I believe in what Jesus and the Apostles taught, not what Calvin taught.
Well apparently you don't believe what Jesus and the Apostles Taught as WORKS for salvation is not it....I could care less what Calvin taught...

So which are you....

Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Jehovah Witness, Pentecostal, Assembly of God, Anglican, Mormon, Free Will Baptist, General Baptist, Presbyterian, Seventh Day Adventist etc???

So which are you?

I am not part of a denomination, I am a follower of Jesus Christ ( Christian ). They did not teach you had to work for salvation, but they did teach one could lose their salvation. That is where I come from as well and tell others. Confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and repent of your sins. Salvation is yours, but now just like the Apostles and the early church taught be on guard as to the way to walk for if you then come to reject Jesus you can come to lose that salvation.

So how many times have you lost your salvation and what did you do to get it back?

and

Which Church do you go to?

I personal have not lost my salvation, and I plan on never losing it. That however does not say that some can or have not lost it do to their actions as shown by Jesus in Matthew 25 ( the scripture of the scene in front of the judgment seat ). Which is why I teach how one should walk as Jesus and the apostles did. With the encouragement of what Jesus did for us to be forgiven and that if you should ever fall away you can repent and come back. This was taught in the early church for 1500 years.

So how many times have you lost your salvation and what did you do to get it back?

The church of believers....the true church the bible speaks of, not a building with a name on it.

I have worship and bible studies with 4 or more people every week at my house depending on who all shows up. We live out in the country where houses are a mile or more away from each other, so its hard to get to a city for church. I then hold it here so those close by have somewhere to go.

Matthew 18:20 " For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. "

So how many times have you lost your salvation and what did you do to get it back?

Which Church do you go to?

So Abraham wasn't saved when God called him out of Ur, or before making it into the land past numerous violent Kings, or when?

Abraham HAD FAITH BEFORE CIRCUMCISION and the posts that you use to try and teach works for salvation have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACT OF BEING SAVED.....
You speak so much yet know so little God did not save us to be puppets but to grow in the stature of Christ. So you are this instantly made perfect creature with God holy spirit dwelling in you does not sin ,cannot sin, no need for Christ as an advocate. You have it all but I have a hope...
[h=3]1 Thessalonians 5:7-9[/h]King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]7 [/SUP]For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

[SUP]9 [/SUP]For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Faith
[h=3]Hebrews 11:1-2[/h]King James Version (KJV)

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For by it the elders obtained a good report.

[h=3]Hebrews 11:1-2[/h]New International Version (NIV)
[h=3]Faith in Action[/h]11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for[SUP](A)[/SUP] and assurance about what we do not see.[SUP](B)[/SUP] [SUP]2 [/SUP]This is what the ancients were commended for.[SUP](C)[/SUP]

Love
[h=3]John 15:9-11[/h]King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]9 [/SUP]As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

[SUP]11 [/SUP]These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Hope
1 Peter 1
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

more hope

[h=3]Romans 8:24-25[/h]King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]24 [/SUP]For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
[SUP]25 [/SUP]But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue;
and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance;
and to temperance patience;
and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness;
and to brotherly kindness charity.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You claim to know Greek...go study the AORIST TENSE VERB as applied unto John 3:16 and then pay particular note the the bolded in your statement as both comments are false and contrary to the bible as...

1. My salvation is based entirely upon the completed work of Christ
2. My salvation is based upon biblical belief into NUMBER 1

You really should get on your knees and get right and trust into the SAVING FAITH OF JESUS and TRUST HIM instead of your works and misrepresentations of scripture!
This is what you have failed to show in all of your posts. Christ's work was for mankind, the world. He saved the world from death and sin. It is His Work that makes your personal salvation possible. You are so far from understanding scripture, even as many times in this entire thread you have no understanding between what Christ did for the world, and what man's response to that Gift. Yes, you are required to believe that Christ saved you and all men from death and sin. But that faith justifies one, puts one into a correct relationship. Justification is NOT salvation.

Simply believing is no different than the faith/belief of Satan. He clearly understands that he has lost the battle, and will lose the war as well.

John 3:16 has conditions attached to that belief. It does not convey faith/only, nor salvation finitely attained at belief. As I stated before, you may know Greek, but knowing Greek does not help in understanding the theology of scripture, which is quite obvious.
I never claimed to know Greek. The Church knew Greek in the beginning and universally for 900 years, yet nothing, theologically that you have been espousing has ever been taught or even spoken of prior to the Reformation.
Historically, your idea of instant salvation is actually based on Anselms theory of atonement. But it was both Luther who adopted it within his own particular interpretation along with the "faith only" theory. Calvin also adopted the Anselmian theory but addedd the "penal" aspect to it, but never believed in faith only because for him it was predestined. Faith was really just a trigger, but did nothing for man, or by man.
Consequently, all protestant denominations have acquired many variations of these teachings along with another, Original Sin. These are all historical facts that are working against your view.

To teach salvation based upon your own works is heretical!....

1. NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, BUT ACCORDING TO HIS MERCY HAS HE SAVED US
2. IN THE GRACE YOU ARE, HAVING BEEN SAVED OUT OF FAITH, NOT OF WORKS LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST
3. IF YOU BELIEVE WITH YOUR MIND AND CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH....THOU SHALT BE SAVED!
4. Galatians chapters 1, 3--->Faith plus works =false heretical doctrine with no ability to save!
5. Romans 8:1 NO CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST---LAST PART OF VERSE ADDED AND NOT IN ORIGINAL TEXT
6. DAVID AND ABRAHAM--->DESCRIBE ACURATELY THAT GRACE AND SALVATION AND RIGHTEOUSNESS IMPUTED UNTO MAN WITHOUT THE DEEDS OF THE LAW<----WORKS
7. NUMEROUS SCRIPTURES THAT POINT ONLY TO FAITH (BELIEF) FOR TOTAL SALVATION

I hope you unbelievers have enough works and that your works exceed the PHARISEES in righteousness and that you are not 1 work short.....NO HOPE OR ASSURANCE IN WORKS!
Let me repeat what I just said in another post on this forum:

Salvation means freedom from the discipline of the Lord. When we repent of our sin, there is no further need for the Lord to discipline us.

Faith --> justification = (positional) righteousness --> salvation --> obedience of faith

Yes, the salvation we have received (past tense) starts with faith,
continues in obedience of faith, and glorifies us at the resurrection by faith.

It is by faith from first to last (Ro 1:17).

Amen! From beginning (have been saved through faith - Ephesians 2:8) to end (end of your faith--the salvation of your souls - 1 Peter 1:9) salvation is through faith and is not by works. Faith is the root and good works are the fruit of salvation.

!
Do you believe the Bible?

if you believe you shall be saved

problem your JEsuit definition of BELIEVE will kill you

the devils believe and tremble and they WILL not be saved
the devils confessed JEsus was the Lord
and they will not be saved

so what is wrong with your
devilish philosophy

the devils did exactly what you said

they believe and the confessed and they wILL not be saved

you are wrong

Your philosphy is the Jesuit false gospel that has been infiltrated into all the churches for the last seventy years to change protestentism back to catholicism

the Bible discounts you

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

you have to DO them by grace

you are saved by faith and then you have to CONTINUE in grace

the continue message has been eliminated by JEsuit liars and infiltraters

are you JEsuit?
if not you just got hpnotized by them and dont know it.

SeeBelieve doesnt mean that yo think it is true that is Jesuit hypnosis

believe means : to DO to CONTINUE IN to be so SURE you follow it to put everything into it and to do every word!

that is the real belief not your false garbage.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

The devils also GIVE CREDIT
and do

the devils BELIEVE but they dont REALLY BELIEVE

christians believe but most dont really believe

you have to believe unto salvation

the man said it well
Lord I believe but help mine unbelief

so there is a degree of believe

you really have to believe 100%

telling me you Belief in JEsus and refuese to do the commandments brings this to mind

Why are you in the military when JEsus says to love your brother?

you dont really believe

and saying the only way to be saved is to make sure you dont keep the commandments, is
well
insane

The NT was not written in Hebrew.

In the Greek, "believe" and "obey" are the same word.

Those who have true faith, rather than counterfeit faith, obey.

True faith is a bi-component of "belief + obedience."

Only the first component saves, but it always exists with the second,
or it is not true faith and does not save.

that is the real belief not your false garbage.[/QUOTE]
