Welcome to the adult world:

The place where sleep is a myth. No mercy is shown. It's a dog-eat-dog world and unless you have a 140+ IQ you have nothing special to offer. When you haven't even graduated from high school and you're finding yourself completely broke and may or may not end up in so much debt. Where coffee and God are your only comforts.

Good. Luck.

I need to settle down when I watch TV shows. I'm currently watching a season of 24 on Netflix, and I gasp and cover my mouth with my hand, clap my hands if something good happens, exclaim ("Ahhh!! No!! Stop, STOP!!"), and sometimes I realize that I've been holding my breath, but I only realize it after an intense scene has ended and I have to take a few extra gulps of air.

Ya gotta love this whole idea of "affordable" health care. I spent some time researching health insurance for myself and my soon to be wife primarily because she has serious long term health issues. She currently qualifies for Medicaid since she is incapable of working and her sole income is a short term disability policy, but once we are married she will no longer qualify since my income will be taken into account and there is no way we could afford her health care out of pocket. Her meds alone cost over $600 per month.

So, I found out that "affordable" health care for her alone will cost about $375/month plus an annual deductible of $6,000 ($500/month). Sooooo, according to the US government via the Affordable Health Care Act an average of almost $900 (just shy of half my monthly income) per month for medical insurance is "affordable". Oh wait, I forgot it's another $375/month for me to get insurance too so it would be over $1,200/ month as long as I never incur any medical costs beyond just the premium.

By the way, that premium is AFTER the tax credit!!!

So, Obamacare was supposed to make health care affordable so that people wouldn't be forced into bankruptcy due to medical bills beyond their ability to pay, yet it leaves huge numbers of people with chronic health issues still going bankrupt in spite of having insurance.

No, I'm not looking to start a debate, just venting my frustration with the very broken healthcare system here in the US.

There was a show on TV tonight about Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding and the whole skating debacle that happened 20 years ago. I can't believe that was 20 years ago! It was interesting to watch.

Feeling so stressed out right now. I just got news that my dad will have to pay $800 taxes because he apparently makes more than enough according to the IRS, when we had thought he was actually getting like $1200 in return. The funny, not so funny thing is, we barely scrape by, and I even have to help my parents with some bills now that I got a job. We were counting on that money for other expenses. When I thought things were finally getting better. Oh well, give the Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar....

Sorry to hear that, Karla. :( That happened to me once too (thought I was going to get a refund but ended up owing). It wasn't as bad for me though because I didn't have a family to support. At least we can trust that God will always provide us with what we need.

Yeah,it's not fun. But you're right on the last sentence. I need to trust God. Thank you Mr. G :)

I felt the same way when I watched 24 the first time around. That show was awesome. Rarely do I find myself yelling at the tv,or getting all stressed out during a show, but 24 kept you on the edge of yer' seat pretty consistently.
