Psalms 103:4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Psalms 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Psalms 103:6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

Psalms 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
Psalms 103:15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
Psalms 103:16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
Psalms 103:17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
Psalms 103:18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
Psalms 103:19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
Psalms 103:20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
Psalms 103:21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
Psalms 103:22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

Romans 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
Romans 15:2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
Romans 15:3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

46: 'God is our refuge and strength'. The hymn 'A mighty fortress is our God' by Luther is based on Psalm 46!

Blessings.

Psalm 139:1-12. I tend to despair over circumstances but God always upholds me.

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
3 You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
5 You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
9 If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.

Ms. AprilJ: A searching Psalm, with 'searching' literally an operating word!

Psalm 110 has clear, Messianic content: 'The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand...'

David by the Spirit calls Jesus Lord.

Psalm 23 will always be my anthem

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever. Amen

It's truly a wonderful Psalm that has brought peace and comfort to so many over the centuries; and very effective when it is tied in with the passage about the Good Shepherd giving His life for the sheep in John 10.

Blessings.

[h=3]Psalm 1[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

[h=3]Psalm 1[/h][SUP]1 [/SUP]Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]But his delight is in the law of the Lord;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

[SUP]4 [/SUP]The ungodly are not so:
but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous:
but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

...
PS: It's interesting to remember that David, the king of Israel, had himself been a shepherd.

Hebrews 13 speaks of the Lord Jesus as the 'great shepherd of the sheep',

Psalm 1

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

Psalm 1

[SUP]1 [/SUP]Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]But his delight is in the law of the Lord;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

How it all begins...!

What a wonderfully varied book of the Bible is the Psalms! the highs, the lows, the extremes of emotion, the joys, the disappointments, the sense of simple trust in the Lord.

I have heard preaching comparing the 'Blessed' of Psalm 1 with the Beatitudes of Matthew.

PS: Tiasmiles24: You know there are several tunes to which the metrical version of Psalm 23 is sometimes sung; the most famous tune is Crimond, but there are various others.

Blessings.

One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 62. I put together the video below using Aaron Keyes performance of his rendition of Psalm 62.

The very word 'Hallelujah' means 'Praise the Lord'...
