Women are not called to preach. The office of a pastor or a bishop is only to be filled by a man who qualifies for that office.
1 Corinthians 14:32-37 KJV
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. [33] For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. [34] Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. [35] And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. [36] What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? [37] If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
1 Timothy 2:9-15 KJV
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; [10] But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. [11] Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. [12] But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. [13] For Adam was first formed, then Eve. [14] And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. [15] Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
1 Timothy 3:1-13 KJV
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. [2] A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; [3] Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; [4] One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; [5] (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) [6] Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. [7] Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. [8] Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; [9] Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. [10] And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. [11] Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. [12] Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. [13] For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Funny that the little word BISHOP trips so many up, nowhere in the Greek does that word even remotely come close to being translated into the word Pastor.
In fact, if we want split a frog hair 4 ways, the word PASTOR is not found anywhere in the Bible. The word Pastors is found in the Bible and it is used a total of 8x, 7x in the Book of Jeremiah and 1x in the Epistle of Ephesians.
The Greek word for Pastors is
poimēn, which means:
a herdsman, esp. a shepherd
Further study shows us that a Poimen was a shepherd in the Near East was responsible for watching out for enemies trying to attack the sheep, defending the sheep from attackers, healing the wounded and sick sheep, finding and saving lost or trapped sheep, loving them, and sharing their lives and to earn their trust.
So if you really want to age war on the female being pastors or not lets also wage war on the title of Pastor given to men. Why are men called Pastors? The Bible never says a man should be called a Pastor, it just states he has given us Pastors.
Gal 3 says there is neither male nor female, we are one in Christ. The Bible says that Jesus is the head of the church and Jesus said in John 10.11 he is what?
[SUP]11 [/SUP]I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Guess what fellas, the word shepherd in the greek and used in John 10.11 is what? it's:
poimēn
SO this means Jesus Christ is the shepherd or the Pastor of the Church!
SO this means that even men should not be using the Title Pastor, because the Bible says that Jesus is the head of the Church and we are the Body and Jesus said in Red he is:
[SUP]11 [/SUP]I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Or better we could say that Jesus said:
[SUP]11 [/SUP]I am the good PASTOR: the good PASTOR giveth his life for the sheep.
So men are also in error for calling themselves Pastor, I mean if we are going to be literal, let;s be literal, and if we are not going to take in account historical or cultural things in account for Paul's discourse in 1 Cor 14, I see lots of men calling themselves something they should not, nor could ever fill. Christ is the head of a church, not a male calling himself a Pastor.
Now that we have that out of the way, lets move on to what the word Bishop means in the Greek Bishop means:
investigation, inspection, visitation and oversight
WHAT you say? Yeah the meaning of bishop is a very far cry and very distinct than poimen which means : a herdsman, esp. a shepherd
Further study says that a Bishop is charged with: overseership, office, charge, the office of an elder, which means they are the overseer or presiding officers of a Christian church. This does not anywhere suggest they preach/teach.
If you would stop sticking to denominational dogma/doctrine and study out the Bishops under Paul, it might suprise you to learn they were not sent to evangelize or preach/teach, they were troubleshooters sent to fix issues in the church.
So Jesus Christ is the Poimen, the shepherd, the pastor of the church, and in HIM there is neither male nor female.....
