Girls seem to start before the boys. My Daughter and her friends already talk about crushes, they're in first grade. I tell her all the time that boys just don't think that way right now and they have strange ways of showing you that they think you're cute. I wish they wouldn't even think about it yet.
I can't remember having crushes as a little girl, except for my rollerskates. :) Now there's only Peyton Manning, Joey Votto and Jack Bauer. :D

They start young, don't they? :) When my son was in kindergarten a little girl grabbed him and kissed him behind the coatrack. Scary, huh? :)
I bet what would've been more scary is if we had been there to see the fire in your eyes, LOL!!!:p

I don't remember ever having crushes either, and as far as I know my kids never did. I wonder if society doesn't encourage this though. When my kids were little I would always cringe when someone jokingly asked them if so-and-so was their boyfriend, or if they had a boyfriend. Sure, it's cute when they are 5yo... (or not), but what does that teach them?

I had a crush on Donny Osmond and Shawn Cassidy, both of which were way to old for me. In 1st grade I wouldn't wear anything but purple because Donny Osmond loved purple, at least that's what my Mom tell's me. Also she said I'd try to mail him letters every day with green stamps and the mail man would bring them to the door. I was a first grade stalker.

My daughter has a crush on this Moshi Monster called Zach Binsniff, he looks a bit like Justin Beiber and he lives in a garbage bin. She also likes another Moshi Monster called Dustbin Beaver. He lives in a dustbin.

I don’t know how much it has to do with the topic, more about what the topic has evolved into, but it reminds me of this poem by Shel Silverstein called “Masks”:

She had blue skin.
And so did he.
He kept it hid.
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through,
Then passed right by…
And never knew.

I must admit, I don’t like saying there are people out of my league because I’m trying not to believe in such a thing, but I do sometimes think, “Pffft, I’d have no chance with that guy.” But believing in leagues perpetuates the idea. Maybe it’s like the poem above, where two people could be great for each other, but because of perceived outwards appearances, neither approach the other. I know that's not the main point of the poem, but it's one angle you could take.

I love Shel Silverstein Rachel. Have you ever read The Giving Tree? That's one of my kids favorite books, such a good story with a great message.

Interesting...so what does the blue skin refer to? (pardon my ignorance.)

Blessings.

Hmmm...interesting

How did these never find their way into our home when I was growing up?
Maybe you remember these instead, 'cause these are older. ;)*snicker*:p
