If the author of the book promoted his fiction as absolute truth, you can believe I would, if I even read it at all.

This is beginning to border on the laughable. Your stripes are beginning to wash off and show your spots.

It looks like a prayer to Mary was posted:

"It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Word. We magnify you, the true Theotokos."

Is this blasphemous idolatry?

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Is it blasphemous to bless Mary?

Luke 1:48-49

48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.

Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ, while Santa Clause, the Christmas carols, the Christmas tree are not the purpose of Christmas, but means through which we express our joy.
If that's what you're trying to say (that Christmas is about Christ and not Santa), than I totally agree with you.

I stay on topic. Do you believe that the parables are lies only because they didn't necessarily happen?

I don't think the parables are lies. I think some were taken out of context, and I think some may have been lies, and others half truths. I believe the majority of the Bible to be historical fact as well as wrote with genuine intentions.

I'm saying lies beget lies, deceit begets deceit, corruption begets corruption.

We live in a society where parents lie to children, corporations deceive consumers, and people are corrupted by government. We have the ability to diminish these things, little by little, yet we add to it.

To be a sin, it would have to violate either 1) Thou shalt love thy God or 2) Thou shalt love thy neighbor.
Now I do not accuse you of being a plinker for having curiosity about this issue, but to me this sort of question can be for some what I call "theological tiddlywinks," if it is part of a concern about issues which have nothing to do with rules 1 & 2. What the Lord really wants of us is our love and for us to love each other.

Santa Claus, I believe, is derived from an historical character (maybe the same as Saint Nicholas) who gave gifts at Christmas, a noble practice, to be compared with the gift-giving in Revelation 11 done by the wicked in their cause.

Yet, I did not emphasize Santa Claus in my home with my children, and I told them from the start that it was a just a tale, this modern idea. Since it is the day we use to celebrate Christ's birthday, the focus should be on him. And I never liked the British counterpart, "Father Christmas," since God is our Father. But neither to I charge those in Britain with violating rules 1 & 2 with this, as that would be judging.

OK, then I guess this is just a nice suggestion...

Joh 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

but don't get too carried away with it?

It is blasphemous to address Mary the way you would only address the Lord. Luke 1 says that she would be called blessed, which means blessed by God. God blesses persons, and He surely blessed Mary. The scripture does not say that we should bless Mary.

Only God is omnipresent. God can hear your prayers everywhere. But since Mary is not omnipresent, but only a human being, how is she going to hear your prayer anyway? Show me anywhere in the Bible where anyone every prayed to a dead person or any place that advocates praying to the dead.

So...when you start reading a fairy tale that begins with "once upon a time", you explain immediately to your child that the author of the book is a liar?

I read my kids "The bible Story" and selected writings that did not contain falsehood such as selections from "A Child's Garden of Verses."

Do you even know what a parable is?

No. Parables aren't lies. They are stories meant to illustrate truth in a way that both a child and a grown up person understand.
Among the audience of Jesus Christ there were kids, women, men, educated people, uneducated ones etc. Jesus Christ had to find a way to deliver the same message to a very diverse crowd. And He chose to speak to them in parables.

Simona25, I respectfully disagree with your description 100%.

A parable is used to disguise the truth from all but those Christ has given to understand the truth...

Mat 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
Mat 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Mat 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

Parables are not quaint stories to help poorly educated farm-folk understand, rather, they are very cleverly crafted to disguise the truth from all but to whom it has been given to understand.
