seeing my brothers watched their movies all the time and got fed up of them, or maybe because I don't like extreme action movies, or maybe just their looks and the way they act in a certain way (regardless of how good an actor they may be), I don't know.

Cracks me up a little to see so many people hating on The Sound of Music. I always preferred Mary Martin's more distinct voice to Julie Andrews' familiar clarity and diction, and it was a bit of a shame that the studio chose Andrews since she was a familiar face on the screen. (IIRC, Martin premiered the role on stage.)
It's relatively well known in Hollywood circles that Andrews and Christopher Plummer hated doing the film, and agreed to do it because they were suited to the task and money. Plummer hated it to the point that on set, he stopped reffering to the project by the play's actual name and instead referred to it as The Sound of Mucus.
