Many people on this forum, who claim to be true Christians, and claim their politics are truly Christian continuously rebel against God's Commands and God's direct instruction. Here is why:

Romans 13
King James Version (KJV)

13 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

I wonder if this sounds familiar:
"If you like your policy, you can keep your policy." -Barack Obama
That was a lie from our "great leader". I understand the importance of praying for our leaders and I understand that God put him (Obama) in leadership for a reason. However, I am NOT going to believe every word that falls out of that man's mouth and when he (Obama) lies I'm going to point it out so other people are NOT led astray.

I cannot speak about the Pope, as I don't usually pay attention to the catholic scene. However, I am sure he (the Pope) has lied at some point or committed a sin , being a man and not God.

I hope and pray for these people, that they repent of sins, get baptized (full immersion, not sprinkle) in Jesus' name, and do their best to follow God's word.

We are commanded to submit to authority, but that doesn't mean to stand by your leader if they are corrupt. I don't hate Obama. I don't wish ill on him, but there are things he has done that has been disappointing. As a Christian I will obey his authority as long as it doesn't conflict with Gods law.
No government leader is perfect. They are human and will make mistakes, but we should never put full trust in man made government. We need to put it in God, and pray that God will guide our leaders.

Obama is NOT head of state here, the pope is NOT head of my church,
but even if they were, I would have enough scripture ready to back up my 'rebellion' against them,
certainly against the bishop of Rome.

So please, spare me your lame 'exegesis' of Romans 13.

I will always oppose fascists, Nazis and corrupt evil social conservatives who seek to target the week. [sic]
Sociopaths are like 5% of the population, but 25% of upper management. These are people who seek out to hurt people.
Or I don't know. So many here express their admiration for Putin and admire his masculine leadership (aka Brutal Communist Dictator).

Nah, rogue states like the USA who invaded Iraq have zero respect or right.

What happened to being subject to higher powers, David? Why do you resist the ordinance of God, David? You are a hypocrite who twists the Bible to support your political agenda. Disgusting.

When nations turn their backs on God there will be consequences. Judgement will fall upon the US. Unfortunately since their roots reach throughout the world, the ripple effect will be horrific. With all of the tragedies suffered by Israel, the States would be foolish to think they are safe. Sometimes God allows us to fall flat on our backs because then we have no other option but to look up. So yes, I do believe Obama has been strategically placed in the Whitehouse by God. Sorry nieghbour just calling it like I see it. I know we will be close behind.

The anti Christ is not a lot more powerful than any one man visible now. Chances are either he or his representatives are pulling the puppet string of certain people around the world.

This thread about lying.

But way to go, for finding a way to attack me ad hominem.

It's good distraction from whatever sin you seem to feel guilty about.

Considering Romans was written during the days of the Roman empire ( mid to late AD 50's most likely) and the author later was executed for his faith by the government, I'd say it is pretty hard to make the argument that these commands apply only to good rulers.

This thread about lying.
But it's fine for you to call American Conservatives racist gun nuts?

Also, if it's only about lying, why did you put verses 7 & 8 in bold? Verse 9 would have summed things up just fine, if you were just talking about bearing false witness.

By the way, for the record, I do believe it's wrong to lie about Obama or The Pope. I just can't believe you think you have any kind of moral high ground to criticize.

Christians are NOT ordered by God to obey every law that any government makes no matter how wicked, evil, ungodly, or in violation of God's own morality and law.

This book, clearly explains Romans 13 in context with the rest of scripture:

ROMANS 13: THE TRUE MEANING OF SUBMISSION: Timothy Baldwin, Chuck Baldwin: 9781462870189: Amazon.com: Books

The material aggregate of bible scholars corresponds with Kaiser, W. C., Jr., Davids, P. H., Bruce, F. F., & Brauch, M. T. stating the following:

"In summary, Paul’s argument is this: It is God’s intent that human life in the context of community will be life in harmony and peace and order (see Rom 12:10, 18). Since life in community becomes chaotic and anarchistic without the presence of regulatory laws enforced by authorities, the presence of these are part of God’s overall intent for human existence. Therefore, insofar as the state and its rulers exercise their authority in keeping with God’s intent, they act as God’s ministers for the common good of society.

If, however, the authority of the state runs counter to this divine intent, then that authority should not be understood as God-given. In fact, it becomes quite clear from Revelation 13 and 18, as well as other places in the New Testament, that the state which persecutes Christians, which dispenses injustice instead of justice, which supports moral decay, which tramples on the weak and powerless, has been usurped by demonic powers and forces diametrically opposed to God’s intents and purposes."

Kaiser, W. C., Jr., Davids, P. H., Bruce, F. F., & Brauch, M. T. (1996). Hard sayings of the Bible (575). Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity.

Thank you. Brilliantly posted! This individual can't make a post without displaying his hatred toward Christians.

On the point of obama, In America, WE ARE GOVERNED BY THE CONSTITUTION, not men. Politicians swear ON THE BIBLE to uphold the Constitution. I could cite a myriad of times obama has broken this vow. The only reason he hasn't been impeached 3 or 4 times over already is the corrupt media, and fear of being called a racist by true racists. I don't simply disagree with his policies, but also believe he is a seriously wicked man, and we as a nation will pay the price for electing a wicked man.
