I just hit the 'report' button on a chat PM on accident. Hopefully they are still not functioning yet. But it made me think, that there was no option to prevent it from sending if you hit it on accident. Perhaps a 'are you sure [yes] [no]' box pop up would be beneficial to prevent accidents like this from happening.

I agree. Or maybe at least a submenu that pops up once the button is interacted with that allows you to either report post or report user. Youd have to confirm your choice in the same manner making it significantly harder to report by accident

Well you have to have the PM active and able for them to see at the time you send it. It would do no good to report a user after the fact, because without the evidence, the report would be cast aside. Reporting a post, or a user, is essentially reporting the same thing, if you do it properly.

Wait are you telling me that this site doesn't keep its own logs and that something has to be seen and reported at the exact time or else nobody looks into it? That would make me pretty disappointed.

I don't remember saying that at all.

But why would you wait to report something? Anything such a bother that is worthy to be reported should be done right away. Otherwise you're just leaving it for others to see.
They do have records, but that doesn't mean they want to have to go digging through records because someone couldn't take a few seconds to report a problem. You need to have the time, date, room, names, etc... then send them shuffling through hours of information, or you can just do it right then and send them a report of them problem as it happens. Typically if you complain about any behavior on this site and can't support it they will ignore the complaint.
Sometimes it's best to just read what is said, not read INTO what is said.

When the report button is pushed, there is a box where you can write down some information about the "abuse" that you are reporting. It would be a good idea to write down the person's name, post #, name of thread, etc.

The thread is about the report function in the PM box in chat which is not yet functional, not the report function in the forums which is functional.

Well - today I had an incident with a manipulative person who entered my PM with so called Honorable intentions "Can you pray for me?" So when I said sure, he responded with "Yeah you'll just pray and then leave and forget all about me" so the conversation started with me trying to be encouraging but both firm, after a few times closing the chat, it got to a point where I actually felt uncomfortable since he started about, the "LOVE" aspect in a marriage, and how he just wants to be hugged. Now this is a Married man, and I'm a Married woman. I then told him I am not comfortable discussing this and I suggest he chats to a brother. Then I finally hit ignore because it was just not working for me.

1. There is no longer a report button, so that doesn't help me.
2. I can only copy and paste line per line, or do snippets per segment (screen grab) and that is totally painful.

How do we report this without facts, surely CC should have logs on any PM's if we provide the time and date and suspect-user?

The report button was removed because it did not function. It will be put back up once that function works.

We feel your pain since even the Mods /Admin have to do the same thing when logging reports. Unfortunately this new chat program is a work in progress and with funding having been extremely low the past few months RoboOp has had to turn his efforts towards project outside of CC in order to properly support his family so the process of making chat fully functional is taking longer than we would like.
