Are you angry at the stance which encourages us to perform good works in order to be saved?
I didn't get that at all from the op...just love for Jesus. Do you come here to quarrel?

Hello sir. Here are the hints, highlighted in bold green.

Have we all thrown the cross aside, do we no longer need the work of the cross. Shall we speak Hebrew and hold the feast as our salvation. Should get wet to be saved? does anybody still hold true to the cross or are we so caught up in our own works that we disregard the cross and no longer have need of it. I am just bewildered at the boastfulness of self righteousness.

We are nothing with out the cross and the work thereon. No matter how smart we are, no matter how religious we are. I am nothing with out Christ He is everything to me. I am thankful for what I have and would have nothing without Christ. He is my rock, my strong and mighty tower, my fortress, my deliverer and the solid rock on witch I stand.

Is there any faith or at least respect left in the body of Christ for the work of the cross.

In the bible discussion forum, there are at least 3 threads which contain many pages of vibrant debate, both sides arguing over the importance of good works. Anyone who frequents these debate threads should quickly pick up the message.

You have also debated with Cassian, Seabass, and Jabberjaw, so you should have noticed as well.

I understand but isn't it best to assume the best? What if Jesus went around throwing a stick thru your spokes?...you'd be on your face a lot. Whatever any underlying motive was in the op, the cross was proclaimed and that is a good thing. Is the OP your enemy?

Nothing about Our Lord Jesus Christ makes sense at first.

My King should die for me... ??? That's backwards of the way we think. We should lay our lives down for our King. That makes more sense.

My Saviour has already done everything that is needed for my Salvation... ??? That's backwards of the way we think. We must be pleasing to God by our good works, that would make more sense.

By the power of the enemy the Lord is crucified at the cross. And that is a win for Christ... ??? That is completely backwards of the way we think. The winner is the one that kills would make more sense to us.

All of these things that don't make sense at first are absolute Truth and Power for Christians. We definitely didn't come to these conclusions by our philosophy and logic. All of this goes against the philosophy and logic of men. I imagine almost everything of God is like that, a complete surprise to us.

I wish there were words that I could use to express my gratefulness to the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has done on the Cross and Afterward. Everything that I say and do and think seems to fall so so short.

I disagree sir. Everything we say and do in this life matters. If we are truly grateful for Christs sacrifice, then all the honor we pay him afterward, however dim or useless it may seem, will be noted by him and the angels in Heaven.

Genesis 1:27
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Psalms 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

We are made in Gods image and likeness. Surely we are not as useless as we think we are?

I am very thankful that Jesus shed his blood for the remission of my sins but I am more thankful that he did not remain in the grave and that because he was raised, I have the assurance that I too will be raised to eternal life.

1 Cor. 6:14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

1 Cor. 15:17,19,20 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins . . . If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

2 Cor. 4:14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jeus, and shall present us with you.

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

1 Thess. 1:10 And to wait for his son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Thank you Father for the hope we have through your Son, in Jesus name - Amen.

I've often considered that the way we are commanded to do battle is in he opposite. The worlds way is to break kill and destroy...we are to love those who seek to break kill and destroy. If a man asks for your tunic.....etc.

1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain:
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown.

2. O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
has a wondrous attraction for me;
for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above
to bear it to dark Calvary.
(Refrain)

3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
a wondrous beauty I see,
for 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
to pardon and sanctify me.
(Refrain)

4. To that old rugged cross I will ever be true,
its shame and reproach gladly bear;
then he'll call me some day to my home far away,
where his glory forever I'll share.
(Refrain)

If one does not obey Christ when Christ said to beleive, Jn 8:24; repent, Lk 13:3,5; confess, Mt 10:32,33; be baptized, Mk 16:16 then one is rejecting what Christ did on the cross.

Lk 6:46 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"

Heb 2:9 Christ died on the cross for every man but every man will not be saved for every man will not do the things Christ said, will not obey Christ, Heb 5:9

From the OP: " Should get wet to be saved?"

The thread is obviously an attack on the biblical necessity of water baptism in being saved.

From the OP: "
are we so caught up in our own works we disregard the cross and no longer have need of it. I am just bewildered at the boastfulness of self righteousness"

Typical strawman argument against the bible teaching that one must "work righteousness" to be saved.

You and I are not gonna agree so we are gonna have to agree to disagree. Now get off of here and go DO something so your salvation will be secure. I'm gonna go practice my contemporary songs for worship this weekend and I'm going to do them perfectly so that I can be saved. :)

The Cross symbolizes Pure Love
God sent His only Son
To die on it for us
So that we can be saved
And to be with Him one day

The Cross signifies the Pure Love
That Jesus has for God
And to everyone on this earth
To honor His Father's wishes
To come to this earth
To teach the Truth about God

As Satan is loose on this earth
Trying his utmost to destroy God's children
Jesus came to reveal Satan and his doings
And to take up all our sins on His shoulders
And by being crucified on the Cross
The Cross signifies Jesus' Pure Love

The fact that Jesus rose from the dead
Signifies the Pure Love God has for His Son
Who is now sitting at God's right hand side
As our Saviour, Redeemer. High Priest and Advocate

Satan's power was broken by the Cross
As he rules no more on this earth
Jesus rules now by the Cross
Let the Cross be the reminder to us all
What Pure Love is
And that we can be saved
By the Cross which is Pure Love.
Thank you God in Jesus Name.

Okay show me in scripture where anybody got saved by there own works. I meant Israel were the best law keepers of anyone and for over 2,000 years Israel did not exist. If you can do it own your own then you are an anomaly and Christ didn't come for you just us bad people.

Paul said that if we are going to glory, let us glory in the cross of Christ.....as Jesus gets all the glory!

Sea Perch trusts himself and water more than he trusts Jesus and the blood of Jesus based upon what he believes and posts!

Oh, no......here, too??? :(

To be honest, it's been a while since i've seen a refreshing thread pop up here at the Bible Discussion Forum :( there's always been debating and arguing....it takes a lot of my nerve and patience not to get riled up, since i see more spite and malice, rather than loving correction and reproof going on....

This thread started to grow from a thread that exemplified thankfulness, awe and humility for our LORD Jesus Christ and HIS love and sacrifice for us all, into something that's becoming "the usual," and it is becoming something that is NOT a pleasant thing to read anymore....

Please, for those people who don't know better than to just keep fighting and arguing....STOP!!!!

I urge those that are offended to take a step back, and PRAY ON IT. If you feel like your nerves are being struck with whatever is said....i think it's best to SEEK HIM and ask if there's something that HE's teaching you here. I believe that, no matter how old you are, or how many times you've read your Bible, or claim that you know so much.....we are never wise enough or know everything enough not to give us the need to learn from HIM, be enlightened and be humbled.

And for those who delight on HIS Holy Cross, and worship and adore HIM for all that HE has done, to which no one or nothing can add to because it is utterly perfect and holy and beautiful, and shining with HIS amazing mercy, grace, and love....KEEP AT IT, BROTHERS and SISTERS!!!! :D Let nothing and no one take away the joy of our salvation!!!!

To Papa GOD be all glory, honor, power and praise!!!!!!
