For the most part, I agree with you. We are all new creations because of the salvation Jesus' death and resurrection offer. But that salvation doesn't mean we just sit on our keisters and do nothing, all the while saying "I love God, I love my neighbor." You actually do things to show it. That's where obedience to God's commands comes into play. And the obedience to God's commands doesn't negate salvation by grace unless you intend it to do so.

I don't understand how you can be saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, be born again of the Spirit, and go back to working at the law by your flesh and think that is obedience.

Unless you don't read or understand the NT at all. Even then you should still have some sort of understanding of being dead to the law and alive to Christ.

Romans 7:4-6
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Isn't that christianity 101?

Are we blessed by the Lord Jesus Christ and then double blessed by our own obedience to the ministry of condemnation written on stones? Seems extremely contradictory to me.

Gal 4:10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

Referring to elements of the world..

xmas, Ishtar, Ramadan, weeping for Tammuz (the forty days of lent), the year of the cat. The weak and beggardly things of the elements of the world.

I don't understand how you can claim to be "saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, be born again of the Spirit," and deny the Commandments of God...

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

After all, Jesus said...

Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Paul said he served the Law of God...

Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Christ said if you love Him you would keep the Commandments...

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

The love of God is keeping the Commandments...

1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Paul agrees...

Rom 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

He says here that loving your neighbor is the summation of the Commandments.

Oh wait, maybe I do understand...

Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

You're married, right? Did you stop doing acts of love after your wedding day?
Why not? You were already married. Why do anything else?

Instead of picking and choosing (proof texting) Gal 4, let's really read it...

Gal 4:1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
Gal 4:2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
Gal 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

What were they in bondage to? The Law of God? No the elements of the world.

Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

It does not say to redeem them FROM the Law, it says to redeem them who were under the Law. Those who were under the death penalty for breaking the Law...

Rom 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Rom 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

The problem is not the Law, it sin...

1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Gal 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Gal 4:8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

When they did not know God they did service to false gods that were not God.

Gal 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

And what were they in bondage to and turning back to?

Gal 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world

Galatians is to Christians who were turning back to follow what the jews did, the law and judaism.

Weak and beggarly elements. The law and things like circumcision and observing festivals.

Romans 8:2-4
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
[SUP]4 [/SUP]That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Your solution to sin is to do away with the Law. Christ's solution was to die in our place to pay the penalty for us for breaking the Law. Which one is a fact of history?

I haven't done away with the law. Not one jot or one tittle has been done away. I'm just not under it, to follow it after my strength and flesh, because I have been saved and shown the Way by the Lord Jesus Christ.

I don't have a solution to sin. The Lord Jesus has the solution. I trust in Him. Not in my work at the law.

Thats the thing. I don't deny the commandments of God. I'm just telling you that your flesh is not keeping commandments. Your flesh taking saturday off isn't keeping any commandments. Your flesh observing the feasts isn't keeping any commandments. Your flesh managing to not kill anyone, isn't keeping any commandments.

The Holy Spirit is the only thing that keeps commandments. The only way we even come close to obedience to God is by being led by the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit that perfects us.

The law does nothing except bring you sin consciousness. Showing you your need of Jesus. Not to just be forgiven but to Overcome.

Philippians 4:4-8
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

When did John say he wasn't keeping the commandments through the Spirit? Where did he allude to keeping in only through the flesh?

I'm so glad of this thread. I'm more convinced the Sabbath is important than ever. I had fought against it for a long time until I gave in in my spirit and since then I and many Sabbath keepers are being accused of in the flesh so must be doing something right. Praise Yahweh!

It's great you quoted Romans 10. It's greater if you read the whole context where Paul quoted from Deuteronomy 30:11-14 where said the law is not difficult.
If one truly understand freedom, one would not condemn those who choose to abide the law.
USA is a land of free (relatively) if one abides the law of USA. If one breaks any of the law, he'll be judged and punished.
Christians are free if we continue to abide His law. If one breaks any, the blood of His Son has paid and will pay for any penalty. The question is, shall we continue to sin that grace may abound?

It will never change for the LAW people.
They always assume the children of the promise are law breakers.
Libertines if you will.
Anyone who is born of the Spirit knows to live in sin is bondage.
Freedom in Christ is power in the Spirit to walk in newness of life.

What is one supposed to think of people who want to do away with the Law?

From the NKJV...

1Jn 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

Mat 13:41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,

The Sabbath is here again just like it has been every 7th day since the beginning. Hope all that observe 7th day Sabbath have a blessed day in it. Have a peaceful Sabbath. Jesus told us to pray that our flight is not in winter or on the Sabbath, and i pray this for those that honor and keep His day Holy.

Are you asking who does not like law? I suppose it is those who like to break law. No one is completely sinless, how well I know. Though I am not perfectly walking the way of Messiah, I thank God for instructions for which I am to strive for. I thank God for the Sabbath!!! I love the Sabbath, that one is easy. It also is full of blessing!!:) I can hardly wait, it is almost here!

Happy Sabbath to you brother. I will pray with you, and also for those who truly want to keep Sabbath and haven't found a way to be able yet. may God have mercy and open the way for them. I know some have families to support, and it is not a Sabbath Rest friendly world. That will change one day soon, and we all will keep Sabbath just as the LORD intended.

Clearly you magnify the letter of the law obove the cross of Christ.

You preach a different gospel and you are in great danger.

Galaitians 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and thelife which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

Galatians 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

Galatians 5:9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

It's odd that you would claim (albeit falsely) that he magnifies the letter of the law above the law of Christ, by referencing a post where he cites Christ talking about those who practice lawlessness.

This is always the reaction of a person who is stuck under law. Falsley accusing others of the practice of lawlesness.
I am only going by what John832 continually posts and judging from his reactions to what I post it is obvious he doesn't believe the same gospel.

Guess there's much confusion with the meaning of curse of the law and the works of the law.
The curse of the law is when one breaks the law he's to bear the consequence spoken through Moses by Yahweh in Deuteronomy 28 which once and for all fell on the Lamb.
The Works of the law is what's required to compensate for sins committed. In the OT was animal sacrifice which was the type of and was made completed by the Lamb.

Well, you're certainly welcome to your opinion I suppose.
