Do you think Pope Francis is the false prophet? He is 76 years old and if so, that means Jesus will likely return in the next 20 years at most since he will be 96 by then. Are we knocking on the door of the tribulation?

I think that we spend too much time trying to identify the anti-Christ and false prophet and whore of Babylon. We should be more focused on being like Christ, knowing His word so that we can discern from the many false prophets and anti-Christs in the world today, evangelize and reach our mission field (which is either your very own neighborhood or other lands where the Lord leads) and, yes, discerning the times, but not with the focus on who the anti-Christ and false prophet are. We know they are coming and nothing we can do will change that. Rather, we should be about the Father's business and, yes, read and understand Revelation, but not to identify a specific person. I believe, personally, that no one will know his identity on this earth until after the rapture of the church, so why waste time on speculation?

.......ok, so when Jesus said no man knows the hour.........He was lying?.........sigh........

Since Pentecost Christians have believed they were living in the "end times." And, in a way, they were, are correct, for surely each day that passes IS one day nearer to the return of Christ, BUT NO MAN KNOWS WHEN THAT WILL BE. Anyone who says they do are not of Christ in my opinion.

False Prophet = 50-50% chance. I do believe he is the last pope
Jesus return = 10 years
Tribulation Period = within 3-5 years

OK, I am not Catholic. I am Coptic Orthodox. However, it is so inappropriate to accuse a righteous man who is a Pope saying he's a false prophet. The man is REALLY a good person who always talks about love and he has lots of beautiful actions. ALSO, the bible clearly says that NO ONE knows or will know when Jesus is gonna return. So NO ONE can even assume it or calculate it even roughly. So let's just not waste our time talking nonsense and judging others by being false prophets.

I think this pope is a good man, and what he has said trumps all the religious leaders of the day, bar none.

I am a dyed in the wool Baptist, but I read my Bible like it matters, and he is the only one I hear saying to help the poor, the sick and the lost. In fact, I have given up on internet and TV preachers totally, because they are preying on people, and their weak desires and making themselves the center of the gospel instead of Christ.

Pope Francis is humble. He doesn't use the Vatican palace or the pope mobile. He worked on the front lines with the poverty stricken for years in Argentina.

Really, this whole thing about the Catholic Church comes from an erroneous interpretation of Revelation, which was popular in the 18th century.

Look around at secular people, who have done so much more harm than good. In every country. Those are the anti-Christs.

Finally, read Misty's post again. Christ called us to be his disciples, to grow in maturity and make disciples. All this hype about end times is just nonsense. The end has been predicted by so many cults it is ridiculous. It scares people away from Christ, and it is NOT what God has called us to do.

Just sad that people cannot read the words of the Old Testament, Christ and the epistles, and see that Revelation is a vision that does not matter what it means, if we are obeying God. And that means caring for the poor, the sick those in prison and sharing the gospel. Or did you forget to read the following:

"Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. [SUP]35 [/SUP]For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, [SUP]36 [/SUP]I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’[SUP]37 [/SUP]Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? [SUP]38 [/SUP]And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? [SUP]39 [/SUP]And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ [SUP]40 [/SUP]And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[SUP][f][/SUP] you did it to me.’[SUP]41 [/SUP]“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. [SUP]42 [/SUP]For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, [SUP]43 [/SUP]I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ [SUP]44 [/SUP]Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ [SUP]45 [/SUP]Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ [SUP]46 [/SUP]And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matt 25:34-46

This is Christ speaking, are you obeying him, or imagining what might be the scenario at the end of time? I pray that I am listening to this important speech by Jesus, who announced his ministry in the synagogue by saying:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
[SUP]19 [/SUP]to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Luke 4:18-19 from Isa. 61:1

No one is going to be with Jesus based on their accurate guesses of the fulfillment of end time prophecies from what I can see in the Bible. Instead, work on following Jesus and you won't have to worry what is happening in the world or the what the doomsday prophets are saying. There works will find them out.

No.

The false prophet will be a Republican Politician in the United States. Probably the next president. He will be very anti-homosexual and anti-abortion. All the right wing Christians will love him.

David, the reason Christians oppose homosexuality is because it goes against the original righteous creation and intended will of God. The world is fallen away from God, including our nature, and all are ensnared in varying states of sin; for some that is homosexual attraction, for others it is lusting after the opposite sex, for others it is pride. Jesus said we must deny ourselves and the desires of the flesh, take up our cross daily, and walk the narrow path to the kingdom of God. Homosexuality is a result of the fall, as are all attractions, fetishes, or natures that deviate from the original perfect creation/design. That is why we all must take up our cross daily and fight the flesh, and we are bound to fall from time to time (I am not one to talk as I have fallen just recently). As for abortion, in many instances it is an easy fix for the consequences of premarital intimacy, at least that has been the case with some of my family members. I say this because you seem to be bitter towards these issues. Trust me, I was too. I used to be very liberal, but God has taught me. We must seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

............seriously?..............so you know more than Jesus? And, apparently you don't believe Jesus/God is against the homosexual lifestyle, and is perfectly happy with the abortion mills operating in this world?

Goodness...........

How long is an HOUR?? 60 minutes?? 3,600 seconds?? Of course we cannot know to the hour when the Lord will return.

You seem to be implying we aren't supposed to even know the season, like Christ doesn't want us paying attention to world events and prophesy. I hear so many Christians make this argument - that we shouldn't be trying to figure out if we are in the end times or that the AntiChrist is near or the identity. This is hogwash!!!

We are absolutely supposed to be watching. Revelation is written specifically to warn us of things to come.

Jesus commands us in Mat 24:

[SUP]32 [/SUP]Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

[SUP]33 [/SUP]So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
[SUP]34 [/SUP]Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

If Jesus commands us to learn something, we had better learn it. Jesus also commands us to watch in Mat 25:

[SUP]13 [/SUP]Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Paul gives the same command in 1 Thes 5:

[SUP]2 [/SUP]For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

[SUP]3 [/SUP]For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Pope Francis may very well be the False Prophet of Rev 13 and 20. False Prophet simply means False Teacher, teaching things contrary to the Word of God.

There are many things that point to Pope Francis possibly being the False Prophet, not the least of which is the timing. He fits perfectly into generation of the fig tree - being 70 years since Israel became a state. Pope Francis and Obama are singing the same tune about economic equality and tolerance of Gay Rights even at the expense of Religious Freedom.

Pope Francis came into office on 3/13/13. The number 13 represents evil, we all know this. The conclave for Pope Francis was very short, beginning on 3/12/13 and ending a day later with his election as the first Jesuit Pope. 3/12/13 was the first day of a new lunar cycle. Prophesy given in months (42 months - Rev 13:5) usually deals with Satan or evil.

"This generation shall not pass..." most likely refers to Israel becoming a state. A generation is 70 years (Psalm 90). Thus Christ could return by 2018. If we take the start of Pope Francis rule of 3/12/13 and add 42 months we come to August 8, 2016. This leaves just over 2 years for the AntiChrist to reign and have the Lord return around the Feast of Trumpets 2018. Remember, "those days will be shortened and unless those days were shorten no flesh would be left alive."

Why are American presidents and Popes perfect targets for the beast or false prophet?
