Psalm 59 was beautiful today!

"But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy." ... Psalm 59:16-17

Psalms 51:10-12

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Psalms 62:5-8

5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Psalms 143:10

Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

Some wonderful words.

I can hardly think of a more moving part of Scripture than where David expresses his repentance in Psalm 51.

Blessings.

When I read or hear this verse I always think of Luke 10:38-42 about Mary and Martha.
Yes, waiting quietly on the Lord, feeding on His Word and in prayerful communion with Him, is so essential. We can sometimes be so busy - like Martha - in legitimate service that we can forget personal communion with Him, right?

My wife and I have the Psalm 46 verse displayed in our house.

Blessings.

Psalm 65:5-13 NKJV

By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us,
O God of our salvation,
You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth,
And of the far-off seas;
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Who established the mountains by His strength,
Being clothed with power;
[SUP]7 [/SUP]You who still the noise of the seas,
The noise of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs;
You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice.

[SUP]9 [/SUP]You visit the earth and water it,
You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water;
You provide their grain,
For so You have prepared it.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]You water its ridges abundantly,
You settle its furrows;
You make it soft with showers,
You bless its growth.

[SUP]11 [/SUP]You crown the year with Your goodness,
And Your paths drip with abundance.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]They drop on the pastures of the wilderness,
And the little hills rejoice on every side.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys also are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, they also sing.

Yes very much so. I had a hard time a while back with just being still and resting with God. That verse and Luke 10 helped me understand a lot.
And I'm thankful for the brother here on CC who showed me Luke 10.

It's really good to set the Psalms to music.

The original Psalms were intended for singing anyway.

In the context of the roaring and raging in Psalm 46, the peace of God is very precious. Links in with John 14.1 & John 14.27 also.

Blessings.

34 Wait for the Lord and keep his way,
and he will exalt you to inherit the land;
you will look on when the wicked are cut off.
35 I have seen a wicked, ruthless man,
spreading himself like a green laurel tree.
36 But he passed away, and behold, he was no more;
though I sought him, he could not be found.
37 Mark the blameless and behold the upright,
for there is a future for the man of peace.
38 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed;
the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

PS: Did you ever hear Allegri's Miserere? it's a choir piece based on Psalm 51. It's really good.

There are versions in English and Latin.

I particularly appreciate verse 11: the Lord is Alpha and Omega, and is in control from the beginning of the year to the end, in His mercy and goodness.

Blessings.

A little similar to the Beatitudes ('Blessed...') in Matthew, don't you think?

Blessings.
Yeah, and what is amazing it was Christ saying it was coming his death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and delivering of the Holy Ghost so we will be filled with the Beatitudes
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
After the cross , when one believes God does this in them, even if one fails, nothing makes void what Christ has done

Romans 4:2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God.

David is described in 2 Samuel 23.1 as 'the sweet Psalmist of Israel'.

Good Morning all and God bless,

"Music of the Bible Revealed" are Psalms set to music. You can find it on youTube if you wish. They are in the Hebrew and also captioned in English. The actual melodies I believe from the aleph-bet. Enjoy.

Yes, it's good to store the Word of God in our hearts, and the Psalms seem to be especially suitable and strengthening, often.

Blessings.

Although, the book of Psalm is my favorite, this scripture is a good one for me right now. I talk to God throughout my day, but I don't spend enough time listening for what He wants to speak into my spirit. I have to be washing dishes or playing an online game and that does not even qualify as my full attention. This is something I will work on. Thanks for sharing this page with me.
