Made ya look!! :p

So many people seem to feel misunderstood, helpless and alone, especially Singles. I wonder whether people could refrain from being judgmental and just...listen. Hear them out. I pray that you can. I pray that this can be a safe zone. Just this once. Please. Be kind. Be loving. Let people speak from the heart. If you feel the need to bash/criticize someone on this thread, just do this:

1. Take a deep breath
2. Pray for them instead

So...How would you finish this sentence: "If you really knew me, _______________"

Maybe I should start :)

If you really knew me, you would know that:

I try to look for the good in people and often, to my own detriment, ignore things I shouldn't.

Negativity really annoys me.

That I feel as if my life compass is a little off right now, so I'm standing still.

I have trouble saying "no" to people when I know I should.

That I've begun to question my own judgment.

So you're a reader? My wife and I have hundreds of books, and I have gotten rid of hundreds more.. :)

IYRKM, people would wonder where all the books would have been stored...

+on most days, i feel like king kong and am ready to take on the world. but then i have days that i'd rather run away and get lost, figuratively and literally. sometimes the weight of my responsibilities makes me feel like i'm on the edge of hives and hyperventilation.

+my family drama is almost too painful for me to even talk about. i can't fix it. so i pray and keep some distance.

+while i'm seldom "alone", i have moments of deep loneliness. even in a room of friends. even worse, i'm afraid that i'll just settle for AverageNiceGuy, just because i'm tired.

+i feel like i've lost some of my unabashed optimism. i miss it.

+sometimes when i stop to think about it, i never feel like i'm doing enough or being enough, and that i've given away too many opportunities and wasted my "chances".

+on occasion, i am terribly afraid that my life won't get any better than this, and that all my "good days" are behind me. at least in this lifetime.

If you really knew me

- You would see just how shy I am.

- Just how nervous I get around 'new' people.

- I avoid letting people in because it hurts when they leave.

- I wish there was at least one person I could call a best friend but she died in 2008.

- I get lonely often, but I hide it.

- I'm a bookworm.

- I wish to be an author someday.

- I love cooking even if I don't do it often.

- I am an open minded free spirited person who you can talk to about ANYTHING.

- I always try to see the best in people.

If you really knew me... you'd know that:

- I really like climbing trees and am unashamed of my cartwheeling abilities. I like to run down the super market aisles with a shopping trolley and then jump on to the handle bars with my feet up, going at dangerous speeds towards food stands (Haven't knocked over anything yet... yet)

- I'm no good at loud arguments. If someone starts raising their voice at me I withdraw inside myself and quietly process what they are saying. People tend to wait for me to start shouting back at them only to get annoyed because I'm not responding the way they want me to respond. Usually, once all is said and done, I walk away and quietly beat my head in with what they've said and try to mend myself so I can come back to them all 'fixed'.

- I can't keep still. I haven't been to the cinemas or have sat down and watched an entire movie in a long time. I always have to get up and do something or I'll start fidgeting and wriggling like a mad woman.

- These days, I am perhaps a bit too honest. I concluded I was so sick of dishonesty and lies that I would swing to the opposite spectrum and be ridiculously honest and open to people. Now, I find myself praying for wisdom and discernment because lets face it, not everyone needs to know my life story.

- Every now and then, (usually when things in life are looking down) I would spontaneously pack my bags and spend my weekends travelling somewhere new. Usually I would drive 1.5-2 hours away to a quiet location with mountains sceneries and places to hike. I would do this every third or fourth weekend if I wasn't saving up to travel overseas, but so far have done this every two months.

If you really knew me you'd know...

- I am a dichotomy (Edited to add: and the next 4 items accentuate that). Sometimes I'm hard to impress, but (most of the time) I'm far too easily amused. I trust fast on some levels, but struggle with trusting on others. I hate being late, but I usually am not quite on time.

- I am more fragile than most people realize but stronger than most people know

- I can switch from silly to serious *likethat* or vice versa

- Sometimes I am too chill for my own good. I go with the flow. Things that maybe should bother me don't, really. I'm also not usually afraid to speak what's on my mind or heart

- I am very non-judgmental. I can put myself in just about anyone's shoes, even those who are considered "scum". Doesn't mean I agree with them, just means I try to see them for their story, not the moment. This can be a good thing and bad thing as I can sometimes be easily taken advantage of.

- I can't stand drama. I know some people say "Oh, I hate drama!" but in reality, they love it. I'm the type that actually loathes it.

- I think that BREAKFAST FOOD IS THE BEST STUFF EVER

If you really knew me you would know I'm so nice. I get easily intimidated. I am more of a listener. I like friends gathering in small groups to have more in depth conversation. Monica, I also stay away from my family drama n' Arlene, I also don't like going to the movies as I can't sit still for a long time. I like to be active all the time. I'd rather listen to something while moving around instead of sitting in front of the TV. I'm a morning person. I love activities related to nature such as zip-line.

Haha, I agree just_monicat, I could see us getting along just fine.

I could especially relate to that King Kong versus the run and hide point you made. Some days, there will be an impossible situation before me, and I've got my fists scrunched up, ready for the fight, there's a twinkle in my eye and I just can't wait to see how God takes this situation and owns it.

Other days, a situation of the same magnitude is before me, and just trying to fathom what is happening is creating a concaving like effect in my brain meats, trying to search for my sanity proves draining, and I just want to run away and live in a tree house somewhere in the mountain ranges with a pet red panda named 'To-to' and an infinite supply of peanut butter.

If you really knew me, you'd know that...

- I'm never happy with myself, because good enough is never good enough, professionally or spiritually.

- despite the joy I've found in Christ, I still have a pretty deep pessimist/fatalist streak. As Lloyd Dobler once said, 'If you start out depressed, everything comes as kind of a pleasant surprise.' In a way, it allows me to see every positive aspect of my life as a blessing.

- I am always in doubt, which is really why I have no choice but to have faith.

Dangit bro, fatalistic was my word of the day.

I'm also the same way. It's the darker side of having a high drive for success.

If you got to know me, you'd know I'm a tempest in a teacup sometimes. When that fatalism kicks in and the optimism is running dry, it can be quite the bumpy ride. Then a few days later I realize how foolish I'd been in not trusting God.

If you really knew me...

you would know that getting involved in music saved my life.

I love coffee and chocolate. Together or separate, it does not matter.

I'm not as confident as you think I am.

I get the "Winter Blues" really easy.

I love action movies and sci-fi. Avengers, Indiana Jones, Star Wars....just as long as they're not incredibly crude. :)

Sometimes, you REALLY don't want to go near me when I'm upset.

I'm socially awkward and it takes a while for me to adjust to a new environment.

Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks! I don't like it when it gets in my teeth, though. Ouch.

I do love me some good kettle corn but cheddar used to be my favorite. Well, I guess it still is even though I can't have it.
