Mine?

Genesis. The foundation for everything - God's plan for mankind. Creation to Joseph (the beginning of human history). Great!
Job is a close second. The incredibly raw and honest struggle Job has with God, his 'friends' and others is strangely encouraging in the dark patches of life.
 
Proverbs. I try to read at least one chapter a day. It teaches wisdom and understanding and how to deal with other people and different situations.
 
So the story goes that I always used to tell people they should read the Bible but they might want to avoid the boring books like Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Then God convicted me and told me it was not ok for me to call them boring when I hadn't even read them myself. So i worked my way through Deuteronomy (and have read through Leviticus too) and I have to admit that now I love Deuteronomy. If you want to discover God's heart behind the law, that's the book to read.
 
Im not a huge fan of the old testament bunch of laws and genealogies at least in the beginning. Favorite two would probably also be Job and Genesis though.
 
Two fun facts on the OT:
Without the Old Testament, there would be no New Testiment

The apostles and Jesus taught from the Old Testament.
 
I think it's interesting that so many of us like Job. My grandmother can't stand it. She hates reading through the accusations of his "friends". I like it because it is so poetic in describing God. Sure the "friend's" stupidity and his wife's foolishness make me mad, but just love reading:
Job 4:
17 Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
 
I love all of them, especially the Story of Christ of course. But for old testament i love Joseph but more, I love Esther. Not because it is a woman, but because she stands for the Church in my heart. I love Mordecai also because He reminds me of the Holy Spirit. Esther picked her battle wisely, She was teachable, beautiful yet didn't use that part more, but her inner beauty more. I love how Mordecai didn't clap for Haman and feed his pride. I love how Haman's own bitter jealousy hung himself. This teaches a ton of why we should keep forgiving because it will hang US. I just love the story and we can learn a lot from old testament examples in situations that we all will come into contact eventually. The new testament shows us how to get the power from Christ to react to them all. We must be ready to stand...but more, we must get ready to kneel... that's why i love Esther.
 
Psalms - I like the range of emotions, the honesty, and yet the psalmist seems to always be looking towards God.

Job – I love the last chapters, from around 36 until the end. I think many people seem to take from it “If God takes away He will give you so much more”, that really isn’t the lesson there. That is not a guarantee. I love those chapters because of the way God describes His creation and His rule. It amazes me, and puts me in my place.
 
i reallly love all the poetic books, especially ecclesiastes and proverbs, but my favorite OT book is probably daniel. it's somewhat of a sentimental favorite because i studied it during a time in my life that i really needed to learn about sanctification and what it means to be "set apart" from the world.

daniel fascinates me as a character and OT hero.

i find it so remarkably relevant for today.
